Free-agent Becht visits 49ers

Free-agent tight end Anthony Becht, a 10-year veteran a blocking specialist who caught seven passes for the Cardinals last season, is visiting the 49ers this afternoon, a league source said.

The 49ers had just two tight ends on the team a year ago: Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker. Becht is 6-foot-6, 270 pounds, and would be used solely as a blocker — the Billy Bajema mold — if the 49ers sign him.

Becht caught a career-high 40 passes in 2003 with the New York Jets. He has been used mostly as a blocker every season since with the Buccaneers, Rams and Cardinals. Becht reportedly visited the Raiders on Monday.
