Jed York named team president

Jed York has been named team president. He was on the field before the game. He said it’s a formalization of his role with the club.

When asked about the job Mike Singletary has done as head coach, York said, “Awesome. I’m very fired up about Mike.”

York said, however, that general manager Scot McCloughan will (or has) make (made) the call on the head coach. (And we all know how that’s going to go.) As for McCloughan’s status with the 49ers, York said, “He’s the GM, and he’s doing a great job.”

There is some speculation here that Singletary could be named head coach immediately after today’s game. York declined to say when it might happen.

“We want to make sure we get through the day, get through the game, and go from there,” York said.

York said his parents, John and Denise, as co-chairs, will be responsible for “providing the resources” for the 49ers’ organization.

“We are excited about the future of the 49ers in Jed’s hands,” John York said in a statement.

McCloughan, chief operating officer Andy Dolich and chief financial officer Larry MacNeil will report directly to Jed York.

York previously held the position of vice president of strategic planning. He was responsible for the integration of strategies and projects related to the long-term operational and financial development of the organization.
