York, Baalke, Marathe and Capaci flying to Miami?

I have no knowledge if this is credible. I’m putting it up.

Turron Davenport tweeted this: “According to a source at Miami International airport, a flight to Miami has been chartered by John York & Trent Baalke set to land at 18:00.”

That’s John York, not Jed York.

Davenport just tweeted that Paraag Marathe and 49ers’ legal/executive assistant Micheline Capaci are on the flight as well.

If all of that is true, what do you think it means?

, ,
    1. Why not flesh the Dolphins out on a possible deal? Whether it succeeds or not, it certainly sends a message to Harbaugh and his agent.

  1. “I have no knowledge if this is credible. I’m putting it up.”

Should have said – I have no knowledge if this is credible. I’m putting it up.

  2. Jonathan Martin invited them to party in south beach. ……or Jed is being punked by his dad because he likes harbaugh and they’re looking to trade him there instead of Cleveland.

  3. Oh my God. This means York is trading Harbaugh for the Dolphins’ entire draft class and Mike Wallace, Cameron Wake, Dion Jordan and Mike Pouncey. I do have a credible source. There is a jittery squirrel in my back yard and he says this deal is set in stone

      1. If all this is true then the optics for Jed are horrendous. Either the man is in charge or he isn’t. If all this is true how does Jed come back from not being there for this type of meeting. John is making Jed look like he’s just playing with this toy thing that happens to be the 49er franchise but real decisions on real issues are handled by John. Looks horrible for Jed IMHO. If he is ok with not being there then he is a poor leader, if he’s pissed about not being there then I don’t see how he stays with the organization. I would resign if I were him. You just can’t recover from this type of thing within the organization.

  4. Jon Gruden says, “go to Florida Jim. It worked for me it will work for you.”

Jon Gruden’s next move – calls Jed and says, “Hey young fella – I’m available.”

    1. Any other, inspired, coach would’ve won a Super Bowl w/ this exceptionally talent-laden team already but JimH’s trust and confidence in an unimaginatively insipid Offensive Coordinator has grated on the Yorks & fans for the past 3 years! Now that the Seattle team has surpassed them it seems that something has to be done even if it means trading Har-Gregg to another team!! Hope they get another 1st round draft pick for this & the next year then get that ingeniously “wicked” coach that can and will lead the 49ers to the promised land!!! Think about the offensive coordinator who last devised a Super Bowl win vs Denver, sounds familiar, in a manner that makes Seattles’ SB win over that same team pale by comparison!?!? Yes that was Mike Holmgren who went on to win another SB as HC of GB but there is another former 49er OC who planned the demolition of Chargers in SB 29 and who is currently available plus he has won numerous SBs after his great stint w/ the 9ers?!?!? Come on Jed, pls. think well then choose wisely for…”as you sow so shall you reap”?

  5. Ummm….that they are going to interview a 2014 prospect, have arranged a meeting with Whitner, Boldin, Dawson, Kaep, etc.? Nah, too obvious.

          1. Martin is still under contract with the Dolphins but wants to go elsewhere, so the Niners could be trying to find out what where they stand legally in talking to Martin and his agent.

    1. I looked him up, some guy from the East coast that has been following the Niners since 1984. Looks like to me, Harbaugh will be taking his talents to South beach, and we will be getting more draft picks, time to get John Harbaugh.

    1. Could be old coach, but I would have thought the agent would handle Kaep’s side of the deal, and Kaep could then sign the deal whenever he’s next in San Fran…? Probably wouldn’t need a whole FO contingent to head to Florida to meet with Kaep?

If true, this sounds more like some serious discussions with another club.

  6. The only other thing I would think would be Kap. He’s in Miami now. We know its going to be a big deal, whcih would then warrant the presence of those people…but that’s a bit of a stretch also.

If Harbaugh leaves it’s gonna hurt….. he turned this franchise around

Worse case scenario…Harbaugh traded to MIA and Roman promoted to HC….living nightmare

    1. Leo,

Not a stretch and a good possibility imo. They could be on the verge of finishing the long term deal with Kap who is Florida and maybe this is a meeting between the Niner brass and Kap and his agent.

Gore and Boldin are also there so this could be to deal with multiple things regarding all three players.

      1. Would you need to send all those reps to Florida to speak to players and their agents?

You could well be right but it seems like something that could be handled directly between the agents and the 49ers.

        1. That’s true scooter. But assuming its talking about Jed and not John then it could maybe mean they’ve caught a lot of snags with the Kap talks, being that he may be wanting a huge deal based off potential or something like that. Maybe they are millions apart and the FO wants to straighten things out in person.

But if you think about it, when’s the last time this organization has had to make this kind of a deal with that much money on the line. Kap will be the highest paid player on the team by far, that seems like it may deserve some extra attention IMO at least.

  7. “Hey @TDavenport_BSN, pretty sure I’m on a flight to MIA with my family. Keep getting you @49ers info from this guy pic.twitter.com/lXVfY02mjM” ~ Jed York

    1. TURRON DAVENPORT ‏@TDavenport_BSN ·8m
@JedYork Thanks. Family first. I respect that and everything that you have done for the 49ers. Enjoy your time with the family.

      1. Grant you already posted you have no idea whether its credible or not, John Edward Yorks tweet seems to explain why his name was on the manifest do’nt reach any further

  8. I think this means that they were planning a surprise birthday party for Jed in Miami, and you have spoiled the whole thing!!!

      1. A short vacation.

My other guess is that they may be doing a meet and greet with some financial backers for the stadium. You know – round of golf – dinner back on the plane.

    1. The Draft was moved back this year because there is an Easter Event at the Radio City Music Hall during the “normal” draft weekend.

    1. When Daddy away, time to put all this stuff to rest. I am really tired of all this. JH is not stupid. He has a chance of being one of the greatest coaches of all time. I just do not see him walking away. Unless it is for New England Saints Cowboys. It would have to be a big name with a team who can compete.

He could not take 2 or 3 seasons of losing.

  9. Wow! This is getting a little ridiculous! We don’t know ANYTHING about the details of this meeting or the situation AT ALL! How do you know Jed did have a personal matter that he needed to attend to at home (i.e. wife is “having a procedure”, kid fell and broke his leg, just got the flu, got go to a meeting in SF to finalize some things regarding the stadium)? He could’ve simply said, dad can you go to this meeting for me? Besides it is YOUR team legally.

At this rate the next story will be “BREAKING NEWS: 49ers looking to trade franchises with the Miami Dolphins”…

Isn’t there some scouting combine and draft stuff we should be rehashing right now?

      1. The owner is on his way to an NFL meeting and the teams P.R. director doesn’t know what it’s about? Sounds a bit fishy to me.

  10. It would be really sad if they let go of Jim Harbaugh. He is a next and better version of Bill Belichick. He is the kind of coach who can multiple Super Bowls in next few years. It would be a major mistake trading him or let go of him. The 49ers will go back to same old mediocre route with a lot of talent but no recipe to win. No one can coach 49ers better then Jim Harbaugh. If they are thinking about replacing him with Mangini or John Grudon, it would be a major mistake.

  12. Did you all get that? Grant had to call the 49ers PR director because he has no other sources of information in the building. Another great example why that is the case right here. What a ludicrous post. I can’t believe the Press Democrat pays for this… Nothing to see here, except Grant late to the party and wanting so desperately to break his very own story, just like the big boys, Kawakami, Ratto, Maiocco, et al. Maybe next time kid… Or not.

  13. Well, that does it. Harbaugh must be gone. No credible source, details, just a plane ride by a few NFL execs to FL. Journalism has crapped all over itself ever since FoxNews came along and made every story tabloid fodder. Now every station, journalist and website do the same, partaking in this inane process. Where is Walter Cronkite when you need him?

  14. BTW, my criticism does not preclude GC from ultimately being proven right. What it does say, however, is that this is shoddy journalism in an effort to get his name at the front of the line. Cart before the horse. He has zero evidence to support his suspicions, but tosses them out as such anyways. That shotgun approach is the same Kawakami uses and basically allows him to hit one in every 10 times. What it does not show is a high degree of journalistic integrity (which may not exist at anywhere anymore). On the chance GC is wrong, he has simply created a hornets nest, stirred the pot and ensnared some good people into having to explain a non-story (which the ORIGINAL Harbaugh story still is). Lots of assumptions, little evidence and effectively calling York a liar when he explains what occurred. Again, quite sad. Go Niners!

          1. NFL owners are on a variety of sub committees. Unfortunately I don’t know which ones Jed belongs to. I remember a while back his father was a member of the committee regarding concussions, etc.

            1. I’m sure he is going to a meeting. If I were him, I’d be talking to Ross on my downtime. Why not? So much to gain, nothing to lose.

  15. He was laughing so hard when he read Grant’s blog that he was starved for oxygen and passed out. Hit his head after the fall. All of this is unsubstantiated and from unreliable sources but I’m posting it so… might be some truth to it.
