Kaepernick: “I’m not going to worry.”

SANTA CLARA – Colin Kaepernick was interviewed in the 49ers’ locker room Tuesday afternoon. Here’s a transcript:

Q: Is there anything more to get out of the exhibition for you guys?

KAEPERNICK: Yeah. We have another chance to go out and work on our offense.

Q: Last year you played one series in the final game and you guys went on a touchdown drive. Do you even remember that? Does that set any momentum for the regular season?

KAEPERNICK: I don’t really remember last year’s preseason. I’m more worried about the regular season. When we go out there we want to be productive.

Q: Are you worried or concerned about your guys’ performance so far?

KAEPERNICK: I’ve never seen worrying help someone’s problems or help someone get better so I’m not going to worry.

Q: Who do you think will be the third wide receiver in three receiver sets?

KAEPERNICK: That will be the coach’s decision. Whoever’s out there I will be throwing it to.

Q: What does Stevie Johnson bring to this team?

KAEPERNICK: He’s quick. Not too many DBs get their hands on him. He has a great ability to create space in routes.

Q: How do you feel you’re throwing it in preseason and in practices so far?

KAEPERNICK: Been doing pretty well, could do things better. We’re always working, trying to get ready for the regular season.

Q: How have you been preparing for the Cowboys?

KAEPERNICK: We’ve looked at them a little bit but for the most part we’re focusing on ourselves, making sure we’re doing what we need to to be ready for the season.

Q: Did you go to the offensive linemen’s meeting this week to make sure you guys are on the same page?

KAEPERNICK:No. Our offensive line probably is the most in-tune line in the league as far as knowing we’re doing, what their assignments are and being on top of things. When you have a physical mistake you don’t go back to the drawing board.

Q: You guys have passed a lot more than you’ve run in the preseason. Are you looking forward to getting back to smash mouth football once the regular season starts?

KAEPERNICK: We execute whatever the coaches may call. That’s all we’re worried about.

Q: Is there any aspect of your game you’re working to improve?

KAEPERNICK: Working on everything, in the pocket, out of the pocket. Ultimately it comes down to playing football.

Q: It seems the plays are getting fast. Has that been an emphasis this camp?

KAEPERNICK: Yeah, we have to make sure we get in and out and have time at the line so we can get our plays off. We don’t want to be worried about the play clock.

  1. So layed back.
    .
Personally, I like a QB who doesn’t get rattled.
    .
I mean, it’s not as if he doesn’t know what their shortcomings are.
    .
In his own way he saying, ‘Yeah. I know what the problem is and I told you we’re working on it, so I don’t need to hear the question for the millionth time.’

    1. Can’t quibble with those games, except I might swap out Dallas with the Cardinals at their place. I think Harbaugh has won every opener, and Romo isn’t healthy. Not sure they can run the ball against the 49ers either. They could be drafting in the top 5 next year….

    2. Jack:

      Great idea, and great execution.

The Denver, New Orleans and Seattle road games are going to be challenging. Thankfully, none of them come early in the season when the 49ers will be the most vulnerable. For some reason, I’m confident that the 49ers will round into shape in the second half of the season, and no one will want to play them.

      1. Thanks Claude. That Denver game coming off a road game and short week is going to be TOUGH.

        1. If the 49ers win that game, I’m going to feel confident about the rest of the season.

    3. I have to disagree on the Cowboy game and say Week 3 vs. the Cards. It will be a statement game for the Cards who have not beaten the Niners in 2 years.
Week 2 at home versus the Bears as well. The 1st game at Levi Stadium? Prime time under the lights.
Battle of the Bay, week 14?

There really is no defining games in the NFL as they all matter with each week having the greatest significance. Only when the season is over could you say that was a defining game.

  2. “I’ve never seen worrying help someone’s problems.”

    Hahaha ‘Don’t worry, be Happy!’
Ya know, that aint just Jive. Its TRUTH.
    G’head.
