LaBoy signing gives 49ers another pass rusher

Outside linebacker Travis LaBoy agreed to terms today on a one-year, $1.6 million contract with the 49ers, a league source said, confirming an ESPN report. This signing gives the 49ers four experienced players at the pass-rushing position.

Parys Haralson, Ahmad Brooks and Manny Lawson combined for 17.5 sacks last season. Haralson and Lawson started every game, while Brooks took over for Lawson as the pass-rush specialist on third downs late in the season.

Haralson is signed through 2013. Brooks signed a two-year, $4.225 million contract extension recently that included a $1.85 million signing bonus.

Lawson’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. There have not been serious discussions toward an extension. Lawson was absent from the 49ers’ two days of organized team activities last month.

LaBoy, 28, a Marin Catholic alum, sat out last season after undergoing surgery to repair torn tendons in his left foot. He has recorded 23 sacks in five NFL seasons.
