Marcus Lattimore says he would be “fine” sitting out the 2013 season

Running back Marcus Lattimore spoke to reporters on the side of the 49ers’ practice field Friday afternoon. Here’s a transcript.

Q: How are you feeling?

LATTIMORE: I feel great. It’s my first time in California. The weather is beautiful.

Q: Can you give us an update on the health of your knee?

LATTIMORE: There’s a lot I’ve been doing, but I’m just going to wait and see and keep rehabbing, running and doing a lot of different things.

Q: When Harbaugh called you after the draft and told you to take it easy, don’t overwork yourself, how did you take it?

LATTIMORE: I took it fine. I really understand why he said that. Whatever’s best for me and whatever’s best for the team is what I’m in for.

Q: What do they have you doing this week?

LATTIMORE: I don’t really know. I’m just going with the flow.

Q: What would your reaction be if in August the 49ers came to you and said they’d like you to sit out the 2013 season so you’re 100 percent healthy in 2014?

LATTIMORE: I think that would be fine. Whatever happens these next three months probably will determine that.
