Niners waive Brooks, promote Hannon from p-squad

The 49ers this morning made a roster move to compensate for the rash of injuries at the wide receiver position.

The 49ers waived linebacker Ahmad Brooks and promoted first-year player Chris Hannon from the practice squad.

Brooks did not suit up for any of the 49ers’ first 11 games. Hannon has been on the practice squad for the entire season.

The 49ers don’t expect to have Arnaz Battle (foot) or Josh Morgan (groin) for tomorrow’s game against the Bills. Also, Jason Hill is battling a groin strain.

Hannon (6-3, 205) went to camp with the Panthers this past summer and then joined the 49ers practice squad prior to the start of the regular season. Hannon originally joined the Chiefs as a rookie free agent out of Tennessee in 2006. He spent 2006 on the Chiefs practice squad and 2007 on the Carolina practice squad.
