On WR Ted Ginn’s two return touchdowns: “He bailed us out today. But that’s what a team is. Sunday’s top-3 matchups

These are the top-3 matchups to watch on Sunday. LT Joe Staley vs. RDE Red Bryant: The 330 lb. Bryant lined up at LDE week 1 last year and completely handled Anthony Davis. You may remember Bryant beating Davis on one play, hitting Alex Smith and stripping the football. The Seahawks list Bryant at RDE this year, so that means it’s Joe Staley’s job to stop him. Can he do…

Jack Harbaugh: “Loose lips sink ships.”

SANTA CLARA – Jim Harbaugh’s father, Jack Harbaugh, was the guest of honor at today’s 49er press conference. He sat with his legs crossed and watched his son with a smile on his face. His face was beaming with pride. His face looks different than Jim’s, though. Jim is all jaw and chin. He pulls his 49er cap down low so the bottom half of his face stands out. Jack…

Anthony Dixon’s locker

SANTA CLARA – I walked over to Anthony Dixon in the locker room three minutes before he had to go to a team meeting, and I asked him if he would mind showing me what he keeps in his locker. “The fans want to know what’s inside a famous NFL running back’s locker,” I explained. Kendall Hunter, who was standing nearby, overheard and requested clarification. “You said a famous NFL…

Crabtree talks, blames San Jose St. turf for foot injury

SANTA CLARA –Michael Crabtree finally spoke to the local press today. He sat in front of his locker and answered every question with a smile. He actually seemed nervous and shy in front of all the cameras and reporters. At one point he joked about a camera light making him sweat, but the only lights in the room were the ceiling lights. First-interview butterflies are understandable, though. I’m sure he’ll…

St. Louis Rams 3. Arizona Cardinals 4. Seattle Seahawks Why: The Niners won six games last year with the worst coaching staff in the sport. The addition of Jim Harbaugh should be worth…

SANTA CLARA – Here’s everything Jim Harbaugh said at his Wednesday press conference, courtesy of the 49ers. I noticed on your depth chart you list three starting wide receivers. Michael Crabtree goes full speed in warm ups

SANTA CLARA — Michael Crabtree was in full pads running full speed during the Niners’ warm ups this afternoon.
