Quinton Patton says he’s molded his game after Michael Crabtree

Here’s what Quinton Patton said to the media after Practice No.1 on Friday.

Q: What was your impression when you first got the play book.

PATTON: It was pretty big. I was like, “Dang, I’ve got to learn all of this?” They were like, “No, you’ve just got to learn these for the weekend.”

Q: Have you met Colin Kaepernick?

PATTON: I spoke to him while he was working out.

Q: Any early impressions of him?

PATTON: I wanted him autograph so I could take it back.

Q: What kind of expectations do you have for yourself this year?

PATTON: I just want to make an impact any way that I can, get on the field any way that I can.

Q: Have you talked to Sonny Dykes at all since you’ve been back here?

PATTON: Not since I’ve been here. At home I talk to him.

Q: Is your goal to start?

PATTON: Whatever team needs me to play. If they choose me to start, I’ll start. If they want me to come off the bench, I’ll come off the bench.

Q: How much did Sonny Dykes prepare you for coming out here now?

PATTON: He’s very detailed with the film, and he always used to show me film of Wes Welker and Michael Crabtree. He showed me the details.

Q: He’s molded you to be a Michael-Crabtree type of receiver?

PATTON: Yes, sir.

Q: What did Dykes show you about Crabtree?

PATTON: Just some of his routes and how explosive he was coming out of his cuts and he snatched the ball out of the air.

Q: No body catches for you?

PATTON: I try not to, but if it happens it happens.
