Report: 49ers sign Torrey Smith to five-year deal

The 49ers have signed 26-year-old wide receiver Torrey Smith to a five-year, $40 million contract with $22 million guaranteed, according to Adam Schefter.

Smith is the perfect complement to Anquan Boldin. Boldin is the Flanker — the possession receiver who finds the the open window against zone coverage. Smith is the split end — the sprinter who blows past man coverage and outruns the cornerback down the sideline.

When the 49ers use three wide receivers next season, they can line up two deep threats on the outside (Smith and Jerome Simpson), and they can line up Boldin in the slot. That’s a terrific, balanced trio — the best wide-receiver trio the 49ers have had in a long time.

  1. I’m excited to see how Ellington fits into the picture. He works great in space and I think he would be a great option for the underneath routes.

      1. Ellington is a better option if only because he can actually stay heathy. Hope for Patton is not gone yet, but becoming less likely season after season. A likable guy who works hard so everyone wanted him to succeed, so perhaps the expectations were too high for him from the beginning.

  2. I’m psyched. Draft another stud RB for a 1-2 punch with Hyde and strengthen the oline. Kaep will have zero excuses.

      1. I did, but it didn’t change what Smith is: an overpaid and inconsistent #2.

        1. He’s a deep threat, play-making, borderline #1, who can potentially become a legitimate #1. $8mil/yr is definitely not overpaying, especially considering a real inconsistent #2 (Crabtree) will likey be getting around 5-6 mil a year, who is the polar opposite of Smith.

Seriously you guys complain about everything. Nag nag nag, I have enough of this at home.

            1. Poorly said. Look at their stats. They’re similar along with their inconsistencies. The only difference is speed, but that quickly negated by one being good in the clutch.

          1. The only things that are polar opposites between the two is speed and clutch. Everything else is similar or the same. A faster Crabtree sans being clutch is all he is. NOT A #1 WR.

            1. Crabtree wasn’t clutch in that Chicago game last year. Sure Kaep had a disasterous second half, but the last pass to Crabtree at the goal line was catchable and Crabtree didn’t make that catch. I’ve seen that play many times. Crabs reaction at the end says it all. He knew he blew it.

              1. The whole offense wasn’t good last year. And Smith couldn’t make that catch either.

            2. They are complete polar opposites Mid. One is a possession WR, the other a deep threat.

              1. With the same inconsistencies Scooter.

like how you keep using that word “clutch”. What’s the point in being “clutch” if you can’t get open.

Crabs is a mediocre possession receiver, Torrey is a deep threat, play-maker. Complete opposites.

Quite a number of people outside this blog and the fan base think otherwise Leo.

            3. I like how you keep using that word “clutch”. What’s the point in being “clutch” if you can’t get open.

Crabs is a mediocre possession receiver, Torrey is a deep threat, play-maker. Complete opposites.

            1. Mid, Crabtree slow! Smith fast and can return kicks. Bye bye #15. You are nothing more than a bandaid

              1. Did I say Crabtree wasn’t slow? NOPE. But he is better in the clutch. Those differences aren’t enough to excuse given a #2 WR $22 million guaranteed.

You are nothing more than a bandaid

How’re those Kaep rants coming along Mr. Bandaid?

              2. Rants? I guess sometimes people can’t handle the truth.
When CK starts to perform like a $120 million dollar QB, I’ll change my opinion.
When Crabtree can play a full 16 game season, I’ll give him full marks. Until then, both guys have a lot to prove.
As for Torrey Smith. This guy is electric. Exactly what the 49ers need. As for the money. This is what becoming an NFL free agent is all about. The market sets the price. This is what it costs to acquire talent. Deal with it!

              3. So it doesn’t matter if you can make plays and stretch the field and keep the defense honest….as long as you can make that one or two “clutch” plays a season you are a #1.

              4. Rants? I guess sometimes people can’t handle the truth.

So much so that you were banned for a while.

There’s nowhere worth commenting on this nonsense so I’m not going to even bother.

              5. So it doesn’t matter if you can make plays and stretch the field and keep the defense honest….as long as you can make that one or two “clutch” plays a season you are a #1.

He keeps poor secondaries honest. The NFC West doesn’t have any of those.

              6. No nonsense is the attitude your taking by grabbing your ball and going home.
As for being banned, is that suppose to be some sort of insult? Grow up Dynasty

              7. Sorry Prime, but hearing all of that coming from you just makes me laugh. Pot meet kettle.

              8. Change your avatar and settle down. When T.Smith returns one to the house you will change your sourness!

              9. Why exactly do I need to change my avatar? It’s Patrick Willis and I plan on keeping it for as long as possible.

I’ll change my mind on Smith when I see consistency and an actual #1 WR.

            2. 11 td’s with a teammate who demanded the ball all of the time. With 30 less catches too. And a way better YPC average than Smith and crabs

        2. I agree MWD. There is a reason Baltimore didn’t try to keep him, despite the lack of WR’s in the team. Plenty of other WR desperate teams passed on him. He is one dimensional–see Ted Ginn. The other Smith is a better WR than this Smith.

        1. I’m trying to reply to your “have a snickers” retort but my post keeps dropping waaaay down here…

  3. MaiOccoquan has us at 16.5 million under the cap before Torrey Smith. Time to release Brooks and Johnson. Was wondering if we can get AJ Hawk.

      1. Jack after all the happenings of the last 2 days are you still feeling confident with your prediction of 10 or 11 wins next season for the 9ers?

        1. “are you still feeling confident with your prediction of 10 or 11 wins next season for the 9ers?”

Yes. I wasn’t expecting Gore to be back, and the defense was fine without Willis for 2/3 of the year. The biggest loss would be Justin Smith, but I think Carradine and Dockett will hold up well there.

          1. What about the secondary? There’s been no movement on Culliver and Cox and now we have to face Graham twice a year.

          2. Applauding hammer!
Feel the same way. Add Dockett and a starting Lynch with some seasoning under his belt.
Resign cox and grab Waynes and I still think this defense is #1 in the league next year.
And if by some chance they magically get hardy.. Oh my!

    1. AJ Hawk? Hope that’s a joke.

There’s no need to release brooks at the moment. We’ll likely cut Johnson, which will help make up for the majority of the space that we’ll use for Smith (6 out of the 8M). But with Willis retiring, that just created a bunch of cap room. Not to mention that it’s going to give us even more if Justin Smith retires.

No need to release Brooks quite yet. We still have money to work with in FA, and who knows what will happen with Justin.

How about Phil Dawson’s 3M cap number at age 40?

  4. After Gore has been facing 8-9 man boxes since 2006, the 49ers brass FINALLY gets a legitimate deep threat to combat that extra safety in the box and to open up those run lanes for Gore? oh wait

    1. I still say we need a true #1. I’ve read pretty consistently that Smith has inconsistent hands. Is DGB, early second rd, still an option.

      1. Absolutely agree. Heck, I’d rather take a chance on Beckham not turning into another Josh Gordon than overpay for a #2.

      2. I still see them taking a WR early (2-3). DGB could be a good gamble, and a great pairing in the future with Torrey.

  5. In his matchup against the Seahawks his rookie year, Smith was targeted eight times but caught only three for 28 yards along with zero TDs. A further look at his stats indicates that he struggles against strong secondaries. So exciting.

    1. Dude, why are you insisting on being such a wet blanket? Give it a rest, please. We have all had a really rough last couple days and we’re trying to enjoy a little glimmer of hope. Go have a beer or something, will ya?

      1. Hanging onto an overpaid and inconsistent #2 WR as a glimmer of hope is a sign of having one too many beers.

        1. I know this has been pointed out to you already, but Torrey Smith had 11 touchdowns last season. If the 49ers had 11 more TD’s last season we would’ve won our division and probably had home field advantage throughout.

            1. No I can’t with certainty but you can’t deny we would have with certainty either. In the 8 games we didn’t win, we lost by a combined 83 points. If those 11 TD’s were added to just six of the games we lost, we would have finished 14-2.

              1. Another claim you can’t substantiate. Neither one of us can stay he would have or wouldn’t have made a difference last year. We don’t know if he would have been bit by the injury, if he showed his usual struggles against strong secondaries, etc.

  6. Scooter, I believe Mangini ran the Fairbanks-Bullough scheme in Cleveland. The 49ers hinted they wanted to see a more aggressive defensive scheme. What do you think they are doing?

    1. Going multiple, and thus aggressive, requires occasionally leaving your CBs isolated. You need good cover CBs. We’ll lose Cully. The assessments and prognoses of the young guys they have will be crucial.

      1. The Bullough is supposed to be pretty confusing. To me, it’s like the Ultimate Prevent Defense. That’s why I asked if they want more aggression on defense, The Fire Zone Blitzing scheme from the LeBeau tree makes more sense….

    2. I don’t think they’ll change much from what they were doing with Fangio outside of rushing an extra man a bit more.

        1. Not really. When I say I don’t think it will change much, that doesn’t mean they will try and make Borland play like Willis. I just don’t think they will switch to a 2-gapping, balanced 3-4 defense.

          1. Why not use a hybrid defense, in which much of the time one side of the defense is playing like a 2-gapping 3-4 and the other side is playing like a 1 gapping 4-3. That would allow Mangini to get his best players on the field, while playing to their strengths wherever they are….

            1. Its a pretty complex system.

To be honest I think the existing under front system is their best bet of getting their best players on the field while playing to their strengths. Nothing changes with the loss of Willis or Justin Smith, aside from an adjustment in ILB responsibilities.

              1. Fair point. I’d like to think the 49ers had the football acumen on that side of the ball to execute it, but you’re probably right….

  7. So besides backup QB, what’s our biggest FA need now (bearing in mind that the Seahags picked up Graham)?

    1. Right now it’s ROLB and ILB as a tie. Aldon will probably cost too much after this season while Borland can’t handle big backs or TEs. A true #1 WR and a island CB are a very close second though.

  8. – 10 TDs in his last 11 games
    – Drawn an NFL-leading 12 pass interference penalties in 2014. 261 yards. 21.7 yards per penalty.
    – Just re-reviewed some Torrey Smith highlights. Not just a speed demon. Runs all kinds of routes.
    – 6-0, 205lbs is not a wispy waif.
    – 2013 stats 65 catches, 1,128 yards, 17.4 yards per catch. The 2014 knee sprain is only that, I don’t see why he can’t get into 2013 form.

    1. -Inconsistent
-Runs all routes, but isn’t classified as good at running them
      -Not a clutch player
-stats inflated by playing poor secondaries
      -Not always reliable hands

      1. Good lord, this is ridiculous. 49ers just signed the best WR available in FA, a guy that perfectly complements the team, and all you can do is moan about it.

This is a great signing of an impact player that will make defenses respect the deep ball. And they got him for $8M a year, which is not the huge salary typically associated with a #1 WR.

        1. 49ers just signed the best WR available in FA, a guy that perfectly complements the team, and all you can do is moan about it.

Which says what exactly about the free agency since the top guy available was a #2 WR?

This is a great signing of an impact player that will make defenses respect the deep ball.

I remember people saying the same thing about Baldwin when we acquired him from the Chiefs, and look how well that turned out.

And they got him for $8M a year, which is not the huge salary typically associated with a #1 WR.

With $22 million guaranteed. Don’t leave out that little nugget.

          1. Perfect complement for this team Mid.

If you take a step back and look at the WR core as a whole, you’ll see a group that is now well balanced and complements a strong running game and play-action. And the 49ers will have less money tied up in their WR group than a lot of other teams once they release Stevie Johnson.

The $22M guaranteed just means they expect him to pan out. End of the day he is still getting less on average than most #1 WRs. Heck, Greg Jennings got $9M a year on average last year.

            1. If you take a step back and look at the WR core as a whole, you’ll see a group that is now well balanced and complements a strong running game and play-action.

Same thing was said last year. Yawn.

The $22M guaranteed just means they expect him to pan out. End of the day he is still getting less on average than most #1 WRs. Heck, Greg Jennings got $9M a year on average last year.

It means they’re hoping he gets over the same problems that have plagued him from his time in college. And comparing his salary to a guy potentially on the chopping block isn’t a good argument.

As for him being a complement for this team, I’ll agree on that, for this year. Boldin most likely won’t be back, and finding a guy similar to Boldin won’t be easy. Also, he is just a complementary WR, and complementary WRs aren’t worth $8 million a year.

              1. You have an uncanny way of making everything a negative, Mid. Turn that frown upside down!

            2. I will when this team does something smart. $22 million guraranteed for a one-trick pony isn’t smart.

              1. It is if you know he provides what you need.

Even if all he provides is exactly what he provided for the Ravens, its a good pickup.

              2. “Even if all he provides is exactly what he provided for the Ravens”

Yep. If he brings 15.9 yards per reception, 12 receiving TD’s, and another 261 yards in pass interference penalties to this offense they will be ecstatic.

            1. Pay attention so you don’t hurt yourself. I was comparing both situations.

              1. Either way that was a horrendous comparison. Everyone, that follows the niners, knew AJ was a bust, and that Baldwin was a long shot to have any impact whatsoever.

                Completely killed your argument.

              2. LOL
You said the same thing about Stevie(I mean the “Stevie situation”)

You should probably define “the situation” so there’s no more confusion.

              3. Either way that was a horrendous comparison.

Both were overrated acquisitions. And I was talking about the situation where most fans glorified each move.

Everyone, that follows the niners, knew AJ was a bust, and that Baldwin was a long shot to have any impact whatsoever.

You really don’t remember how happy this blog was that the 49ers traded for Baldwin, do you?

              4. You said the same thing about Stevie(I mean the “Stevie situation”)

And what is Johnson’s current outlook? It’s fixing to be cut if I recall.

              5. I think a big part of the blog being happy with the Baldwin acquisition was the subtraction of Jenkins and the cap implications which allowed them to get out a year earlier.

              6. Funny. How about you keep your smart remarks to yourself before you end up being the one getting hurt ? If you wouldnt say it to someone’s face dont say it over the internet keyboard warrior. Every situation is different you douche. You cant compare the two. Let the offseason play out first. Then , if you still want to b!+€h & whine more than your wife , go for it.

              7. What Jack said.

I think we were all looking for something to latch onto that year, especially, when our next best WR on the team after Boldin or Davis was the FB. I remember being extremely cautiously optimistic, that maybe just maybe a change of scenery for Baldwin may possibly spark some light to go off in his head. But as I remember it, the consensus seem to be the notion Bust-for-Bust.

              8. Boring little rant Alumni. Try again.

I think a big part of the blog being happy with the Baldwin acquisition was the subtraction of Jenkins and the cap implications which allowed them to get out a year earlier.

No, they were absolutely giddy over his YPC numbers.

          2. Mid,
Obviously nothing has yet to be proven on the field, but on paper (where everything typically starts) we have significantly upgraded ourselves in the area of WR.

Boldin, Simpson and TSmith give us physicality, speed, experience and COP at the WR position. Combine that with let’s say even an average year for VD and this offense won’t look like it’s playing in quicksand like last season.

I think we could now look to shore-up on defense through the draft and FA. Yesterday I went with ILB Denzel Perryman as my 2nd draft pick – now with the recent Hawks signing of Jimmy Graham we need a taller ILB that can be a better physical (at least in size) matchup.

Drafting a WR will likely wait until the 3rd and maybe even 4th rd.

            1. Good comment AES, took the words right out of my finger tips.

I see this offense making some big strides this season. We basically just got faster and younger, but still have some big veteran presences in Boldin, VD, and Staley.

Defense is a completely different story, I’m hoping for some good moves by baalke in the rest of FA, and a great defensive draft.

            2. The problem is that was the claim about our offense last year AES, and then we played the season. I’m not confident about an offense with an overpaid #2 WR disguised as a #1 WR and coordinated by Geep Chryst.

              1. Mid,
I’m not writing my SB ticket for this season just yet. But considering the fact we lost Frank Gore, and a strong possibility of losing Iupati and Crabtree, I feel we helped ourselves at the very least to soften the blow with the signings of TSmith and Simpson.

Now if KHunt can come back and give us some productive touches along with possibly another FA and a rookie to compliment C.Hyde we should not see a big loss on the offensive side.

I agree that the monies allocated to TSmith is high but this has become common in the era of free agency. All we can do is hope that he lives up to his contract and for the time being, we need to withhold judgment on him.

      2. MWDynasty

        WTF is wrong with you?!!!

Are you mad that Gore left for $5M/yr (huge overpay)? Are you mad that Iupati, Skuta, etc … are leaving for WAY MORE $$$ than they should get? You mad that the megalomaniac Harbaugh is gone and young Niners will finally get to play?

You mad that the Niners are paying a #2 slightly higher than a #2 deserves?

Who pissed in your Corn Flakes?

            1. What does a poor signing have to do with my outlook on life? Don’t worry, I’ll wait until you come back to life judging from the X eyes.

  9. What do people think with regards to Torrey Smith being able to catch Kaep’s fastball.

      1. Nothing like a pithy comment to brighten my day!
        .
        F’n hilarious!!!
        .

  10. Will Brinson ✔ @WillBrinson
LeSean McCoy said Frank Gore asked him about Philadelphia. Shady smiles. “I was honest with him … for the most part.”

  11. Grant, or anyone else who knows, the latest news on Culliver
or Cox? Last I heard, Jets were trying to sign Culliver?

          1. That would give the secondary an identity and allow more aggression. A “Deion” like corner seems to now be the most important piece in today’s NFL….

        1. My thoughts exactly. If Waynes can truly cover with minimal safety help, the 49ers can drop a safety in the box. This will let Borland focus on the run or blitz.

Solves the match-up issue with Jimmy Graham. Stick a big safety over him.

But Waynes (who looks really good) really cover receivers by himself?

          1. If what Scooter is saying is true, then that would be a different scheme from what Fangio ran….

            1. Sorry, I think I mislead you a little razor. I don’t think it will be exactly the same as with Fangio. I’m sure they will tailor some things to suit the changes in personnel.

              I just meant I doubt they switch to a Fairbanks-Bullough, 2-gapping balanced 3-4 system.

        2. With Torrey signed, my guess is they’ll go after Waynes in the first round.
          .
          .
          Hope so.
          .
They’ll have to go up and get him though.
          .
          .
          .
          ~ALOHA~

        3. George,
I suspect they will lean heavy on defense given the recent WR signings.
Waynes would be a very good get if we can swoop in on him.
          ILB with the 2nd pick.

  12. Let’s get back to Graham for a moment. There was a significant drop in his performance last year relative to 2013. In 2013 he had 1215 yards, 16 TDs with zero fumbles. In 2014 he had 889 yards with 10 TDs and 2 fumbles lost.

I wonder if the Saints knew what they were doing in unloading Graham (similar to Vikings unloading Percy on Seattle). Maybe it’s his injury history.

      1. “Because he’s overrated,” Bennett said. “If he doesn’t get a chance to get the ball, that’s all he can really do — he doesn’t help in the blocking game — so I think he’s overrated and I’m not scared to say that on TV.”

      2. “Yes he was hurt and ineffective last year but the Saints just took a 9 mil dead money hit. Ouch.”

Something else must be going on. I can’t believe the Saints are that stupid.

    1. There was an unexpected drop in the Saints performance. Put him with Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch(Saints didn’t have a run game), and you have a sick offense.

      1. But the seahawks don’t gave a brees either. His numbers will decline with wilson. Wait and see.
And they’d have zero help for him on the outside. A horrible o-line with their best player gone. It will be a great move if they get a top flight receiver who will scare somebody

  13. He doesnt even need to catch the ball, just open up the defense for the other WRs/TE.

    1. That’s a large part of where his value lies. Its not just about the stats he puts up. He helps the entire offense.

        1. For what? I was right about Baldwin and the Johnson trade, so I’m not going to be surprised if I’m right about Smith. If not, then I’ll gladly eat a crow sandwich. But until proven otherwise, Smith is an overpaid and inconsistent #2 WR.

          1. “I was right about Baldwin”

You and 90% of the people on this site…. I still don’t know who you’re referring to as being excited about the Baldwin trade. Bust-for-Bust I think were Barrows words after that trade. And as for Stevie, he looked solid when he got the opportunities. He served his purpose, and I’m sure most wouldn’t complain if he came back on a restructured deal.

            1. I thought Stevie did really well when he was on the field. Much better than Crabtree.

              1. Bad how. Baalke was able to get that 4th rounder back with some ninja moves in the draft. So you must mean the $6 million per year. But I believe none of it was guaranteed.

              2. Bad because it could have been used on something other than a one-year rental.

              3. Also bad because Baalke essentially sat on his laurels during one of the best drafts for WRs. Ellington was a good pickup, but we needed something to go along with him besides a one-year rental.

            2. You and 90% of the people on this site…. I still don’t know who you’re referring to as being excited about the Baldwin trade.

Still don’t remember huh? Grant put up a piece about his numbers and a good majority of bloggers said that was why they were excited about getting him because he put up those numbers with bad QBs throwing to him. I was chastised quite a bit for saying those numbers were a mirage.

I’m not saying that Johnson was bad, but the trade was pointless given the fact that the team is expected to release him now. I’d like to see him come back, but I don’t think there’s room on our WR corps and someone will probably overpay for him once he is released.

    1. Why is he not? Because the Seahawks traded another first round pick for an injury-prone player? How did that work out the first time?

    2. Hey Nick. Glad to see you’re back.

Something doesn’t seem right to me about this trade. Grimey pointed out that NO is taking a 9 million dollar hit. Graham’s statistics were down significantly last year. Maybe they pulled one over on the Seahags just like the Vikings did.

  14. My take on this is that Smith appears to be a one-dimensional WR.
    .
You tell him “go deep”, and he does.
    .
If that’s the one dimension that the team needs–cool.
    .
I do have trouble with the guaranteed money though.
    .
    Keep him healthy!

    1. Yes I was – good signing by the Colts.

Looks like the Colts are going hard at winning the SB this year.

  15. Let’s see. Desean Jackson was signed to a three-year, $24 million contract with $16 million guaranteed last year. Average is the same as Smith, but guaranteed is significantly less.

        1. I’d rather have Spiller.
          .
Bush would definately be cheaper though…

          1. Spiller would be good too, but I think he’s going to be quite a bit higher than the 49ers want to pay for a RB.

        2. Who is going to throw Reggie short touch in stride passes close to the line of scrimmage?

    1. To do what…kick returns?
      .
He’ll probably go back to NO anyways.

          1. There’s no room for being silling. This is serious business. ; )

We need a sarcasm font around here.

    2. Dude my real crush. I always loved that guy even more than Kim kardashian. On a serious note, had the 49ers drafted Bush, it would have been a lot more different more his high school buddy from Helix high in San Diego. Can anyone guess whom that is?

    1. The current signings by Baalke indicate to me that he is on a very hot seat. Just my opinion though.

      1. Could Jed be having Harbaugh remorse? Like wtf did I do to my team? I listen to Baalke instead of jim…

      1. When was Bush a real threat at Running back. Anything Bush can do Ellington and Patton can do.

        1. You’d expect Ellington and Patton to take have over 100 carries out of the backfield?

Yes, Ellington has the potential to be a Cobb type player, but that doesn’t take the place of a RB.

              1. Ellington taking over 100 snaps as a RB is a lot better than Gabbert taking over the reins and leading us to the playoffs.

          1. I also seem to recall him taking some practice snaps at the position due to our RB corps being pounded with the injury bug.

            1. Trent Baalke has a tendency to sign like players, especially on offense. It’s getting redundant.

    1. MidWest ..

didja catch the Willis “farewell” over at 49ers.com?

      The Jedster spoke first …
(I fought the urge to punch my monitor) … but

my first thought when Jed appeared .. was ..
“wtf is up with all that facial hair ?”

Then I realized .. that it all jumped onto his face ..
from the back of his head

      1. LOL MWN.

York’s speech and then Baalke’s felt rehearsed and dry. Tomsula meanwhile…I felt like he understood the monumental moment and how rare of a pleasure it was to know and work with Patrick Willis firsthand.

        1. Yeah, I got the feeling that Tomsula actually
spoke from the gut … unlike the other two
who were just going throughout the motions ..

Made me hungry for raviolis and chanti

  16. Niners could use another back that can catch the ball out of the backfield, besides Bruce Miller. Reggie Bush could add some balance with Hyde and Hunter. We need RB depth, who knows if Hunter will bounce back. Bush WOULD be a good pick up if you ask me.

    1. He needs to play on grass. He messed up by going to Detroit after new Orleans. I have to believe it contributed to his injuries. Maybe he wants to come back to the west coast.

      1. here’s a thought …

If Alex Smith hadn’t been “gifted” his first
touchdown pass in the last game of the season (2005) ..
and had the Texans actually won …

Reggie Bush just might have been a Niner …

        I know … I know

        “woulda -coulda – shoulda”

      2. Big niner stated ” He (Bush) needs to play on grass”. He probably wants to play on grass as well, but I believe they still take random tests to make sure that players don’t.

    1. the only “D” I want the top taken off ..
is “troll” Mary’s favorite team !!

Actually … I just want Kap to toast Sherm
      (all day)…

then find that same lady he scared the bejeebus
      out of ..

and have her stick a mic in his face, again
