Sun might be factor in today’s game

Welcome to late-November in the San Francisco Bay. The sun is out; no clouds in the sky; and there is only a slight breeze here at Candlestick Park.

If the 49ers want to prolong their dream of earning a spot in the NFC playoffs, they better get to work today against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here are the early developments:

49ers inactives: Nate Davis (3rd QB),) RB Michael Robinson, WR Isaac Bruce, WR Arnaz Battle, C Cody Wallace, CB Nate Clements, T Joe Staley, DL Ricky Jean-Francois.

Cornerback Keith Smith, who wears No. 20, will make his 49ers debut. As things currently stand, Josh Morgan is expected to return kickoffs, and Brandon Jones will be back deep on punts. Reggie Smith is also available for punt-return duty. Takeo Spikes, who missed last week’s game with a hamstring strain, will be in uniform.

Jaguars inactives: CB Rashean Mathis, WR Nate Hughes, DB Michael Coe, DT Derek Landri, T Tra Thomas, OL Maurice Williams, OL Paul McQuistan, DT Greg Peterson.

The Jaguars (6-4) do not have a third quarterback. Luke McCown is David Garrard’s backup. Mathis is not playing, so Tyron Brackenridge takes over as a starting corner.
