Tarell Brown on 49ers No.1-ranked pass D: “If we give up a pass, it’s nothing too major.”

SANTA CLARA — 49ers’ right cornerback, Tarell Brown, spoke in the media tent Thursday afternoon. Here’s how he explained the 49ers’ pass defense being ranked No.1 in the NFL.

Q: Do you think you guys have improved covering the deep ball? There doesn’t seem to be very many deep passes against you.

BROWN: Yeah, I think so. We really focus on that during the week. Our coaches stress it, as far as covering guys man-to-man, getting down field and having a lot of jump-ball situations. A lot of teams will start attacking us more and more down the field.

Q: Do you think that’s the biggest reason your pass defense is ranked No.1?

BROWN: I think it’s just guys playing well together. We’re all on one page. If we do give up a pass, it’s nothing too major. With us, it’s about going out there and making plays, keeping everything in front of us and competing for the ball. I think we’ll have a great week.
