Top-3 questions facing the 49ers against the Cardinals

Quick, before I drive over to University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale:

1. How many blitzes will  Vic Fangio call? He called one last week.

2. How many touches will Bruce Ellington get on offense? He got none last week.

3. If Vernon Davis plays, how fast will he be? Can the Cardinals cover him with a linebacker? If so, how will that affect the rest of the 49ers’ offense?

  1. 1. My guess is 2 blitzes.
    2. Same as last week for Ellington 2-3 plays, we need to see more Hyde than Ellington
    3. We’ll get a lot more throws to the receivers and Carrier will come a way with 3-5 catches, this is where they need Ellington’s speed since none of our receivers can stretch out the D like Davis. If he’s injured I don’t seem him providing what he does for the offense. All our receivers have good size and can make the short and intermediate catches.

  2. 1. He’ll call two this week.
    2. A couple.
    3. He won’t play. Not an in game injury, so they’ve had time to game plan.

Justin Smith will take ownership of Jared Veldheer…..

  3. My 3 Questions:

    1. Does Kaepernick have a bounce back performance?

    2. How does Stanton follow up against a real defense?

    3. Can the 49ers force the Cardinals new short yardage back(Stepfan Taylor)to cough it up?

    1. 1. Yes, if the Iupati and J Martin can keep his jersey clean
      2. If Arizona wins it will be because of its D, Stanton will make some plays but he’ll have a tougher time this week.
      3. Our run D was much better last week with Forte being the superior back to Murray.

I think a good game plan is to stop the run and force Stanton into throwing. If we could only mount a pass rush, the shut down D would be back.

  4. If Davis doesn’t play I think we’ll see Johnson get more catches. With Vernon out of the way the defense can focus on Crab and Boldin. Ellington will get at least a few touches today if the defense is successful in taking away those two guys but I think it will be a big day for Stevie, if he actually holds on to any of them.

With Palmer out again this week I think there’s a higher likely hood that Fangio will call more blitzes. I’m going to guess 3-4 blitzes this week.

Here’s my question; Will the 49ers call more run or pass plays this week?

  5. I had high expectations for Lacy this year so much so that I put him on 3/5 teams and shizer has that been a total cluster fudge so far.

  6. 1) Fangio will call a few blitzes today. He has to find a way to disrupt the passing game.

    2) Ellington will get a few touches. At least one out of the backfield.

    3) Vernon won’t play.

  7. My questions are
    1) Does Kaep bounce back?

    2) Does Carrier drop below #2 on the depth chart after this game?

    3) Does he start challenging Bruce Miller for playing time? He’s built similarly to Miller, but more athletic.

    1. Actually the 49ers and Kaep didn’t do anything special. This guys need take their heads off their a.s.s. They looked like a bunch of bewildered players against the Cardinals.

  8. Thank you for another great post. Where else
may just anybody get that type of info in such an ideal means of writing?
I’ve a presentation next week, and I’m at the look for such information.
