Week 3 NFL picks

Here are my week 3 NFL picks.

49ers @ Cincinnati: 49ers. The Bengals won’t be able to establish Cedric Benson and the running game – the Niners front seven won’t let them. Then rookie QB Andy Dalton will have to pass to win, Vic Fangio will call blitzes to pressure him, and Dalton will turn the ball over more times than Alex Smith will. Bengals lose.

New England @ Buffalo: New England. New England is the best team in football right now, but they’ll slow down by January.

Miami @ Cleveland: Cleveland. I wouldn’t pick Miami to beat anyone on the road.

Denver @ Tennessee: Tennessee. Nor would I pick Denver to win on the road. A bad team.

Detroit @ Minnesota: Detroit. Detroit could beat any of the best teams right now, and Minnesota is not one of the best teams.

Houston @ New Orleans: New Orleans. People are excited about Houston’s defense, but they’ve played weak passing teams the first two weeks (Miami and Indianapolis). With Arian Foster still not 100 percent, the Texans won’t have enough to beat the Saints in New Orleans.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia: Philadelphia. Vick bounces back from his concussion with a 300 yard passing performance and a big win at home.

Jacksonville @ Carolina: Carolina. Cam Newton only throws for three touchdowns, but he wins his first game as a Panther.

New York Jets @ Oakland: New York Jets. Darrelle Revis will shut down the Raiders’ up-and-coming wide receiver Denarius Moore, and Darren McFadden won’t be able to beat the Jets by himself.

Baltimore @ St. Louis: Baltimore. Baltimore, my preseason AFC champion pick, will not lose two games in a row to subpar teams.

Kansas City @ San Diego: San Diego. The Chiefs best shot to win a game will come week five when they play the Colts in Indianapolis.

Green Bay @ Chicago: Chicago. Green Bay is the better team, but I’d bet Chicago bounces back at home this week, and Green Bay lets down.

Arizona @ Seattle: Seattle. I’m taking the team with the home field advantage here.

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay: Atlanta. Tampa Bay hasn’t run or stopped the run well so far this year, so this is a bad matchup for them.

Pittsburgh @ Indianapolis: Pittsburgh. Blowout.

Washington @ Dallas: Washington. The Redskins pull off what the Niners could not. Romo won’t play brilliantly two weeks in a row.

My results last week: 11-5
