      Total 8-8

  2. Final six games will be a bear. That’s is why I am okay drafting another defensive lineman.

Remember when the 49ers suited up nine defense of lineman vs Marino in the super bowl? Buckner with fresh legs in December will be a force.

  3. Back to back 10:00 am east coast games Dec 8 and Dec 15.

The NFL’s east coast bias is almost as bad as the Heisman selection committee.

  4. Week 1: @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (W)

11-5 — Contingent on defense and offense ranking in the top 10, no season ending injuries to starters or key backups, solid contribution from 2019 acquisitions (draft, FA/UDFAs, trades).

    1. 1. Our bye week is typically weeks 8-10 . Why so early this year?
      2. Shouldn’t game 1 @ Tampa be an early start?
      3. Glad no London games.

  6. Couple things. I wasn’t aware how in depth Big Shanny went with Jimmy G:

“Seeing the game from his point of view is different. He was looking at it differently from a quarterback. It’s hard to describe, but it’s going to help me a lot going forward,” Garoppolo said. “We watched our offense, our defense, other teams, teams that played three years ago where he though a clip could help me. He’s so smart it was incredible to have the experience and I thank him a lot for that.”

    Local Pro Day:

We have Doss for Sebbers!“My versatility, I can move from inside to outside, they really like that of me,” said Doss. “I think I could be a really good fit if they were to pick me.”

    1. Meh, we’ve been lucky for the last few years with middle of the season byes. Half our team last year had a bye via injury anyway.

    2. Most of the elite teams (recent past performance…) have byes falling a bit later in the season. Just sayin’.

    1. We need another edge rusher opposite Ford, and a Z wide receiver. Then there’s secondary depth at FS/CB, Sam LB, OL. So that’s 2 holes and 4 pinholes….

      1. We disagree here.
We could use upgrades at edge, sam, will, safety and corner as they currently are below average or unknown.
On offense they could use upgrades at Guard if not both guards and a number 1 receiver or at least one tough receiver if not 2. They currently don’t have anyone I trust not to miss significant time.

Perhaps Kwon will return to form and Ward, Tartt, Pettis, Goodwin, and Varrett will remain active but I wouldn’t take that bet.

        1. Therein lies the biggest problem.
The team on paper looks good, but that relies heavily on a bunch of injured players not being injured. IF Verrett and Kwon play a full healthy season. And IF the front 7 stay healthy. And IF Pettis and Garrapolo and all the RB’s stay healthy, we’ll be fine and very competitive.
But those are a lot of “if’s”. Sure it’s possible all those players stay healthy, but not likely.
I do at least think we’re heading in the right direction

  7. Wonder what the over/under will be for Grant’s declaration of ‘Kyle is on the hot seat’… Bye week?

  8. Schedule Breakdown

    Games vs birds – 6
    Games vs humans – 5
Games vs non human mammals – 4
Games vs former humans that are now in the spiritual realm – 1

8-10 wins if injury situation is finally controlled.

  9. Hate to pee in your Cheerios but I’m not falling for the hype again…7 wins at the most, here’s why..
Jimmy G is unproven and has only played a handful of games in the NFL
This team is soft and full of nice guys that are injury prone
    This team can’t tackle
This team can’t draft (Soloman Thomas ,Witherspoon etc)
This team is owned by one of the worst families in all of professional sports
Levi’s is a joke ,Half full of opposing fans most of the time and is dead quiet
    No home field advantage
We’ve obviously seen this team plays favorites and not the best players (CJ Beathard)
This team drafts players only to try to force them to play positions they don’t fit in
Saleh is a joke of a coordinator and I predict he will be fired this season by week 8
This team is putting alot faith in players coming off major injuries
This team is obviously just plain cursed ,and year after year people jump all over the train and year after year since the York’s have owned this team it’s a train wreck by week 7
We couldn’t beat Josh Rosen and the Cardinals
    We can’t win in Seattle

    1. Uplifting.
But I get the point BT. I went with 8-10 wins last year and we only squeezed out 4. The 49ers need to learn how to win. A winning culture is established when the front office, ownership, coaches and players all become driven with winning every game.

During the 49ers glory years, the winning culture was established by players like Montana, Clark, Craig, Jones, Rice, Taylor, Wrathman, Lott, Eric Wright, Bry. Young among others. That winning culture translated to about 20 straight season of 10+ wins.
The master-mind was Bill Walsh and the best owner in all of sports Eddie DeBartolo.

We are a long way from attaining that culture. But it has to start somewhere. If this team can get enough wins to make a playoff appearance this season they will be on their way.
I guess I’m a little more positive, BT.

      1. Keep everyone healthy, and we win more than 8 games. Shanny said we should have won 7 games last year with the team as depleted as it was. I don’t think 9 or more is out of the question….

    2. JG is a top 10 QB in the league when healthy.
The team overhauled the Trainer, and strength and conditioning staff, and nice guys will help change the culture, instead of the Ray MacDonalds, Aldon Smiths and Reuben Fosters of the world.
The team has dramatically improved their tackling from the 2016 season.
The draft has also had successes like Kittle, Colbert, McGlinchey and Warner.
The Yorks are the Yorks, and complaining about it will do no good. I am hopeful that Jed can grow and mature. I hope he learns from his mistakes, so he does not repeat them.
I miss Candlestick. Levis will become full if they can string together some victories. Winning cures all.
I think the coaching changes will get them to play their best players, and put them in positions to succeed.
I think they have learned, and will accentuate their strengths, instead of showcasing their deficiencies.
Saleh will do a lot better with Joe Woods helping. JW used to be the DC for the Broncos.
That is all they can do. Hope the players can recover from injuries, and keep them healthy.
Hope springs eternal, and there may be JG imitating Joe, and KS channeling BW.
Let’s see how JG does against the Cards, and Rosen may be traded away.
They broke the losing streak, and beat the Seahawks. Maybe they can start a winning streak against them.
      .
The Niners have improved, and actually competed well against playoff teams with their third string QB. They are not too far off from being competitive. If they manage to hit a grand slam in the draft, they may become relevant.
      .
I will hope for the best, and expect the worst. 8-8 is a realistic record.

  10. 6 wins total with 2 late in the season. This is a bad team. Think Detroit Lions. A few names to make it sellable on prime time but no true continuity or leadership.

    1. Jed’s just lucky his uncle was so good cause otherwise this franchise has been pretty much a joke ,but people will always support the Niners cause of the past..This franchise is a joke with the York’s,no different than the Browns ,Cardinals or any other perennial losing team you can think of..It’s all about the legacy and that’s what people will always hold onto

      1. Wow Big Tone. That’s a nasty comparison being this franchise was a horrible officiated game away from winning and entering two super bowls in this decade.

    2. Joe Staley said that Buckner provides locker room leadership on a Frank Gore level.

  11. Tampa Bay -W
    Bengals -W
    Steelers- L
    Browns- L
    Rams -L
    Washington- W
    Carolina – W
    Cards -W
    Seahawks -W
    Cards -W
    Packers – L
    Ravens – L
    Saints – L
    Falcons – W
    Rams – L
    Seahawks – L
    .
Niners end up with an 8-8 Season. That is twice as many as last season, so it would be a marked improvement.
    .
I think the Browns will win because the Niners usually lose after the Bye. The one game I was hesitant on was the Packers game. If Rodgers and his team implodes, the Niners may have a chance. That would give the Niners a 9-7 record. If the Steelers falter because they lost their RB and WR, the Niners may win that game, so they could have a 10-6 record and a good shot at the playoffs. That is only if the planets align, and the Niners avoid the injury bug.
    .
I think the Niners will not beat the Rams, since they are a SB team. I had them splitting games with the Seahawks, and assumed they would win both of the Cards games. However, if Murray shines, it will be a lot harder to win both of those games, and we have to remember that the Cards swept the Niners last year.

    1. Yeah not sure how Rodgers is gonna handle there new young coach..Things are stinking in GB but you can never count out Rodgers even with a lack luster roster

      1. That hit piece on Rodgers could either tear the team apart, or make them tighter, with an- Us against the world mentality.

  12. 5-11
Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 8, 1:25 pm at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. L

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 15, 10:00 am at the Cincinnati Bengals. L

Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 22, 1:25 pm vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. W

    Week 4: Bye.

Week 5: Monday, Oct. 7, 5:15 pm vs. the Cleveland Browns. L

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 13, 1:05 pm at the Los Angeles Rams. L

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 20, 10:00 am at the Washington Redskins. W

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 27, 1:05 pm vs. the Carolina Panthers. W

Week 9: Thursday, Oct. 31, 5:15 pm at the Arizona Cardinals. W

Week 10: Monday, Nov. 11, 5:15 pm vs. the Seattle Seahawks. L

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 17, 1:05 pm vs. the Arizona Cardinals, W

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 24, 1:25 pm vs. the Green Bay Packers. L

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 1, 10:00 am at the Baltimore Ravens. L

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 8, 10:00 am at the New Orleans Saints. L

Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 15, 1:25 vs. the Atlanta Falcons. L

Week 16: Saturday or Sunday, Dec. 21 or 22 vs. the Los Angeles Rams. L

Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 29, 1:25 pm at the Seattle Seahawks. L

  13. I see nine potential wins from that schedule, with games against the Steelers, Browns, Panthers, Ravens, and Falcons currently looking like toss-ups.

  14. Mid,
    I agree.
I remember the Browns beating us a few years ago with of all people, Johnnie Manzel.
Today, Cleveland is much better with Baker Mayfield, OBJ, Nick Chubb, Jarvis Landry, Denzel Ward, Myles Garrett and David Njoku. That type of talent has the potential to win 10-12 games this year. The Ravens and Steelers will not be pushovers either.

CFC, is calling for 5 wins, which I believe is to low. Razor is saying 11 wins which I believe is to high.
I’m calling for 8-8 record, and I might be pushing it a little too high on that.
    TBD.

  15. Calling this teams record is like having that car with a big fast engine prepared for a cross country race. (Shannys offense)
Problem is the rest of the car.
Tires always seem to go flat, (injuries)
runs out of gas (milking it because they’re out of playoff contention)
, things start knocking under the hood.
    (Problem players)
Until they can get this “car” built for road trips and making it one piece,
it’s impossible to predict what place they’ll finish this marathon race.

I’ll give a just for fun prediction after the draft

  16. 7 Wins.

We split with our division rivals and win games against the Bengals, Redskins, Panthers and the Falcons

  17. Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 8, 1:25 pm at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. W – Bucs learning new offense.
Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 15, 10:00 am at the Cincinnati Bengals. W – Cinci with a new coach and new systems.
Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 22, 1:25 pm vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. W – Home Opener and Pitt is on the decline.
Week 4: Bye. WAY TOO EARLY for a bye but 3-0 looks good.
Week 5: Monday, Oct. 7, 5:15 pm vs. the Cleveland Browns. L – For some reason the 9ers always play poorly out of a bye.
Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 13, 1:05 pm at the Los Angeles Rams. L – Rams will win the division even w/o Gurley.
Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 20, 10:00 am at the Washington Redskins. W – Redskins will be one of the worst teams in NFL.
Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 27, 1:05 pm vs. the Carolina Panthers. L – Panthers are streaky and the 9ers catch’em on the wrong week.
Week 9: Thursday, Oct. 31, 5:15 pm at the Arizona Cardinals. W- Cards will be awful.
Week 10: Monday, Nov. 11, 5:15 pm vs. the Seattle Seahawks. W – Ciara is out of town shopping so RW is depressed.
Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 17, 1:05 pm vs. the Arizona Cardinals, W – Cards still awful. Kingsbury is worse.
Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 24, 1:25 pm vs. the Green Bay Packers. L – Packers will be more disciplined next year.
Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 1, 10:00 am at the Baltimore Ravens. W – Lamar Jackson’s nightmare season continues.
Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 8, 10:00 am at the New Orleans Saints. L – Saints on the back end of two 10AM games is too much.
Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 15, 1:25 vs. the Atlanta Falcons. L – Quinn & the boys want to prove it wasn’t all Shanahan.
Week 16: Saturday or Sunday, Dec. 21 or 22 vs. the Los Angeles Rams. L – Rams are better than the 49ers.
Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 29, 1:25 pm at the Seattle Seahawks. L – Ciara bought something special if RW brings home a win.

In a weird twist the 49ers go 3-5 at home and 5-3 on the road for an 8-8 record missing the playoffs but hope for the future abounds. 49ers trade back in the draft and pick Parris Campbell (WR OH St) at pick #27 causing a series of 18 consecutive “Lynch must be fired” articles from Grant Cohn. Jimmy G has just an OK season which is written off as being due to recovery time for the ACL. Just wait until next year, everyone says. Late in the season, Shanahan is seen berating JG on the sideline for poor footwork and missed throws causing a series of roughly 28 consecutive “Hot Seat” articles by Grant Cohn. Jerick McKinnon proves to be a non-factor in the offense. 49ers have a top 10 scoring offense and the RB rotation is Coleman and Breida. No WR breaks 1k yards receiving. Kittle leads the offense in receptions. The #2 CB turns in a surprisingly excellent season which causes teams to go after Richard Sherman with great success in the 2nd half of the season. 49ers consider moving him to Safety late in the season but never make the move. D-line play is greatly improved with above average pass rush but poor LB play as Kwon Alexander doesn’t finish the season due to a separate but related injury to his ACL. Pass defense is top 15 but run defense is bottom 15 causing a series of roughly 34 consecutive “Why the hell did the 9ers go to the Wide 9 tech on defense” articles from Grant Cohn complete with video “proof” of why Cohn should actually be coaching the defense instead of Saleh.

It’s a wrap boys. Take it to the bank. 8-8.

      1. Saleh has been coaching football since Grant was in elementary school. Pretty sure Saleh is a better coach than Grant would be at any level.

        1. Saleh has been coaching since Sean McVay was in high school. Does that make him a better HC too?

          1. Whine,
The way Grant throws players under the bus there’s good reason to believe that he would lose the locker room on his first day of the job.
But he would be an awesome Monday morning coach ?

            1. Yeah, there’s that. Some people here don’t know when I’m kidding. I will say though, I’m not kidding that Saleh needs to be replaced before we’re ready for the big time.

          2. So you’re comparing Sean McVay to Grant Cohn? Really? Wow! Considering Grant never played football and McVay played in college, I’ll have to give the edge to McVay in the coaching dept.

      2. Joe Woods will help Saleh with his DC experience, and Kocurek will put the right players in their best positions to succeed.
        .
The removal of Hafley will help the DBs immensely.
        .
Now, if only KS will hire MS as his OC……

  18. They appear to be an improved team already. If they draft well and avoid serious injuries they could win between 7-10 games. If they don’t win at least 7 games there will probably be huge turnover in management and the coaching staff maybe including JL and / or KS.

  19. Interesting schedule. Usually we start off tough and end with some easier games but this is pretty much the opposite. It would be nice if we can get off to a good start for once. But I dont see many winnable game down the stretch, but hey that’s how you separate the winners and losers. We need a solid draft and Jimmy G to play up to his contract. If that happens is see 10 wins. If not maybe 7.

  20. Like a good soldier I’m going to hope for the best but plan for the worst. If the new talent comes close to the high expectations there’s still some things that land on Kyle’s plate. His record in the first half of the season is 1-16 and his record on the road is only slightly less bad. Also there’s the Red Zone and 4th quarter things. Most here are projecting significant improvement in all those areas. Oh, almost forgot, there’s the Jed and Paraag thing too. Hope for the best – plan for the worst. Should be interesting.

  21. Every year there are at least 2 teams who come from out of no where and at least 2 teams who seem to be locks on the playoffs who under perform. I believe the 9ers could be one of the former this year if they hit a home run with the draft.

  22. I still don’t know what to think about Saleh.
The roster in SF was devoid of talent… and the defense has had less talent than the offense. The best player on the team is Buckner and while the line looks good now whether due to talent or injuries, he has not had dependable edge rushers, linebackers, corners or safeties.
However, they have drafted many players to try and solve their issues but those players have either not been good enough or not developed properly. The question becomes is it a talent evaluation problem or a coaching problem? Let’s hope whatever it is they get it rectified or both he and Kylie will likely be looking for new jobs and SF will be back to square 1, with the new coach looking to bring in “his guys”. :/
