49ers close draft with selection of Brock Purdy

Welcome to San Francisco, Mr. Irrelevant.

With the 262nd pick in the NFL Draft, the 49ers selected quarterback Brock Purdy from Iowa State.

Purdy burst onto the scene by leading Iowa State to upset victories over Oklahoma and TCU in 2019. Since then, the shine around Purdy has dimmed.

Purdy completed a career high 71.7% of his passes his senior year, throwing for 3,188 yards and 19 touchdowns with eight interceptions, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors, a year after making first-team all-conference.

His athleticism, ability to work off play action and hit throws over the middle makes Purdy a solid project quarterback for the 49ers practice squad.

I had Purdy going to the 49ers at 262 in my mock draft, so this has to be my favorite 49ers selection of the draft.

  1. i think we all know for sure that jimmy g is definitely out the door now….surely?

    1. That’s been known since the 9ers traded up for Lance. The problem, is the 9ers don’t want to cut him and get nothing in return.

    2. It’s just a matter of time before Garoppolo is gone, unless they don’t plan on giving a new contract to Samuel.
