49ers drop exhibition finale with most key players out of action

SANTA CLARA — The Junior Varsity Los Angeles Chargers sent the Junior Varsity 49ers a message during the preseason finale Thursday night.

The message: Our backups are slightly better than yours.

The 49ers lost on the final play — a 36-yard field goal by Chargers backup kicker Robert Aguayo, who gave the Chargers a 23-21 victory.

Most starters for both teams did not suit up, with two big exceptions: Defensive end Solomon Thomas and linebacker Reuben Foster both played. Thomas was on the field for the 49ers’ first defensive series, and Foster for their first three.

Foster played just five days after suffering a concussion during the 49ers’ dress-rehearsal preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. He immediately entered the NFL’s concussions protocol. The 49ers cleared him Wednesday.

“Once he got out of the protocol and felt good, that’s what we planned on doing as long as he was healthy,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game in the 49ers auditorium.

  1. Well, we got that one out of the way. On to Minnesota! At least we reduced the number of penalties again…down to 5. Not so good with the turnovers.

Now for the fun of releasing players and reacting to whatever talent may be made available across the league.

  2. “The message: Our backups are slightly better than yours”

Based on a last second FG created by a special teams breakdown, which consisted of a bunch of scrubs who will likely be among the first cuts on Saturday?

    Preposterous.

FYI Grant, the final score in these meaningless games, especially a two point difference decided on the final play in the pre season finally, means NOTHING. It certainly isn’t indicative of one teams backups being “slightly better than the others”. The 49ers had more first downs, more total yards, more yards per play, less penalties yards, more time of possession, and held the lead late in this meaningless contest.

Please, please get a fricken clue dude, I beg of you!

    1. Overreacting to pre season football is bad enough. Using the final score (a win via a last second FG) as some kind of measuring stick, while the team stats paint a different picture, is idiotic and absolutely amateurish!

      Just saying!

BTW, in case you weren’t watching, or were watching and simply missed it, 2 fumbles inside the Niners own redzone was the difference, not the overall talent of their backup players. SMH!

    2. Of course Grant would never tell you that. He just can’t say positive things about the 49ers.

  3. Wow, such hyperbole, reacting to Grant’s article.
    .
I thought Grant nailed it. Meaningless game. Their backups were slightly better than the Niner scrubs. Only thing interesting was seeing Foster, Garnett and Thomas playing, risking injury.
    .
Glad they got out of the contest relatively healthy, and was happy they reduced the amount of penalties.
    .
The 2 fumbles were unfortunate, so I hope the Niners learned that fumbles can prevent victory.
    .
Now, the entire focus should be on the 53 cuts. Yes, they will be painful, but some hopes and dreams will be fulfilled.
    .
I fully expect some lower teams will poach a couple cut Niner players, and I hope the Niners will scour the waiver wire to find a couple players from playoff teams that can improve the squad.
    .
Wonder if Earl Mitchell might be traded to Washington, since they lost their NT.

    1. Mitchell may be gone, because DJ Jones shined.
      .
Niners will not risk Richie James to the waiver wire, because he will be snapped up in a heartbeat.

    2. Meaningless game

Now, the entire focus should be on the 53 cuts.

You don’t think those of the cut focus thought that game was “meaningless”?

If only we had a similar blog roster cut down. Starting at the top.

      1. Hmm, starting at the top? Guess you are unclear of the concept. They are cutting those at the bottom, an area where I deem is your ken.
        .
So, enlighten me with your brilliance. Who will be cut?

        1. They cut from the bottom. Doesn’t mean we have to. Who should be cut? Anyone who thinks an exhibition to help determine if one has a job or not is “meaningless “ is a great place to start. And yes, I’m starting at the top.

            1. I’m not fond of anybody with malignant narcissistic personality disorder. Doesn’t matter if thier tiny fingers or poised over the nuclear button, or over their keyboard spilling out insipid sports blather. Both make the world a worse place.

Voting may be the best way to deal with the Orange glow.

          1. Rib, the Niners have already made their assessments, and contests against 3rd stringers do not produce much meaningful insight.
            .
Maybe Garnett, by playing well, will change their assessment, and Richie James cemented a spot on the roster, but most of the other players are deemed expendable. Some players may have dropped their chances to make the team, and some have fumbled away opportunities. Some have whiffed on their chance to make the team, but please do not declare that this game was the only deciding factor.

            1. The only deciding factor? I said “to help determine…“. I couldn’t care less if you read my postings as I scroll right by yours, but when you do please don’t twist my words.

              1. Rib, you read every syllable.

              2. In your fever dreams, Trump-esque narcissist. The size of your wall of text is in inverse proportion to my likelihood of spending a couple of seconds there for a laugh.

      2. Let me clarify: Meaningless in terms of final score, winning by 2 points or losing by 2 points. Important in terms of player evaluation.

  4. Grant’s Revelation 21:8…

“But the cowardly [those fearful of crossing over the middle], the scrubs, the unskilled, the overweight, the unbenders [tall rookie offensive linemen], those who are glorified offensive coordinators, those prone to injury, and all falsely drafted [deemed to be drafted too high] – they will be consigned to the fiery lake of a failed season, or worse–skid row.”

    1. There are two types of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don’t. Grant Cohn loves him.

      1. but you gotta admit … he wrote some pretty
good songs ….( for other artists) …

        ** ear worm for today **… =>
        “Brother Love’s Travelin’ Salvation Show”

      2. If you know the subject of Sweet Caroline, there should be an amber alert every time that song is aired.

          1. Direct from the perv himself:

Diamond, 66, said he was a “young, broke songwriter” in the ‘60s when he saw a cute photo of Caroline Kennedy in a magazine. “It was a picture of a little girl dressed to the nines in her riding gear, next to her pony,” he recalled. “It was such an innocent, wonderful picture, I immediately felt there was a song in there.”

            http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2007/11/photo_hulton_archivegetty_imag.html

Corroboration > fake news. Considering the lyrics I’d be changing my story too.

    2. I think Grant should start a new post debating whether Lal’s son should be signed on to the practice squad at the expense of Mullins.

  5. Pre season is over and no major injuries, that’s a good thing. Good to see Garnett and Cooper getting lots of reps they needed it. The depth on the O-line especially tackle is really lacking. The depth on the D-line seems really strong. I don’t expect any real surprises on the roster couple of backup positions up in the air. Bring on the Vikings.

  6. LOL the Rams just gave out one of the worst contracts in the history of the league. 22.5 mill average for a DT. I don’t care how good Donald is, that is an insane contract especially when the FT amount was less than 14 mill this season.

Raiders might as well prepare to trade Mack after the season.

  7. While watching the game, I was reminded that the league wants me to believe that Gino Smith is a better QB than Kaep.

  8. Funny Razor, Neil Diamond is the only concert I ever attended (my girlfriend and now wife of 37 years dragged me there) at the Cow Palace where I actually nodded off and started sawing logs! She did however wake me up to the always entertaining encore “Sweet Caroline”! Doesn’t surprise me Grant is a fan. 1000-1 so is Seb. In fact I’ll bet he has “POACHED” the entire vinyl collection of ND!
On the Niners, I think they should “POACH”as many players off “waiver wire” as possible, especially from future opponents, that way they can “POACH” intel. In fact I would make it team policy to have all remaining players “POACH” an egg every morning for strength, and resist temptation to “POACH” teammates girlfriends and wives as our former and now and forever unemployed QB practiced. To “POACH or not to “POACH”? That is the question.

    1. Juan …

Can’t believe you slept through the song “Comin’ to America”…
At the height of the song was a very loud cannon going off..
It just about blew out my ear drums ! I was standing right next to it)
(yeah, I was there .. taking pictures for the wifey — huge fan)

      1. This is why I check in every now and then , you guys are hilarious… sometimes you too Grant

    2. Morning Juan.
      .
No way in hell. I am a Grateful Dead fan.
      .
I just saw what Eli Harold said about the Niners. He sure wants to sack JG.
      .
You can bet your sweet bippy that he has spilled his guts, giving the Niners second opponent, valuable intel.
      .
Harold probably gave a player by player Niner scouting report to the whole team.

      1. Oooooo…… Like Detroit has no other means of learning about 9er play calling and player strengths/weaknesses. Sebbie, this is 2018, not 1963.

Your world view–in some ways–is trapped in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. TV series…

        1. what I’d give for Seb to be permanently attached to the “cone-of-silence”
Oh, wait ..wrong 60’s tv spy show…Get Smart was it’s name, and how appropriate too!

      2. What intel are you always referring to? You act like what some teams are doing is highly secretive and original. It’s football. Maybe a play call here or there can be divulged but there is always a progression in each play call so it’s not like teams have not studied tendencies of coaches and players they will face in the offseason daily. I’m guessing you have never played organized football?

        1. Seb play football? That’s funny. No Seb plays with rocks. Did you know that he once moved a 2 ton boulder all by himself?

          1. Was that the time he also held on to his beer while being slugged by a guy–the guy thinking Sebbie was poaching his girl?

              1. I do recall that he fell off a ladder (or out of a tree) with his chainsaw and cheated death…

          2. You still do not know how I did that. Yes, I applied leverage, but the process is beyond your mental capacity to figure out how I did that.

            1. No one cares! You try to look smart when we are making fun of you. You still can’t see that? Slowwwww you are!

              1. Prime, you seem desperate, regurgitating old posts, to try and diss me.
                .
Remember, Kaep is going forward with his lawsuit, and a storm is coming.

              1. No I like the one where he went to a party and twisted some dudes arm off. Tell us that one!

      3. The only valuable intel that Detroit has gotten from us is that Eli Harold is sh**ty linebacker.

    3. Yeah we dont need no stinking pass rush….let’s just poach some Intel. Because players that dont make NFL rosters DEFINITELY are trusted with their teams deepest and darkest strategic secrets and have personnel dossiers.
Man you’re so blissfully unaware that you are a complete moron. Even when you’re told so by many people. George Carlin had it so right….Never argue with an idiot because they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

  9. let’s see. Harold played all last season, so he knows all the defensive schemes. Saleh was installing his defense, and I guess you are assuming he will throw the old playbook away and do something totally new.
    .
One thing opposing coaches do not have access to is the opponent’s locker room. Harold could provide keen insights on tendencies and weaknesses. He could give nuanced insights about locker room dynamics. Those are pretty important things that game film will never provide.
    .
Harold was not a scrub. He was a starter, so he played in that system. He has intimate knowledge that could prove invaluable, and could be the difference between winning and losing.
    .
JL may have made another unforced error. Maybe he thinks that the Niners can beat Detroit, even with Harold spilling his guts.
    .
I remember ripping Baalke for trading away players to future opponents. He traded Ricky Jean Francois to the Colts, and Parys Haralson to the Saints, and the Niners lost both of them that season. That cost the Niners home field advantage, so they had to go up to Seattle, and they lost the NFCC Game.
    .
Posters who do not understand what intel is all about, lack intelligence.

    1. They lost that game to the saints because of a terrible roughing the passer call on Ahmed Brooks. They win that game they had Home field

    2. -Harold could provide keen insights on tendencies and weaknesses.

That’s all picked up on film study already. Not sure also what lockerroom dynamics has to do with being able to snuff out a play.
I think you are reaching about the value of playing for a team then that player shares that playbook with his new team. These coaches have seen it all and study relentlessly. They don’t need a player to tell them what comes next. You obviously have never played organized football at any level right?

      1. Seb doesn’t understand football which is why he thinks there is a great advantage to poaching players for intel. I’m not even going to bother with why there isn’t an advantage and teams already know everything they need to know because most of the people on here aren’t reading from a Football for Dummies manual and giving what they believe to be keen insights.

      2. Chris, please describe your own football career. I know TrollD claims to have played, but he is as dumb as a box of rocks. Probably too many blows to the head.

        1. I played highschool football and now coach at my sons highschool. I’m just saying that “intel” at the pro level is irrelevant because these coaches study each player from top to bottom and there is no scheme they haven’t seen at that level. It might work at my level but not the pros.

          1. Chris, I played soccer in college. I was the left fullback, in which I usually had the best striker to mark.
            .
Yes, football is not exactly the same as soccer, but there are basic strategies and tactics that are very similar. I also played club soccer for years, and have helped coach teams.

        2. Sebbie…. For someone of your cognitive stature, can you drop the worn out cliches? At least develop and exploit new ones. Box of rocks…c’mon. Right up there shooting feet.

            1. “segue” the smooth transition from one thought/idea/statement…

              Not the motorized personal transport….

              Jeez Louise….enough already…

              1. Thank you tjf!

For someone who claims to be “verbose” he certainly has many witless episodes! I always get a laugh when he claims this as being verbose is not a good thing! Some alternative words that can be used for someone who is verbose include: bombastic, repetitive, redundant, windy and tedious! I think he thinks himself a wordsmith but he is certainly verbose in its true meaning, not what he thinks.

As to his acumen…lol. Knowing a few things about soccer doesn’t give you any insights into football. They are very different games.

Seb is the quintessential village idiot! Everyone laughs at him and he still goes about doing his thing, thinking he is smarter than everyone without realizing he’s the clown.

              2. Segue is a smooth transition, and apt segue way is an apt way to transition.
                .
I did not type segway, which is a 2 wheeled transport.
                .
49 is just crushed because Connor Cook just lost his backup QB job. 49 tried to write voluminous dissertations praising Connor Cook, but his lack of football acumen, is exposed because EJ Manuel is a better QB, and EJ Manuel is a lower tier QB who failed in Buffalo.

    3. Sebbie —

While dazzling yourself with your dizzying intellect, be careful not to hyperventilate, okay? At such lofty heights the air is thin. We wouldn’t want you to pass out due to oxygen starvation while lost in self-congratulatory bliss.

Remember, John Lynch cannot function unless he reads every post you make–every one. For you to leave this blog–even for a few hours due to hypoxia–would cause Lynch to go off the rails, further jeopardizing the 9er season. Think big picture Sebbie…

    4. Man! Nobody else can make up stuff this stupid!
Pathetic, delusional, demented drivel-The Sebbian standard

    5. “Harold played all last season, so he knows all the defensive schemes.”
      Seb

      Did he?
Harold only had minimal contribution on the team. He wins the award for being a starter that had the ability to disappear for an entire season.

My guess is that whatever Intel Harold gives Detroit won’t be enough to stop our offense and hold off our defense.

      1. AES, maybe he was only obtained for his intel, and they plan to cut him after they play, so they do not have to give up a draft choice.

  10. Hey MWNiner, I think I remember the cannon going off! That was a tough nite!! I had just started my business and was working basically 16 hour days 7 days a week! I was a zombie when I walked in the door! Two songs in and I was done! All kidding aside he’s not bad. I’d see him again before I’d see “The Grateful Dead” for God’s sake. The most overrated band in the history of bands! Talk about a yawner! Jeesh. It makes so much sense that Seb is a fan, and not surprising in the least. It fits well with the whole pot smoking, Sebastopol living, Waldorf schooling, Berkeleyess liberal leaning lifestyle Seb has poached. Whatever turns your screw I say!
As for football, Seb gets all his football acumen from a textbook, most likely “Football for Dummies”. That’s why everything he spouts about the game are just basic , obvious observations, and repeated over and over and over again. Nothing revolutionary there. Maybe when they come out with volume 2.

    1. No, I read books like Building a Champion, Finding the Winning Edge and The Score Takes Care of Itself.
      .
Sounds like you have intimate knowledge about Football for Dummies. Guess you can relate.

      1. I would suggest presenting facts about intel and its impact before concluding it is an advantage for when players sign with other teams.

        1. Recently, there was an article about a player who went to another team, and the coaches asked him to stand up before the entire team, and give a player by player assessment of the entire team.
          .
Guess those coaches were clueless to do that, according to some posters on this site.

            1. Seahawks poached Michael Robinson, Will Tukuafu, Ricardo Lockette and Nick Moody, and they have not lost to the Niners since.

              1. Freeekin Seb-skov!

All that pot you brag about smokin has messed up the relays in your head. The Hags poaching those players is not why they beat the 9ers! They beat arse on the 9ers because they have superior personnel-from ownership on down to the least player.

U STILL wandering around in “Reds Recovery Room”? “Marty’s Top O’ The Hill”? Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

            2. He’s referencing the Browns who did that with Mychal Kendricks prior to their preseason game against Philly.

It was shown on Hard Knocks.

            1. James Harrison, for one. He helped the Pats defeat the Steelers last season.
              .
Eagles had Chris Long and Blount give intel on the Pats.

              1. James Harrison, for one. He helped the Pats defeat the Steelers last season.

LOL. The Pats haven’t lost to the Steelers in 5 games straight going back to 2011. And only twice going back before the turn of the century. Geez, who’s been feeding them all this intel season after season?

                What a marooon.

        2. Gas, I did. Baalke traded Ricky Jean Francois to the Colts and Parys Haralson to the Saints. They were future opponents that season. Niners lost both of those games, by a whisker.

      2. Sebbie…. You’re slipping! What about Sun Tzu?

I imagine you have a signed copy, with a very special inscription just for you.

Oh, do you read the Costco Connections magazine? Some good stuff Sebbie!

  11. Rubbing my hands together in anticipation, waiting for Coffee to set up this year’s pro football pick ’em league. Get ‘er done, and let’s play!

  12. A great example of how little relevance teams place on preseason superstars: the Raiders cut the 6th ranked WR in preseason yardage and who scored 3 TD’s in last nights game. I doubt Richie James gets cut at this point due to the way injuries have impacted ST’s, but don’t be surprised if he is. There are a ton of receivers who have outproduced him and they are going to be cut by their respective teams. Happens every year.

    1. Correction, Hatcher was 9th not 6th. NFL.com hadn’t completely updated yet. I also didn’t mean to insinuate what James has done isn’t impressive. He did finish 3rd in yardage and looks like a keeper long term. Just adding to a discussion I had with One Niner on another thread where he couldn’t believe I would even suggest James wasn’t a lock to make the team.

    2. He’s not a lock, but I think he makes the team. I know what you’re saying, but James also looked very good in his route running, and produced when given an opportunity with the 1s.

      1. No question. My poor attempt at clarifying a discussion from an earlier thread may have made it seem like I didn’t want him, but that’s definitely not the case which is why I responded to myself ;)

        1. Am sure you see the talent in him….just surprised you would think they will let him go….

He’s not a lock, but I think he makes the team.

RJ makes the team and is a lock for years up come…

  13. Seb, your right, I do read Football for Dummies, vicariously through you, every time I read one of your obvious pontifications! Keep them coming! You bring a unmatched brand of humor to this site to which I look forward to reading. You always make me laugh and you do it with a kind heart without being too abrasive. I respect that! :)

  14. I think the Niners should sign the Vikings play by play announcer. He studies them daily. Watches every play. Knows the players inside out. Imagine the intel.

    1. No, no, I advocated looking hard at Roc Thomas or Michael Boone. They are 4th and 5th on the depth chart, so they may become available.
      .
Actually, come to think about it, he may be an upgrade from the present Niner announcers……

    2. They’re going to do it….I just know that they’re going to do it….sometime on Saturday, Lynch/ Shannahan are going to attempt to salvage their ’17 draft by keeping Solomon Thomas on the 53, and releasing a bigger, stronger, faster, player with better vision…Ronnie Blair lll. This is only to save Lynch’s GM credentials. Thomas belongs on the PC for at least another year….

    3. Too….9ers should single out the most opinionated ‘hot take’ Vikings beatwriter/blogger and pay whatever he/she wants to dish–all that bullet-proof intel, just dripping, waiting to be exploited.

    1. I was wondering if KS would be able to waive his draft day “favorites” or if his ego might prevent that. Glad to see he is moving on from a player that is not yet ready to make the team. Having said that. maybe Williams will make the PS.

      1. Like I said last year. This guy doesn’t have it. He runs robotic and outside of his straight line speed is not a natural runner. Good Job by Kyle to move on quickly on a mistake.

    2. This is a case where I wish I was wrong about a player. Scooter and I were vehemently against drafting Williams, and as we found out, so was Lynch. We were overruled by Shanny and Grant….

        1. Yep. Getting an established vet rather than just a guy at that point, and then giving McNichols the 1st team reps, was a clear message about what the CS thought of Williams.

Its a shame as he has talent. But talent only takes you so far.

      1. I can’t remember the exact wording, but according to Peter King before the 2017 draft Lynch and Shanahan created internal guidelines on what kind of players they draft from an attitude standpoint. They made an exception for Williams. Made a last moment decision to trade up for him.

Williams may be the 49ers most talented back… and could be out of football.

Like lots of fans I fell in love with his college highlights. Not just his open field runs. His short yardage runs were impressive too. Maybe he’ll wind up on the practice squad.

      2. Love the hindsight draft analysis Razor ;)

I had no problem with the pick. He was an explosive runner in College and looked like he would fit the system. I think the fumbling issues got to him last year and affected him greatly this year. He wasn’t running with intent; he was running not to fumble. Injuries didn’t help either. You win some/ you lose some.

        1. That one isn’t just hindsight analysis. Razor and I were pretty vocal before the draft about not wanting to take him.

          1. ScooterMcG

will we be privy to both yourself and Razor backtracking when Williams (Joe) clears waivers and the niners pick him up on the PS…?

  15. I miss Lon Simmons and Joe Starkey Seb. Ted is just OK. He’s better doing tennis. ;)

    1. Would have been a blast to hear a game broadcast by Lon Simmons, with Grant as expert color guy.

  16. No longer on the team. Grant you need a new topic to keep track of the cuts.

G Chris Gonzalez (per Matt Maiocco)
P Jeff Locke (per Matt Barrows)
DT Chris Jones (per Matt Maiocco)
T Pace Murphy (per Matt Barrows)
WR Aldrick Robinson (per Matt Maiocco)
T Darrell Williams (per Matt Barrows)
RB Joe Williams (per Tom Pelissero)

  17. Here’s what’s being reported over at NN:

    RB Joe Williams — waived
    DL Chris Jones — waived
    P Jeff Locke — released
    OL Chris Gonzalez — waived
    OT Darrell Williams — waived
    OL Pace Murphy — waived
    WR Aldrick Robinson — released

    Reuben Foster — Reserve/Suspended
    Victor Bolden — Reserve/Suspended

I was disappointed in Darrell William’s performance last night – was hoping that he could replace Gilliam as the backup tackle.

    1. Darrell Williams was last preseason’s Marcus Rush or Mike Purcell. I didn’t really understand the hype as he was always going against 3rd and 4th team players and while he looked ok he wasn’t really dominant. He got shown up against the Chargers 2nd stringers for what he is – a good 3rd/4th team player.

      1. Out of curiousity, do you think Jullian Taylor is hyped? I don’t; he’s played with the ones and I fully expect him to make the 53.

        1. A little bit, in that some people on here have made comments along the lines he can step right in for Armstead and play at the same level. But unlike Williams I think Taylor has shown he isn’t out of place playing against NFL talent. As a rookie, that is impressive.

        2. Cubus,
Keep in mind that Julian Taylor has played in less than 30 football games (I think it is 28 games including the 4 pre-season games) at any level in his entire life.

      2. “He got shown up against the Chargers 2nd stringers for what he is”… a turnstile. Oooof he was bad last night

      1. So true cubus, so true! Baalke couldn’t identify an NFL caliber WR if his life depended on it!

    1. Some credit goes to Mike Lafleur and Shanhan for coaching them up and familiarizing them to the scheme so quickly…

No I think that was the time where he (Seb) got a little dicey with a chainsaw I believe?

I do recall that he fell off a ladder (or out of a tree) with his chainsaw and cheated death…

    Meaningless game

Now, the entire focus should be on the 53 cuts.
You don’t think those of the cut focus thought that game was “meaningless”?
If only we had a similar blog roster cut down. Starting at the top.

I’m not fond of anybody with malignant narcissistic personality disorder. Doesn’t matter if their tiny fingers or poised over the nuclear button, or over their keyboard spilling out insipid sports blather. Both make the world a worse place.

Reply: Seb is a beacon for the other keyboard toughies who’ve taken a slug to the jaw; out-armwrestled all at the kegger party, all striving for the impossible in the same sanitarium.

  19. Anybody else think the Aaron Donald deal is too much? Obviously he is a great talent, but to me, defensive tackle is a position that is much easier to fill than edge rusher.

Florio stated that over the next three years of his deal, Donald will make $27 million above the amount he would make if he was on the last year of his rookie deal plus two years of franchise tags.

If I were going to pay that kind of money to a non-QB, I’d spend the money on edge rusher. I just think that it is much easier to find very good DTs than edge rushers.

  20. Would like to extend an apology to Rebuild and Rocket for saying the Niners would not cut Joe Williams.
You were right I was wrong.

    1. No worries Prime. The only way to never be wrong is never post anything. I wish I could take back my “Tomsula will get the job done”. All based on that “meaningless” game at the end of the 2010 season. Lol.

  21. https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/browns-trade-ol-shon-coleman-to-49ers

    Browns receive:
    2019 seventh-round pick
    49ers receive:
    OL Shon Coleman
    *Pending physical

“Coleman started all 16 games last season at right tackle. After the offseason signing of Chris Hubbard, Coleman shifted to the left side, where he competed with a handful of others to replace future Hall of Famer Joe Thomas. After a week of camp, Coleman dropped down to the second-team offense and eventually shifted back to right tackle.”

  22. With the thin OT situation and the recent acquisition, does the trading of Trent Brown look like a gargantuan mistake?
