SANTA CLARA — This is the live blog for the 49ers’ Week 10 game against the New York Giants. I will update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

4:35 Here are the 49ers inactives:

  1. WR Pierre Garcon
  2. SS Jaquiski Tartt
  3. LB Reuben Foster
  4. OL Erik Magnuson
  5. DT Jullian Taylor
  6. OT Shon Coleman
  7. QB Tom Savage

4:36 WR Kendrick Bourne will start in place of Garcon.

4:37 Here are the Giants inactives:

  1. QB Kyle Lauletta
  2. DB Tony Lippett
  3. DB Kamrin Moore
  4. C Evan Brown
  5. WR Jawill Davis
  6. DL RJ McIntosh
  7. DL John Jenkins

5:15 The 49ers win the toss and defer. The Giants will receive the opening kickoff.

5:18 On the Giants first play, Odell Beckham Jr. drops a perfect pass from Eli Manning. On third-and-11, Manning throws a zero-yard pass to Evan Engram, and the Giants go three and out.

5:19 Richie James returns the punt 23 yards to the 49ers 46.

5:22 Robbie Gould makes a 53-yard field goal. The 49ers lead 3-0.

5:32 On third and 5 from the Giants 49, Manning throws a two-yard check-down pass over the middle to Barkley. The 49ers tip the pass and almost intercept it. The Giants are on the ropes already. The 49ers can go for the kill shot right here.

5:33 After the punt, the 49ers take over from the eight-yard line.

5:37 On second-and-12 from the 49ers 6, Mullens floats a throw to the sideline. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins tips the ball away from Kendrick Bourne and toward Giants linebacker B.J. Goodson, who intercepts the pass. Giants ball at the 49ers 12.

5:40 On third-and-8 from the 10, Manning steps up in the pocket and throws a touchdown pass to Beckham Jr., who was wide freaking open. How does a defense lose track of such a great receiver in the end zone? Giants lead 7-3.

5:51 On second and goal from the 3, Matt Breida runs into the end zone. The 49ers lead 10-7. They made that drive look easy. Never faced third down.

6:00 On third and 8, Manning attempts a three-yard pass, but DeForest Buckner knocks it down at the line of scrimmage. The Giants punt. The 49ers take over from their 15.

6:05 The Giants blitz on third and 3. Mullens throws a quick deep pass to Breida running a wheel route up the right sideline, but Mullens misses him. The 49ers punt.

6:22 On third and goal from the 3, no one covers Beckham, but Manning hands the ball to Barkley, and he gains zero yards. Huge break for the 49ers. The Giants kick a 20-yard field goal and tie the game at 10.

6:30 Mullens leads a 57-yard field-goal drive before halftime, and the 49ers lead 13-10.

7:04 The 49ers get the ball to the start the second half. The kickoff sails out of bounds, so the 49ers begin from their 40. Mullens calmly leads the offense 60 yards, and throws an 11-yard touchdown pass to Breida on third and 8. Breida was Mullens’ second read. Great poise. Great catch. The 49ers lead 20-10.

7:10 On third and 7 from the 49ers 20, Ahkello Witherspoon gives up a touchdown catch to Beckham Jr. Witherspoon never had a chance. The Giants trail 20-17.

7:17 Mullens completes a 14-yard pass to Kittle on third and 12. But, Kittle commits offensive pass interference — his second penalty of the game. On third and 22, Juszczyk runs a draw for three yards. Then, the 49ers punt.

7:23 Manning misses Beckham with an errant pass on third and 3 from the 49ers 13. Then, the Giants kick a 31-yard field goal, and tie the 49ers at 20.

7:32 On first and 20 from the 49ers 49, Mullens throws over the middle to Goodwin, who drops the ball and tips it to Goodson for his second interception of the game. Goodwin seemed at fault on that play. He ran, stopped, then ran again. Mullens expected him to stop.

7:36 The Giants go three and out. The 49ers defense hangs tough. The offense will take over from its 15.

7:42 On third and 9, Mullens throws an eight-yard pass to Dante Pettis, and the 49ers go three and out. They have squandered a 10-point second-half lead, and now have zero rhythm on offense. We’ve seen this before.

7:46 On the first play of the Giants series, Beckham Jr. beats Witherspoon deep, but Manning underthrows the pass and the 49ers break it up. Two plays later on third and 7, DeForest Buckner and Dekoda Watson sack Manning, then the Giants punt.

7:56 On third and 6 from the Giants 15, Mullens throws a three-yard pass to Kittle. Kyle Shanahan decides to kick the field goal, which Gould makes. The 49ers lead 23-20 with 2:46 remaining. The Giants have one timeout. They have more than enough time to tie or win. The defense must bail out Shanahan’s offense. Once again, Shanahan’s red-zone problems could cost him a win.

8:13 On second and 1 from the 49ers 3, Manning throws a TD pass to Sterling Shepard. D.J. Reed was in coverage. The Giants lead 27-23 with 53 seconds left. The 49ers have one timeout.

8:14 Witherspoon committed one penalty during that drive. Malcolm Smith committed two penalties.

8:21 On the final play of the game, Mullens throws a prayer into the end zone and the ball falls incomplete. Kyle Shanahan just blew another double-digit second-half lead. Remarkable. Stay tuned for my postgame Periscope.

  1. I see Julian Taylor once again is a healthy scratch. He had such a dynamic pre-season, getting a lot of snaps and playing with high energy and actually making plays. Why do the Niners not want to suit him up to see at least what he can do? They are red-shirting him and losing one of his seasons. Any reasons as to why??

    1. The coaching staff keeps saying Taylor is close to playing, but then they never play him. Bizarre. I’ll ask around.

    2. I think it is a numbers game. No Niner DL has been lost due to injury.
      .
The scouting report said he is very raw, Needs time.

  2. Hope Rebel is having a good time. The Niners invited the Paradise football team to the game.
    .
Hope he can smile for a while, and forget his tragic circumstances.

    1. I did seb except the ending , at the beginning of the game during the national anthem my nephew, Henry Beckart #52 is shown, paradise jersey, in between Nelson 68 and joe Staley 74.they treated the varsity well this is for Leo also , ironically the junior midget game is going to be played this Saturday after all paradise junior midget bobcats against junior Chico panthers , we get more details tomorrow, the air quality is still real bad. Going through the process, still could be up to two months before we can check out the rubble, glad we have insurance, but no places to rent crazy! Ironically I should of been at the game with my cousin who is a season ticket holder. But got two witness a good friend buying a used bike for my thirteen year old who lost everything except is football pads helmet, happened to be in the car he lived! Most important, schools in the area are gathering to supply equipment, my son is usually 63but game jerseys burned when the house went up, not sure what we will be wearing go bobcats!Leo how did your playoff game went? Tell me what team to cheer on! Bummer the Niners lost but showed spunk! We do have a go fund account but we have insurance and we are way luckier than most. Do not feel obligated, it is under John and Cris Dunlap, people at our professions wanted to help, so we agreed but my wife and I are usually more givers than receivers , so this is weird and makes me uncomfortable, just your support on this blog is worth, lost all my niner, giants and warriors gear, stuff from grandfather who shapped my niner loyality! Good to be alive!

      1. Rebel, glad you enjoyed yourself for 58 minutes. Now, the Niners need to learn how to finish games. Guess the silver lining is that they may have a top 5 pick, and I can guarantee that they will not lose next week (bye). ;p
        .
I talked with a friend whose nephew lost his home, and his nephew said it was like driving through hell to escape.
        .
You exemplify all that is the best with America, with your stoic self reliance, so I will just send a donation to the Red Cross for the benefit of the Camp Fire victims. I am sure you will approve since so many need help.
        .
This Saturday, I will root for a Bobcat victory. Hope your son scores a TD. Go Bobcats!

  3. Richard Rhondel James Jr. is an American football wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. ….????….

      1. Got it!

But there was a poster the other day named ‘draftaQB’ that used similar verbage…

        Yay!

  4. MNF has fallen a long way from the days of Howard, Frank and Dandy Don. Tesitore sounds like a guy that came off of Syracuse’s broadcast assembly line, Witten can barely complete a sentence and they make the black guy sit in his own little car outside the booth.

  5. where are all those that actually thought the pass rush was fix?? lol ….. all of those got excited because of the last game against the Raiders …

  6. Rookie mistake by Mullens. I can live with that. As an NFL fan, you’ve got to realize that rookie QB’s are going to make mistakes. I’m interested to see how he responds. Let’s see how he responds. We’ll find out what kind of mental strength this young kid has now!

    1. Yah baby, that’s how you want to see a young QB respond to a classic rookie mistake.

Very encouraging! This kid’s got a little somethin-somethin!

  7. Hey allie…. McGlinchey did a good job with his blocking assignment on that TD…

  8. Nice drive.
Mullens makes a difference in the offense.
2nd quarter and they are promoting the next game. No Respect.

  9. Mullins is doing well, but our receivers need to get separation. He is clearly checking his 1st and 2nd reads and nothing is there.

  10. I find it funny how the commentator says ” the Giants Oline are giving Eli some time today ” … nah bro the Niners Dline is giving Eli some time today …

  11. Dude he missed Goodwin on a deep post earlier today and threw it to his check down … he doesn’t have the arm bro.

    1. Something about this Mullens. The body language, the release. I think he’s got a chance to play in this league.

    1. Agree, but the receivers have to get separation. The Giants are squatting the underneath stuff.

      1. Pettis runs a good route.
        Gets separation.
        Ball is thrown behind him.
Pettis is aware enough to get a hand on the ball.
Possibly prevents an INT, and letting the Niners get a FG.

How is that a bad play by Pettis?

    1. The good: Kittle, Breida, and Warner
The okay: Mullens, the DL, and the red zone defense
      The bad: Sherman and Williams
      The ugly: The pass rush

  12. I like an alpha dog player that doesn’t talk chit on the field. I think George Kittle is becoming my favorite player on this team. Might have to get his jersey.

Boy, that anthem singer from the Navy had some pipes on him. Very well done.?‍?

  13. I am not sure if Kyle is ever going to learn, I understand he has so much invested in Pettis but dude is not ready yet……Richie James jr is ready……

This is same scenario with Mullens and CJB………its obvious RJJ is ready to play and Mullens is more familiar with him…..

I could count at least 3 plays now where the ball is being forced to an unaware Pettis.

Its ok…..we believe in Pettis…..but today throw the fckin ball to RJJ

    1. I’m not sure if they play the same role in this offense.
That said, I would like to see more of James.

  14. Nice bounce back by Mullins after the int
Defense is still horrible at rushing the passer.
Solid vs the run so far.
Receivers are getting no separation, and I’m thinking Goodwin might be to fast for Mullins arm. Good adjustment by using him with the chunk throws though.
Kittles and Breada are the work horses and only play makers tonight.
No major injuries so far. That’s a plus. Fingers crossed.

Second half adjustments will decide who wins this close game Grant probably Jinxed. ?

  15. A decent first half. I’m not exactly jumping for joy with some of Saleh’s play calling in that first half, but 10 points is acceptable considering the 49ers gifted NY a redzone possession with Mullens’ INT. I would have liked to have seen Saleh call up a few more blitz packages, because they just aren’t making things uncomfortable for ELI with their 4 man rush.

I’m also not jumping for joy with the field conditions tonight, although it seems like it’s been a bit of an advantage for the 49ers because Saquon is having a heck of a time with his footing. I’ve counted at least 4 times that Barkley has lost his footing preventing a few nice gains.

With the exception of Mullens first real mistake tonight, I think he’s played pretty well. One thing that jumps out to me is just how much more efficiently Mullens moves through his progressions than CJB. It’s night and day. It’s Mullens ability to move from one receiver to the next, in a quick and progressive fashion, without locking onto one receiver for any prolonged period of time, which is why we aren’t seeing balls being batted down at the line of scrimmage like we see time and time again with Beathard. It’s really striking!

    1. Not sure he knows the playbook very well.
It seems that Mullens has to correct his alignment a lot.

  16. What happened to those guys and girls that said this team would ha e been better off keeping Vance MacDonald instead of Kittle? Especially since it was after 1 game of v Mac actually producing.

  17. Jason Witten just said the 49ers have turned over 82% of their roster since taking over. Wow!

  18. This team is so close to being elite offensively.
With some healthy players and a playmaker on the ends. They will be.

Defensive thinking should be the M/O this offseason. Seriously sellout on all defense this offseason.

  19. There simply is no other team sport where one player at one position makes such a profound difference for an entire team.

A dominant starting pitcher would be right up there if it wasn’t for the fact that starting pitcher generally only plays one out of every 5 games.

    1. Of course, a QB can only do so much. Until the 49ers find a way to fix their lack of a pass rush, and upgrade parts of the backend of their defense, they aren’t going to make it to the postseason.

  20. Nice play call in the red zone. Terrific catch by Breida, even though the ball was thrown a bit high.

Breida is playing lights out. Averaging almost 7 yards per touch.

  21. Mullens very sharp in the middle of the field…but the passes to the sidelines are sloooow…….

    1. Why did he stop running?

He needs to locate the ball. Too many times he turns his back to the ball, brutal.

    2. Dunno. He let OBJ go by him like he was expecting safety help. After the play he seemed to be frustrated with the safety. On that throw that OBJ juggled in the endzone (and didn’t catch) he again held up and didn’t even try to tackle OBJ.

  22. Uh oh. Look who’s getting bullied again. Saleh you gotta know they’re going there again after a near miss.
Safety should have been over on that play. Smh
Whoever’s fault it is they should be on the sameness page by now.

    1. Only person to blame is Saleh. The defense should know how to align, and adjust. Just saying….

  23. Why didnt saleh just double beckham when in the endzone?

Why are we playing man in our 20…….against Eli….cmon….wtf

  24. The Witherspoon and penalty problem looks to be rearing it’s ugly head all of a sudden. Not good.
I can see NY pulling this one out. Like the Arizona game.

    1. Folks, we need a FS first if Bosa is gone, and grab our edge in round 2. Pretty obvious on that TD pass to OBJr.

    1. The big question for me is; do they really see Moore as a corner or do they see him as the future at FS?

  25. No run plays in that drive. This is where Shanahan needs to be more balanced. Some of Grant’s criticism is warranted. SMH.

  26. I’ll tell you what though, if there was ever a game that made sense to, shall we say …. intentionally, unintentionally, intentionally lose, it would be this one.

I’m not for rolling over and giving up on a season, but there is no question that losing to the NY Giants tonight, would do a hell of a lot of good, for this 49ers team in the long run.

And … even though it seems like this Levis Stadium turf is working in the 49ers advantage tonight,it’s really an embarrassment. Why can’t they get this grass fixed?

  27. The 49ers aren’t good enough to survive so many mistakes they need to maximize their effort and abilities.

  28. I don’t get why these DB’s are not playing Beckham tight ……..its the best way to get an int……..don’t they want picks?

      1. if it is a scheme you can coach it……..for example if the safety is going to cover the top the underneath DB should keep running with him……ELi is not going to scramble

        1. The problem is the number of miscommunications… especially when considering how simple this defense is.

  29. this is freaking insane…..dude just got hit hard….why would u rush him into the game …..when you have RJJ on the bench

  30. What a stop by the Defense! Credit to Saleh and the D there!

The 49ers will probably lose, but lots of things to like tonight.

  31. And people wonder y I say we need a ball hawk safety… An Ed Reed type would have picked that ball off. Heck, even Merton Hanks would have snatched that out the air..

  32. The offense has a long drive and gives the team the lead late. Grant says the D has to bail out the offense. SMH.

  33. Where are all those idiots that thought the niners dline was on the right track after beating the RAIDERS ?? LOL ….. can we fired Saleh? one blitz all night

  34. That was a let down in all three phases in particular after a bye week against an equally bad team..

  35. Mullens played well. We clearly don’t have the weapons on offense to strengthen the passing game for a young QB. Positive note is that Mullens did find Goodwin a few times and that will help, but even then we need a true #1 badly. Trent Taylor sighting will help as well.

  36. Its the way its going this year, saw some good and once again the obvious – no pass rush.

  37. This Niner team is horrible! No excuse! Need more talent at DB. I can’t believe the lack of pressure on a weak Giants offensive line.

  38. Saleh fired! That’s three games now where people at the end are running around not knowing who to cover.
Marsh and Smith both covering Barkley and he still gets the 1st down.

Then he puts DJ Reed in the slot to cover?

WTF is wrong with that guy! Fire his sorry a$$!

    1. “Then he puts DJ Reed in the slot to cover?”

That’s what happens when your starting nickel corner gets hurt

  39. The outcome sucked, but it was a good game. I thought Shanny called a great game. Some costly penalties and mistakes by both squads. Really missing Mostert on special teams. I think Mullens earned another look see….

      1. I think we need an elite FS and a couple edge players for the defense. On offense, we need to add an outside threat opposite Goodwin. I think Saleh is bad but I think they’ll give him those two things before they sack him. I could be wrong….

            1. Why another ILB? I could understand a WLB and perhaps a SLB, but not an ILB. CB will definitely need to be looked at. Witherspoon was left out to dry by the safeties tonight, but he failed to turn his head on most of the catches that he allowed.
The 49ers sould not fire Saleh until they have a difference making edge rusher and a capable FS and the results are the same. If anyone needs fired, it is Hafley. He has had three seasons to make a decent secondary, and it has yet to happen.

  40. Well at least one problem was solved……before Mullens the issues were bad inconsistent qb play and incompetent Saleh…

After Mullens the only issue we have to deal with is very clear….SALEH must go…

    1. So the pick from Mullens that gave NY the ball on the SF 12 didn’t happen?

That’s exactly the same type of thing that has bit this team all year.

            1. I meant bad luck has plagued this team all year. Both pics though were deflections that should never happen.
But it happens to this team for reasons I have no idea to as why.

              1. The first pick was a bad play. The second one was miscommunication between Goodwin and Mullens.

        1. Yeah he played alright. Looked like the backup. Big difference between the Giants and Raiders defenses.

          1. He led them on a 75 yard drive after that mistake, and I thought he showed enough to get another start.

      1. No, both of those INT’s happened Jack. That’s a fact. But both of those INT’s can simply be chalked up to inexperience. That’s also a fact. And yes, it’s really that simple.

Anyone remember what Jarred Goff looked like as a rookie? I mean, we’re 10 games into the season after tonight, and how many practice reps has Mullen taken with his starting OL and starting receivers?

That’s why Beathard is such a disappointment. Beathard isn’t disappointing because he’s made rookie mistakes. That’s expected Jack. CJB is disappointing because he continues to make those kinds of mistakes, and has shown very little improvement as a starter. And that’s a problem when he was never very good in the first place.

Mullens, at the very least, shows far more potential than Beathard, IMO. He may never be full time starter in this league (though he might), but at least Mullens looks like he can process the speed of the NFL, and deliver an accurate football. He’s a poised young man. Learning when it’s too late to throw an out route across the field, and learning when your receiver is going to sit down on a route, or keep on moving, well … those things come with experience, and chemistry built through practice repetition.

        And that’s a fact – Jack.

    2. Mullens got away with some bad and risky passes against the Raiders; he didn’t tonight. With that said, the second interception was not on him.

    3. +1 Oneniner,

but let’s wait until after the season the replace Saleh. His defensive play calling was horrendous tonight, particularly in the 4th QTR, as usual. But the bottom line is, if we’re playing the long game, the 49ers loss tonight has the potential to benefit this team in a BIG WAY moving forward. And replacing Saleh now, might be enough to secure another win between now and the end of the season.

      And I don’t want that!

This loss has actually done more to boost this team’s future playoff prospects, than any loss in recent memory, provided they end up with, their current draft position. The Raiders may very well be forced to draft a QB, giving the 49ers the pick of the litter inext April. And if the Raiders go defense, than any other QB needy team is likely to deal the 49ers a motherload worth of compensation in order to move into their spot.

The 49ers have done the NFL proud this year when it comes to entertainment on prime time. And believe it or not, that matters. A colleague of mine knows that NFL executives are impressed with the way ShanaLynch’s team never backs down to a fight, regardless of the circumstances. In the back of everyone’s head right now is … regardless of how much adversity Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers face, they will continue to fight like a champion, all the way to the end, regardless of the final score!

The 49ers may only have 2 wins, but they have proven to be the very best team in the league when it comes to losing elegantly! And that makes me proud to be a Forty Niners Faithful!

      1. Well said 49 but the defensive players might start to tune out Saleh if they feel he is not putting them in the right position to win.

Firing him now shows the players the organization is not gonna tolerate failure. Saleh has failed late in games. AZ, GB and now tonight.

  41. I guess everyone is gonna have there opinion..Zone this.should have done that..Cover 2..
    Here’s my opinion….
Giants are a bad team but look at their draft picks in the first round when they’ve had the chance to draft high

    Beckham
    Barkley

    They made the difference
When you draft Soloman Thomas #3 this is what you get..You have one playmaker on this team and that’s Kittle
I don’t know everything but me and thousands of other Niner fans and regular football fans knew s Thomas was a horrible pick before they took him
..He will haunt this franchise for years
if we never picked him would you have noticed tonight?I said it before the draft and today..Worthless player and wasted pick that will set this franchise back ,5 years..He is the defensive version of an an Jenkins just a horrible horrible pick…that the average Joe could see was not gonna work…would it have made a difference tonight?Might have if we had a list of players I’m to lazy to type picked way after him

  42. And I don’t mean to call out another poster but Jesus..I’ve been following this blog for a long time and can the Niners please..please stay away from anyone that razor eator says we should draft….Jesus dude you are batting 0 for 100

  43. I didn’t watch the game at all. What happened? did the 49ers LOSE again? Did Mullens give the game away? Did the Giants avenge themselves? What happened? I was busy watching Nash Bridges and Star Trek has a terrific episode, couldn’t turn away. SHould I watch the highlight on YouTube? Well, CJB will be starting the next game.

  44. George Kittle: “We had multiple opportunities to end it and didn’t. It’s something we need to figure out because it’s happened in multiple games this season.”

    Yep.

    1. We got ourselves a real leader on offense in Kittle. I like the way he handles his business.

      1. Agree . Razor … but ….

I put this one on the D …. what was it … one sack .. ? … yeah ..otherwise
the rugrat’s jersey remained ..clean … .. the whole game !

that shouldn’t have happened …. especially how many times I’ve read
how much the Giants O-line sucked ….

Now … the G-Men ….. sucks as much as … we do

        (who woulda thunk …right ?)

  45. Offense starts the 2nd half with an eleven play, 6:51 drive and scored a TD. The well rested D gives up a TD on the next drive.

The offense had an 11 play, 6:11 drive and got a go ahead FG. The well rested D gives up a game winning TD.

    1. Both teams benefitted from poor special teams play on their first drives of the 2nd half.

  46. Good loss. With all the “this team sucks thing” which this isn’t a great team, but has anyone stopped to realize that it was brought up on national TV that this team has 82 percent turnover since last year? This team is in complete. I know things are frustrating, but just my opinion, time will come where everyone will be healthy, and our cap room will be used sufficiently. Year 2 of a complete tear down. #whenwebuildittheywillcome

        1. I don’t think Saleh should get a pass for failing to close out 3 games this season. He’s fine the first 3 quarters but vanishes in the 4th.
He will quickly lose his players with that kind of coaching.

  47. I’m very happy. The 49ers lost and I never saw them on TV. I bet Mullens was awful. Well, better start CJB for the rest of the year and draft a real QB.

  48. Mullens was far from the reason this team lost..He is way better than Beathard..
No need to break down film

This is why the 49ers lost
    Armstead
    Ward
    Tartt
    Buckner
    Garnett
    S Thomas
    R Foster
All first round picks who like tonight have done nothing…
Main contributors tonight that kept us in the game
    Mullens ..udfa
    Breida..udfa
    Kittle..5th round pick

They can’t draft…period…..no matter what regime

that’s why I laugh at everyone rooting for a top pick…What makes you think that’s gonna help?Last time we drafted #3 we picked Soloman Thomas…He could have never suited up tonight and you would have never known the difference…#3 overall pick…
And mr magoo could have told you before we picked him that was gonna happen..I remember that draft at bebes sports bar in Livermore watching the draft…You should have heard the boos when they picked Thomas…these guys are pros but they out think themselves alot of the time

    1. So you think the 49ers should draft their pick in the first round. Well, who would take it?

  49. Darren …

When Grant realizes yer back … he’ll ban you again …

    Oh ..by the way …..

your mom wants her laptop back …

    1. What’s funny is how you guys all think anyone who dis agrees with you is one person…
Look up narcissist ..There’s alot of them in here..I’m not Darren or send or whoever..just sick of watching my favorite team no matter what gm draft bums over and over…Prove me wrong ..there’s not one 1st round pick on this team anyone who’s not a 49er fan have ever heard of….News flash that’s not good

      1. I know. Boy, security must be an issue with these 49ers fans. I’m just a person that used to root for the 49ers and I want the Yorks out of the league and investigated. I still hope the 49ers draft a QB because Jimmy G and Mullens are not the one. Look at the Browns, they might have the QB, so why can’t it be the 49ers? maybe a new HC would motivate the 49ers as once again, we’re 1 and 8, but really 0 and 9. Giving that contract to Jimmy G snakebit the 49ers. You don’t give a contract until that player performed and going 5 and 0 is NOT a performance. It’s the same thing you did when you had Colin Kaepernick.

        1. “…. Boy security .. ? … yeah ..yer right… boy security ..

and thats what Grant does .. when he wants to get rid of .. ( shall we say ..)
any… anal annoyances … to get rid of the little 12-yr old ..boys ..
the ones whose only goal in life is … to annoy people …

I’m sure even Seb could agree with that one ..

So what is it with you ….Darren …?
You’re either a 12 yr -old kid … pining for attention from ..someone
cuz yer Mom … beats you with a long wooden … soup spoon ?

          or ..
          A grown man .. devoid of any wisdom… or maturity ?? … cuz ..
there’s no grey area here.. ya kno

Do us all a favor … give Mommie back .. her laptop

          1. Who’s this Darren? I’m just reveling in your demise. Better get a real coach there, and stop acting like a 12-year old. You deserve to lose until you get a real owner. Tell York to sell the team.

            1. you didn’t answer the million $$ question … Darren …

no grey area ..remember ? so-o-o … which is it …?

              scared to answer ?

            2. What a loser. Loser posting under tons of different names. FO deplorable.

Grant, MAC address ban. Ask your webmaster.

    2. I’d give it back but your mom is busy using it recording me and her in your basement..She’s telling me what a disappointmebt you are and says the best part of you ended up a stain on the sheets..

  50. Mullens played well enough.

Penalties (10-97) and play-calling from Saleh and in some situations by Shanahan cost this game. Still a positive outcome considering overall draft status for next year.

I see us finishing 3-13 or 4-12 this year.

  51. Sigh, some day, they might actually consider time outs to be precious, and saved for legitimate challenges and the last 2 minutes of each half.
    .
It might be the difference between winning and losing.

    1. That 2nd timeout the Niners call in Giant’s last drive was driving me crazy the moment it happened.

    1. Witherspoon did need some help, but he also should have turned his head and tracked the ball. I could have sworn that Culliver was back on the team.

      1. Pisses me off that a 2nd year pro can’t turn and track the ball. That’s corner back 101!

      2. That’s the trail technique that Saleh stresses. But Spoon may have been fast enough and long enough to at least get a fingertip on the ball there. Spoon was a ballhawk in college, but Saleh is “coaching” that out of him. Saleh is holding back Spoon and the D in general.

  52. Good thing we draft players who never did anything in college..Like Thomas…Pettis……on and on….
Meanwhile proven guys like Kamara ,Lattimore Derwin James…naw ..we’re gonna draft Soloman Thomas…can’t understand why were losing

  53. Looking back on the game, it was interesting that they started Nzeocha. I thought Watson would have been a better choice.
    .
So, how many exotic blitzes did they do? Eli was untouched except once or twice.
    .
Witherspoon was a liability. He needs to and learn how to turn his head and track the ball.
    .
The clock management was bad, and they wasted time outs like a drunken sailor.
    .
I suppose one could say this is an elegant tank, but they need to win in order to build a winning culture.
    .
Once again, they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

  54. With all that being said there probably 7-3 to 6-4 at worst with JG and McKinnon playing.

    1. And with a DC who knows what he’s doing!

Being serious here. Bring in Ed Donatell. The Bears have to let him go.

      1. As soon as the Niners lost JG the season was over. The best thing for this team was to play tough and finish 3-13 or worse. To get a top 3 pick in a LOADED pass rushing draft with also an elite corner and safety to choose from. 1. Bosa 2. Greedy Williams 3. D Thompson in no particular order with #2, 3 are exactly what the doctor ordered. This is a tough season to swallow especially being a season ticket holder. But next year will taste so much better when our luck finally turns. Stay strong faithful. Our time is coming!

  55. Has any 49er player said ‘I want to get the F out of here?’ like the Raider players were doing?

  56. Still, discipline problems led to unforced errors.
    .
Mullens should not be blamed for passes that bounce off both of the receiver’s hands, but he will be.
    .
Looked like the team that wanted to win the most, did.

  57. Great story by Nick Waggoner on the Paradise Varsity High School team being invited to the game tonight it is on the ESPN site, tried to post it but crappy with electronics!

  58. Pass rush? did you say pass rush? what was that a pass rush? you call that a pass rush? Where in the heck is the pass rush? Ah maybe its called rush the passer……….whatever it is we don’t have one.
