Through the first three days of free agency the 49ers upgraded their starting defense and brought back critical pieces of their offense.
They have opened day four by adding depth along their defensive line and linebacker.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the 49ers have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with veteran defensive tackle T.Y. McGill.
Last season, the 49ers signed McGill to the practice squad on October 20. McGill was promoted to the active roster on November 26, making his 49ers debut in a 49ers road win over the Los Angeles Rams.
McGill appeared in nine regular season games and all three postseason contests. The veteran registered 10 tackles, including four for loss, and two quarterback hits.and one forced fumble.
McGill originally entered the NFL after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks on May 15, 2015. Throughout his seven-year NFL career McGill has played with the Indianapolis Colts (2015-2016), Cleveland Browns (2017), Philadelphia Eagles (2018, 2020), Los Angeles Chargers (2018-19) and Minnesota Vikings (2021).
The team also announced it had re-signed linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles to a one-year deal.
Flannigan-Fowles originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2019. The former Arizona Wildcat spent 2019 on the team’s practice squad.
Following a strong training camp in 2020, Flannigan-Fowles made the opening day roster. He has since appeared in 45 regular season games registering 31 tackles and one sack. Flannigan-Fowles has also appeared in six postseason games for San Francisco where he added one tackle and two tackles on special teams.
A special teams standout, Flannigan-Fowles has recorded 29 tackles on the 49ers coverage units. His 15 tackles on special teams in 2022 were the fifth-most in the NFL.

We used 4 QBs, that’s no accident.
These are the kind of solid signings I expect thru the remainder of free agency. I think the 9ers will address OT with one of their 3rd round picks. I hope Banks, Brendel and Burfort show solid improvement this season and competition between McKivitz and a draft pick at RT will provide a solid RT.

At this point it might be best for the 49ers to keep their 3rd rd picks.
The 49ers have always done well with their late rd draft picks, and I’m sure that they have already targeted their guys.
They could go, OL,TE, FB, DT, EDGE, LB, DB, CENTER, QB and KICKER (not necessarily in this order) on day three of the draft.
Kickers could be available in UDFA as well. If the 49ers aren’t completely sold on Danny Gray they may go for WR on day 3.

TE: IMO, no TE is worth drafting in the 3rd Rd. I have seen TE Sam LaPorta, Iowa, listed as late as the 3Rd
Rd., but most list him early 2nd Rd. If he’s still available at draft pick #101, I would draft him.
S: Ronnie Hickman, Ohio St. 6′ 0″ X 203, is who I would draft in the 3Rd round (#102), as competition
when Tashaun Gipson retires.

* Draft pick #99 = 104 points, plus #164 = 26.4 points, for a total = 130.4 points.
* IMO, If nothing changes after pro day, or before the draft, It should allow the 9ers to draft Vorhees

Not yet, right now I’m looking at positional needs more than players. I will start looking at players soon. Actually after looking at the current roster I think they should draft a S as opposed to a TE in the 3rd round along with an OT and DE.

I agree with you on a S in the 3Rd. I have S Ronnie Hickman, Ohio St. with draft pick #102. He is
6′ 0″ X 203, and his 40 = 4.45s. He has the speed to cover tight ends and the ball skills to create turnovers. He also has value as a blitzer. I see him competing to replace S Tashaun Gibson, when he retires.
Hopefully, the 49ers find a RB gem in UDFA like they did with Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert and Jordan Mason.
I’m getting a little concerned with Elijah Mitchell’s injuries. I love his running style and effort, but that doggone injury bug keeps biting him. I want to see this guy get whole.

I doubt the 9ers will draft a RB, but if they do…Check out RB Evan Hull, Northwestern: 5′ 10″ X 210: Impressed at Senior Bowl.
Combine 40 = 4.47s Fits 9ers inside zone scheme, runs good routes and adds value as a receiver. S/B available in 6th Rd # 216 draft pick.
COLLEGE STATS:
In 2022, Hull carried the ball 221 times for 913 yards and 5 TDs. He add on 54 receptions for 546 yards in the air with 2 more touchdowns.
NOTE: He was an honor student so he should pick up KS complex playbook ok
Hull sounds like a potential nice pick. RB might be at the bottom of the priority list because aside from the official RBs currently on the roster we also need to add Deebo as a hybrid RB.
I would like to see the team find a FB in April that could backup and eventually replace Juszczek.
Luepke out of NDSU would be a nice future replace, imho.

Every time I think I understand the rules for comp picks, I find I don’t….
Any rumors about Gould? I would have thought he would have received some action by now.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe he is not getting the offers he thought he would. I would love to see the 9ers sign him to a one year contract but they can’t let him kick off. By the last third of the season and the playoffs his leg was really tired, teams were starting drives after KOs near the 35 yard line or worse.
It does appear Goulds 2022 Salary ($4Mil base + 1.5Mil signing bonus) is more than other NFL teams want to pay for a 40 Y/O kicker. As OC says, he gives the opposing team good field position since he can’t kick the ball into the end zone.
With several top kickers in the draft this year, Lynch is waiting to see if anyone makes him an offer. If not, he may offer him a little over the NFL minimum salary ($1.075 Mil) for a vet with 7 or more years seniority?

I’m not sure they can get him that cheap but if they can I think they could also sign a KO specialist with a huge leg who may not be very accurate. They could also use a K like that at the end of the half and games for 58 yard FGs and longer. I think this pause in signings my be a sign that they are done shopping. I think Willis and Hyder are still unsigned, I could see them signing one of them if they can get them for the vet minimum.

Gould said he will “be kicking elsewhere in 2023,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported Saturday. Gould confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area he plan to not re-sign with the 49ers for another season.
That may mean he and Lynch have agreed to part ways? It’s also possible Lynch has told him he’s not willing to meet his salary demands? It appears he’s gone, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see?
