SANTA CLARA — He did and he didn’t want to talk about it.

Reuben Foster hadn’t talked publicly about it all year. Saturday after training camp, he walked into the 49ers press room, smiled at reporters and finally answered questions.

“Oh yeah, it was a big learning experience,” Foster said, talking around the issue.

“It” was his offseason, which included two arrests, three felony charges, one girlfriend accusing him of hitting her eight to 10 times in the head, the same girlfriend claiming she made the whole story up, one judge dismissing all three felony charges and the NFL deciding to suspend Foster two games anyway. Not your typical offseason.

“I learn from every mistake, everything that’s said, all my flaws, and just grew from it,” Foster said.

It was unclear which mistake Foster was referring to.

  1. Glad Foster has owned up to his mistakes.
    .
However, instead of getting defensive and refusing to answer questions, he should be more diplomatic. He should say- ‘I acknowledge your interest in the subject, but I wish to move forward, and want to answer questions pertaining to my play on the field, not off the field. It really does no good to relive the past. I want to concentrate on the future. if you have a football question, I would be happy to answer that.’
    .
He needs to be able to deflect and redirect questions, so it sounds like he is being responsive, but in control.

  2. Surprised you’re still covering this story, almost as surprising that you are still covering the red and gold…..
The main thing ill remember from that matter is how some suddenly forgot this lil thing we call due process.
Warner seems to be a perfect compliment to Foster, we have our Bowman and Willis again.
