49ers v. Rams live blog: Second quarter

SAN FRANCISCO — This is the live blog for the second quarter of the 49ers’ Week 13 game against the Rams. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

1:45 Vance McDonald is on the sideline trying to walk off what appears to be a right ankle injury.

1:47 Phil Dawson makes a 43-yard field goal and the score is 6-0 Niners.

1:51 Eric Reid takes a knee to the right side of his head and walks off the field on first down.

1:55 Givens drops a low first-down pass on third-and-17. After the punt, it’s 49ers ball at their 28.

2:07 Gore punches it in from 3 yards out. 13-0 Niners with 6:15 left in the first half. Kaepernick completed 5 passes to Boldin on that drive. The Rams adopted the Packers’ Week 1 strategy of not covering Boldin, a curious move.

2:10 Adam Snyder was flagged 15 yards after the touchdown, so the 49ers kickoff from their 20. Austin returns the kick to the Rams’ 31.

2:16 It’s the 2-minute warning and the Rams face second-and-6 at the 49ers’ 30. The Rams have rushed 5 times for 35 yards on this drive.

2:22 The Rams use their first timeout with 1:10 left facing third-and-6 from the 49ers’ 21. Three plays prior, the Rams had third-and-6 from the 49ers’ 30 and Carlos Rogers was flagged for holding Austin Pettis.

2:24 Bowman blitzes and sacks Clemens for a 4-yard loss. The 49ers use their second timeout. Hekker will attempt a 43-yard field goal.
