5 matchups to watch: 5. Carlos Rogers vs. Miles Austin

Carlos Rogers: 6’0”, 192 lbs., 30 years old.
Miles Austin: 6’2”, 215 lbs., 27 years old.

If Dez Bryant doesn’t play on Sunday, and it doesn’t look like he will, expect Carlos Rogers to cover Miles Austin for the majority of the game. Whether the Cowboys line up Austin out to the left or the right or in the slot, Rogers should follow him.

Kevin Ogletree, who’s never started a game in the NFL, will start in place of Bryant if Bryant can’t go. Tarell Brown should be able to hang with the 6’1” Ogletree just fine, leaving Rogers to handle Austin.

Austin has been a Pro Bowler the last two seasons. Rogers has never been a Pro Bowler. But Rogers thinks Romo has a lot to do with Austin’s high standing in the NFL. “You didn’t hear about (Austin) his first two years,” Rogers explained this past Wednesday. “Romo started getting hot, and boom. He just expanded and blew up.”

If Rogers can hold Austin in check this Sunday, his name will blow up around the league as well.
