5 things to know about the 49ers’ trade for Emmanuel Sanders

The San Francisco 49ers have raced out to six straight wins to open the season despite lacking a dynamic receiver who could change a game in a single play. So when the opportunity to acquire a player like Sanders presented itself, the Niners didn’t hesitate to make a move, giving up a pair of draft picks for a 32-year-old receiver in the final year of his contract. SANTA CLARA — After six games and six wins, the 49ers hardly have any weaknesses.

The main weakness seems to be the passing game, which ranks just 25th out of 32 teams in passing yards. To address this issue, the 49ers on Tuesday traded their third-round pick and fourth-round pick in 2020 to the Broncos for former Pro Bowl wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and Denver’s fifth-round pick in 2020.

The 49ers already traded their second-round pick in 2020 during the offseason for defensive end Dee Ford. Meaning they currently have no picks between rounds 1 and 5 of next year’s draft.

They’ve sent a clear message to their players: Forget the future. Win the Super Bowl this season.

“They have full confidence we’re ready to win now,” fullback Kyle Juszczyk said Wednesday. “It’s reassuring and it energizes everybody, not that we really needed to be energized — everybody is feeling pretty good right now.”

Here are five things to know about the trade.

  1. Sanders will have benefited from the joint practices the Broncos and Niners held during the preseason. KS watched Sanders in those joint practices, so it is no wonder that KS covets him.
    .
I hope they get him involved in the offense by letting him run a jet sweep. A bubble screen may get the ball in his hands on the edge. Those plays do not entail running precise routes, so they should be easier to execute.
    .
The Niners may have spent 8 picks, but the WR corps needed rebuilding. If Sanders helps them advance in the playoffs, it will be considered a good trade.
    .
Sounds like Sanders was not too happy, and Flacco being the QB may have been a factor. Hope JG and Sanders build chemistry quickly. In fact, I hope they sync up and have such good production, Sanders elects to stay with the Niners, at a discount.

    1. Also should San Francisco and Denver meet in the Super Bowl then we will have ample intel on the Broncos.
      .
This is a win-win and no brainer for Shanahan.

      1. “Come on at a footpace! d’ye mind me? And if you’ve got holsters to that saddle o’ yourn, don’t let me see your hand go nigh ’em. For I’m a devil at a quick mistake, and when I make one it takes the form of Lead. So now let’s look at you.”
The figures of a horse and rider came slowly through the eddying mist, and came to the side of the mail, where the passenger stood. The rider stooped, and, casting up his eyes at the guard, handed the passenger a small folded paper. The rider’s horse was blown, and both horse and rider were covered with mud, from the hoofs of the horse to the hat of the man.
“Guard!” said the passenger, in a tone of quiet business confidence.
The watchful guard, with his right hand at the stock of his raised blunderbuss, his left at the barrel, and his eye on the horseman, answered curtly, “Sir.”
“There is nothing to apprehend. I belong to Tellson’s Bank. You must know Tellson’s Bank in London. I am going to Paris on business. A crown to drink. I may read this?”
“If so be as you’re quick, sir.”
He opened it in the light of the coach-lamp on that side, and read—first to himself and then aloud: “’Wait at Dover for Mam’selle.’ It’s not long, you see, guard. Jerry, say that my answer was, Recalled to life.”
Jerry started in his saddle. “That’s a Blazing strange answer, too,” said he, at his hoarsest.
“Take that message back, and they will know that I received this, as well as if I wrote. Make the best of your way. Good night.”
With those words the passenger opened the coach-door and got in; not at all assisted by his fellow-passengers, who had expeditiously secreted their watches and purses in their boots, and were now making a general pretence of being asleep. With no more definite purpose than to escape the hazard of originating any other kind of action.
The coach lumbered on again, with heavier wreaths of mist closing round it as it began the descent. The guard soon replaced his blunderbuss in his arm-chest, and, having looked to the rest of its contents, and having looked to the supplementary pistols that he wore in his belt, looked to a smaller chest beneath his seat, in which there were a few smith’s tools, a couple of torches, and a tinder-box. For he was furnished with that completeness that if the coach-lamps had been blown and stormed out, which did occasionally happen, he had only to shut himself up inside, keep the flint and steel sparks well off the straw, and get a light with tolerable safety and ease (if he were lucky) in five minutes.
“Tom!” softly over the coach roof.
        “Hallo, Joe.”
        “Did you hear the message?”
        “I did, Joe.”
“What did you make of it, Tom?”
        “Nothing at all, Joe.”
“That’s a coincidence, too,” the guard mused, “for I made the same of it myself.”
Jerry, left alone in the mist and darkness, dismounted meanwhile, not only to ease his spent horse, but to wipe the mud from his face, and shake the wet out of his hat-brim, which might be capable of holding about half a gallon. After standing with the bridle over his heavily-splashed arm, until the wheels of the mail were no longer within hearing and the night was quite still again, he turned to walk down the hill.
“After that there gallop from Temple Bar, old lady, I won’t trust your fore-legs till I get you on the level,” said this hoarse messenger, glancing at his mare. “’Recalled to life.’ That’s a Blazing strange message. Much of that wouldn’t do for you, Jerry! I say, Jerry! You’d be in a Blazing bad way, if recalling to life was to come into fashion, Jerry!”

            1. Catfish, you should not pull a Cassie, and talk about random things.
              .
              It is a dead giveaway.

              1. Why is this clown taking up so much space writing about himself?
Why does Grant tolerate this kid?

              2. It is just a catfish troll, stealing my avatar, and trolling away.
                .
BTW, I am 65 years old. Maybe you are thinking of the Frisco Kid.

              3. You might be 65yrs old but you’re acting like a 13yr old with your ad hominem attacks.
                GROW UP MAN!

              4. You must be talking to the catfish troll.
                .
Hopefully my tech support is coming home from his Hawaiian vacation, and will eliminate my problems.

              5. Or maybe my tech support is my catfish.
                .
Either way clearly it’s had an impressionable impact on your ability to see and understand my posts.
                .
                Shame..

              6. This is confusing…….Now both Seb’s are writing with dots between sentences.

Like they are talking to themselves. Will the real catfish please stand up!!

              7. Posters who know me will know who the catfish is, usually. However, just assume anything could be from either of us, until I get my tech support.

              8. You can add another dot between your sentences since you like to write that way. Maybe the fish won’t notice or won’t bother to copy you, then we’ll know it’s you ;-)

      1. If JG plays like he has been lately and doesn’t improve or gets a little worse with the next 10 games being better teams, there’s a chance, maybe slight that Mullens come in. JG needs to work on his foot mechanics for sure. Maybe being pulled will wake him up. Or is he just 80% healed from injury or hasn’t played enough in this system going on 3 years??

        1. Sumo-Justin—-

Both his starting tackles are out.
His fullback, who is unique, is out.
His most effective receiver at this time, is out.
Other than Kittle, his other receivers are largely ineffective-one’s a rookie, the other is going thru a sophomore slump. Goodwin isn’t quite what he was-because of Shanny’s play-calling i.e. his best blockers are out.
Because of the above, KS has pulled his horns in.

Grapps is largely working within the game-plan he’s given and practiced all week. He doesn’t call the plays.
He just now has 16 games under his belt, and they aren’t consecutive. All he does is win.
Give a man a break, will ya?

Note: Grapps always start slow and finishes strong.

          1. He wins…or does the great D/run game win and carry this team?…great D and run game;-)

Don’t kid yourself…he’s in it now 3 years, 2 full offseasons, he knows the system and had played almost a years worth now going on 3 years and 3yrs studying behind Brady. He’s no newbee, far from it. The OL and WR’s are not all at fault here, juice included. Hopefully he gets with it, we all do and are giving him a break for now . The management will probably restructure his $137M contract if he doesn’t get better, doesn’t play well or if he gets worse over the harder 10 games.

    2. I agree with a lot of this article, with one major exception. I completely disagree with the notion that the Sanders trade sends the “Forget the future. Win the Super Bowl this season” message. Yes, they are clearly sending the message that they are going to try to make a run at a Super Bowl right now, but with a young, ascending roster and a fantastic group of coaches, it’s hard to buy into a Super Bowl or bust mentality. I think the 49ers Super Bowl window is only just now opening up, and it should remain open for the foreseeable future, despite the draft capital they gave up in order to land Emmanuel Sanders. The 49ers are still scheduled to have 6 picks in the upcoming draft, and even if most of them are in the later rounds, Lynch & Co have already proven they have the ability to identify high level talent in the latter rounds of a draft.

And equally as important for sustained success are the following factors:

      * The Niners have their franchise QB under contract for the next several years
      * They have a game-changing rookie DE who is absolutely setting the league on fire
      * They have quality depth up and down their roster
      * Even at arguably their weakest position group, the WR’s, they have a number of young players with high levels of potential
      * Their HC is considered one of the brightest offensive minds in an offensive driven league, and seems to be in in lock step with the GM, both of whom are locked up through 2022
      * The owner appears to have finally found his lane – a hands off approach – allowing football men who understand the sport to actually make the football decisions

Everything it takes to go on a prolonged run at multiple Lombardi Trophies, seems to be lining up once again for the 49ers, and it’s a beautiful thing to watch!

  2. I’m still worried about the ability of the OTs to hold up against the pass rush which could limit the effectiveness of the passing game until Staley and McGlinchey come back. But sounds like Staley isn’t far away. Once they are back (and Juice) this offense should be good.

    1. Brunskill had a bad game in DC — he’s not a mudder. I’m hoping he can do better this Sunday and hold up the right side of the line for one more week. Skule will probably take his place when Staley returns.

Sunday is going to be a struggle on offense unless Sanders makes an unexpectedly good debut.

  3. Dude gets wide open all the time, sneaky deep threat, great run blocker….oh and he can line up anywhere. What’s not to like. That’s a rhetorical question, sebs. Btw, claiming you were the only kaep supporter in here is a farce, it literally was my icon thing for years.

    1. Avatar is the word I was looking for.
Anyhoo, defs will think twice now about stackn the box…..should open some lanes bk up.

      1. I consider you a infrequent contributor. I see you way more on NN.
        .
I sure have felt like a lone voice in the wilderness, on this site, when it comes to Kaep. I do not see you defending Kaep against all the screeds.

  4. « The main weakness seems to be the passing game, which ranks just 25th out of 32 teams in passing yards. »

The fact that they attempt the second fewest passes per game has a lot to do with this. They have the 7th highest average 7.7 yards per pass attempt, tied with GB.

  5. What does the Sanders trade mean to me? It means that they were not satisfied, and knew the injured WRs were not going to recover in time.
    .
The existing WRs did not produce much. Through 6 games, Pettis has gained 83 yards. Goodwin has caught for 181 yards. Deebo has 168 yards. Little used Richie James has 108 yards.
    .
Sanders by himself, has 367 yards.
    .
Yes, the running game is dominating, but the Niners would be more effective, if they could become more balanced, so the defense does not know whether to defend against the run or pass.
    .
This next game, the Panthers will stack the box and dare JG to beat them with his arm. JG should oblige them, and take what they give him. They will rely on the 4 up front to push back the green tackles, and Ron Rivera will send some exotic blitzes like Eric Reid off the edge.
    .
The Panthers have won 4 straight, so they will be confident. This will be a hard fought contest.

  6. The Niner running game has dominated. It has reduced the amount of passing, and shortened the games.
    .
Since the Niners are lacking both tackles and Juice, the running game has suffered, along with the pass protection.
    .
I think the Niners should put their best TE at FB. That would be Kittle. He is the best blocker, and can catch the ball as a FB, too. It will be harder to jam him at the line of scrimmage, and it will be harder to double team him from the FB position. It will help to have Sanders commanding the double team, but he has not memorized the playbook yet.
    .
At times, Dwelley should line up at FB, but he is not as good a blocker as Kittle is. Toilolo should be used to help out either of the tackles.
    .
In order to counter the stacked box, the Niners should spread them out wide, and attack the edges. They should do play action passes deep to the posts. I hope KS uses their defensive speed against themselves by doing counters, misdirections and reverses. Try to confuse their defense as much as possible. KS will need to be on top of his game for play calling.
    .
Even with the stacked box, the Niners need to be able to run, since the Panther run defense is 23rd, while the passing defense is ranked 7th.

        1. Sure do. It’s awful. Hell on Earth. You and yours should definitely stay where you are.

  7. Sebbie, Packers are ranked 26th in defensive efficiency. I told you that defence was not for real. I guarantee by the end of the season they will be the reason the Packers come up short. I expect a concession on your part if I’m right.

    1. Renas, their defense has helped them to a 6-1 record, so their defense is much improved over last season.
      .
I never said they were elite, but they may be good enough to win their division.
      .
I never said they would win the SB, so you and I agree.
      .
Right now, their defense certainly does not suck, like the last couple of years, due to all the injuries.

  8. Sanders looks like a clone to 3 or 4 current WRs on the 49er roster. Obviously, he is a proven player whereas they are not so it is an upgrade. But I’m going to reserve judgment for a few weeks to see how I feel about that trade.

Carolina’s defense is good, not great. Brian Burns has been huge for them. They do get to the QB so you must have a solid game plan to slow down their rush. They are pretty good against the pass but average to below average against the run. That bodes well for Breida and Coleman in my opinion. Panthers know that about themselves so I expect them to load up against the run since the 49ers passing game hasn’t been too good. That should open up the play action pass. As long as Shanahan isn’t too stubborn and expect Skule & Brunskill to protect on a bunch of 7 step drops then the 49ers should win this game. Think I’m going with a 17-13 score in the 49ers favor.

  9. Jimmy G is still the weak link on offense. When he gets all the parts back, we’ll have a better idea as to how he will perform and look.

Shanahan has his work cut out for him.

Carolina is the toughest team they’ve faced thus far.

  10. Grant must be ghost writing articles over on NinersWire:

“Jimmy Garoppolo keeping 49ers from climbing in power rankings”

    1. Rib,
The folks at Niners Wire should remember that having the highest power ranking doesn’t guarantee a Superbowl win. Just ask the 2007 Patriots 16-0 team.

  11. Little to show at WR? Plenty of potential at the position, and that’s all you can ask for out of young draft picks at the position. Future is bright as long as they continue to develop and build chemistry with Jimmy.

I think the Panthers are susceptible on the edges in the run game. I’m looking for a rested Breida to have a big game….

  12. Should we wave Johnson or Matthews, and pick up Josh Gordon if the Cardinals pass on him? At the very least, he could provide valuable intel on our Super Bowl opponents, the Patriots….?

    1. Should I stick a three inch nail in my eye and then take a hammer to it?
That is what I think of adding Gordon.

  13. JG is not the weak link on offense. Right now, it is the O line, due to both starting tackles going down due to injury, Their loss has taken something that was considered a strength, and made it a weakness.
    .
The Niners certainly do not consider JG the weak link, and their acquisition of Sanders is proof of that. They saw him struggling, because the WRs did not get open. Improving the WR corps should help JG, and help make the offense more balanced. Kittle may benefit the most, because now, once Sanders is familiarized with the playbook, will start commanding double teams.
    .
JG may not have stellar passing stats, but with all the running, that is fine. I certainly am not worried about it, because he does throw the ball, and consistently converts third downs. Sanders has given him another weapon, and the fact that he has taken number 17, just shows that Hurd may be too injured to play this season. Personally, I think Hurd was injured when he caught his first TD. That safety bludgeoned him on the 3(?) yard line.
    .
JG may have the Niners passing game ranked 25th, but when they run the ball 40 times, that is to be expected. The more important stat is- JG has helped the Niners win their first 6 games.
    .
Some one once said, -‘Winning is not the most important thing, it is the only thing.’ JG has taken that to heart.
    .
I am glad people are dissing JG. He is too smart to let that affect him, and he will secretly use it as motivation. Grant called out JG, and he responded by completing his last 9 passes, to win the game.

  14. Seb,

Your catfish admires you so much that he copies your posting style.

Do us all a favor. You’ve stated many times over the years that you’re unhappy with Shanahan, having posted, and I quote: “I will call Shanahan less than astute if he does not resign Kaep.”

Clearly you are unhappy with the front office moves also, stating about the Wishnowski draft pick: “We drafted a punter too high.”

Then your coup de gras—your latest protest of unhappiness with the 49ers:

    sebnynah says:
    October 21, 2019 at 7:56 pm
Grant and Ryan have been dissing Kaep, so I wish to counter their chatter.

REOLY: Seb, do you even listen to your cries for help? For 3 loooong yeeeears you have been clammoring for Colin Kaepernick’s return; calling him better than Alex Smith; better than Joe Montana and Steve Young; Calling Shanahan “less than astute.”

What more evidence do you need to present this blog of your unhappiness with the 49ers and love for the Raiders.

Please get help, move to Las Vegas with your Raiders, SebRaider, and let us rave over the 49er Front office’s latest acquisition–Emmanuel Sanders and root on their rebuild effort….Don’t thank me now, thank me after your psychiatric intake in Vegas.

    1. I have some mental hurdles I am trying to overcome. Mainly that giant thing resting atop on my neck. Apologies..

    2. TrollD, they were talking about Kaep, repeating the old screeds against him. I feel perfectly fine responding, but would not have brought up Kaep if they had not brought him up first.
      .
KS was less than astute to rely on Hoyer, rather than Kaep. Both JL and KS decided to go in a different direction from Kaep, and I can only respect their decisions. Fortunately, it looks like they were very fortunate, to have JG fall into their laps. If Kaep had been on the team, BB probably would not have traded JG to the Niners.
      .
No, I am not calling for Kaep to return to the Niners. Since JG has been the franchise QB, there is no need for Kaep to come here. I will wish Kaep well wherever he goes, if the blackballing is lifted.
      .
Stop lying about me. I have never, ever said that Kaep was better than Joe. Only a Raider troll like you would say that. Only a closet Raider fan like you would troll a die hard faithful Niner fan like me.
      .
Talking about a psychiatric intake, have you been taking your meds, so you have stopped raving about breaking into gun safes, and creating nightmares?

        1. I certainly have devoted a lot of ‘space’ discussing the Niners and their unbeaten streak, but when trolls assail you, it is better to fight back, than encourage them. I have tried to ignore them, but they only get worse.
          .
By now, most have just resigned themselves to scroll past. That is something I invite you to do, too.
          .
Maybe you should also direct your ire at TrollD. He is the one continuing these screeds.

          1. By now, most have just resigned themselves to scroll past

Why don’t YOU take your own advice and stop calling people names like a 13yr old.
There is no one on this site named TrollD or are you referring to your self?
            GROW UP MAN!

            1. You obviously have not followed this blog site for long. TrollD and I go way back.
              .
TrollD seems to delight in calling me a Raider fan, and continuously trolls me. Look at who first posted. TomD=TrollD.
              .
I have been called everything under the sun. Name calling upsets you so much? Maybe you should direct your Ire at my detractors.
              .
A grown up will be mature enough to differentiate who is the bully, and who is the victim. Grow up yourself.

              1. A grown up will be mature enough to differentiate who is the bully, and who is the victim.

You definitely are no victim and since you admitted that you continually call someone TrollD, you are the bully!
You definitely are 13 yrs old, mentally.

              2. He is trolling me. If the shoe fits……..
                .
                Guess you like defending trolls.
                .
I have studiously ignored TrollD, when he does not address or attack me. But like a moth to a flame, he just cannot help himself.
                .
Maybe you need to grow up, and stop defending the trolls.

    1. Baker Mayfield is in the backfield thrice every four downs.
      .
      That’s a more credible comparison.

      1. Razor, please ignore this catfish, he is incoherent.
        .
Bosa is well on his way to getting 12 sacks this season. I think he should have gotten credit for another sack in the Browns game. Bosa sacked Baker, but he threw the ball away and received an intentional grounding flag, which negated that sack. However, I think he made the sack before the flag, so that sack should still have counted.

  15. 3 more trades 49ers can pursue after landing Emmanuel Sanders:

1 No. 3: Offensive Lineman Wes Schweitzer from the Falcons
    2. No. 2: Defensive Lineman Solomon Thomas to the Bengals—Thomas would regain that 3rd rd pick traded to Denver

    https://ninernoise.com/2019/10/23/49ers-3-trades-pursue-emmanuel-sanders/2/

    3. No. 1: QB Nick Mullens to the Denver Broncos.
Multiple teams have inquired about Nick Mullens, per source. No idea if the 49ers are considering it, but there’s interest.

    1. TrollD continues to show how sparse the concentration of brain cells are occupying his noggin’.
      .
There is simply no way any of these trades actually go through. But when they do not I’m sure you will be back to give credit to me when due, correct?
      .
I wish Grant would take the initiative to rid the blog of these clueless trolls.

      1. I wish Grant would take the initiative to rid the blog of these clueless trolls.

Grant please get rid of these HS kids that are continually attacking posters with their ad hominem attacks.
This is supposed to be about football not about assaulting other posters.
It’s clear how this one person seems to delight in putting others down for no reason.

        1. I have been under attack for a while now. These catfish trolls seem pretty persistent.
          .
‘Putting others down for no reason’? Have you seen what they are trying to do?
          .
I have been calmly writing about a team I love, and rejoicing in their unbeaten streak.
          .
‘This one person’ ? You must mean the catfish troll.

          1. Seb, a novel idea for your Sunday’s.

Why don’t you go catfishing, and leave the game day posting to us.

            Thank you!

              1. sebnynah says

Scroll past, it is not hard to do.

It’s not hard to do for 65 yr old but VERY HARD to control for a 13yr old.

              2. Scrolling past just encourages the catfish trolls. Just look at their efforts.
                .
Many have known who I am, and know I am not lying about my age, or my gender.

Direct your anger at the catfish trolls. They are the ones that deserve censure.

              3. See, this makes me think you are a teenager, caus you think and act like a teenager.

Scrolling past just encourages the catfish trolls. Just look at their efforts.

No, your continued baiting and lashing out at people encourages people to respond to you.
Your insistence that you’re a victim and more clever than others is what prompting the responses. But I’m afraid this simple logic goes over your head like it would for most teenagers…

              4. No, many times, they increase their harassment, even when ignoring them.
                .
This is not my first rodeo.
                .
Fighting fire with fire seems to be the most effective remedy, and I guess Grant likes the clicks.
                .
Believe me, I would much rather be talking about this undefeated season. Also, how the Niners can defeat the Panthers.
                .
You, on the other hand, seem fixated on posting about growing up. Maybe you should follow your own advice, and stick to football. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Why do you think that by attacking me, you are contributing to the civility and decorum of this site?
                .
How would you counter McCaffrey? Or is name calling all you got? By calling me a 13 year old, you are name calling, yourself. Grow up, indeed.
                .
What is your assessment of Kyle Allen, and how would be the best way to pass rush him. Would you want Saleh to dial up some exotic blitzes? I do. Do you think rushing 4 is the best strategy? Who will Sanders replace? Who should the Niners use as the FB? Dwelley?
                .
Those are the football answers I want, not hissy fits whining about name calling and ad hominem attacks. I want the Niners to put a spy on McCaffrey, but who would be best?
                .
Are the Niners done with trading? I would trade Tevin Coleman for Frank Gore. Maybe bundle Coleman with Dontae Johnson, because the Bills have had DB injuries.

              5. sebnynah, you just don’t get it. I said you BEHAVED like a 13yr old and your post shows that you continue to do so.
A grown man would walk away from all the unnecessary vitriol, but for some reason you think you are in a rodeo and that you are a victim. Fighting fire with fire has gotten you in the place you are now in and you seem to think that that makes you look smart.
I hope you have some support caus you need a lot of help.
                Serious help.
And yes I’m sure Grant likes click….

              6. Yup, you think that trolls should be lauded, and we all have to just endure them.
                .
They are the ones who are behaving in such a juvenile manner, but you attack me, instead of them. Why don’t you tell them to behave?
                .
I am not going to suffer fools gladly, even your screeds.
                .
This site is known for its trolls, but it has gotten out of hand lately. What is frustrating, is that the Niners have a 6 game win streak, but you name call (Clown), then attack me for name calling.
                .
I could say the same thing to you. You think you are so smart, that you get to judge others, but what you present, is your own weaknesses. Defending trolls and boorish behavior does not cover yourself in glory. It defines you as some one who likes to pile on, which makes me want to pity you. You still have not talked a word about football, so you bring nothing to this site.

          2. ‘This one person’ THAT IS YOU!
If there really someone impersonating you BUT NOT ANYBODY ELSE, there must be a good reason for that. How many catfish trolls are you seeing??? How delusional are you? Do you think this blog is about you? You probably created this so called ‘catfish’ yourself to get more attention.
            GROW UP MAN!

            1. No, I guess you have not been assailed by burner accounts before.
              .
Their purpose is to create confusion and dissension, which seems to have worked with you.
              .
I am the victim. You are targeting the wrong person. The catfish trolls are the ones that need to grow up.
              .
If you think I want to get more attention, you are not paying attention.I need these catfish trolls like I need a hole in my head.

              1. The only ONE who is confused is you. YOU are attacking people and then are telling them to ignore you. Why don’t you take your own advice???
I seriously doubt your 65 and beginning to doubt that you are a man too….
Own your BS and GROW UP!

              2. Why do you have to respond? Be the adult in the room, if you can, and ignore the posts. Post your screeds and your Kaep is being blackballed rants and nothing else. Try it, you may like it.

You can start by not replying to my post.

              3. You really need to differentiate between me, and this catfish troll. He is the one who creating this mess.
                .
When provoked I will respond, but normally, I am civil and respectful. I do try hard to keep what I write, to focus on football, and the Niners. These catfish trolls try to stir up trouble, and want to pee on the Niner bandwagon.
                .
Thankfully, the Niners are unbeaten, and we all should be concentrating on this upcoming contest with the Panthers. I do not know why Grant keeps bringing up Kaep, especially while watching Darnold throw 4 picks, and seeing ghosts. He should have been talking about Christian McCaffrey, and the need for the Niners to assign a spy on him.

        2. The burner accounts are of similar intellect (albeit, catfish may have the edge on Seb) that Grant could delete the wrong one and we’d be rid of Seb forever.

  16. All I can say is I hope Eric Reid gets torched for 5 TD passes and gets trucked by Jeff Wilson at the goal line. I have zero respect for Colin Kaepernick and I have even less respect for Eric Reid. Dude jumped on the coattails of someone he thought was getting attention as some sort of social justice warrior and Reid wanted the same attention. He had a decent rookie year and then his play declined every year after. He’s now the Panthers resident cheap shot artist who will be looking to take out ankles and knees from his former team. Reid insinuates the 49ers wronged him in some way. Navarro Bowman was playing on 1 leg and it was hard to watch. The 49ers were right to cut Bowman regardless of his prior year tackle numbers. Jed York could not have possibly done more to support CK’s social agenda so Eric Reid is full of crap. Man, now I’m fired up for this game. I hope Reid gets leveled.

  17. REPLY: “Just Me Another Freakin Robot Moron” is another of Seb’s burner accounts who appear at the rescue scene when Seb’s losing the battle….Posted below is fake vs. real (aka–Cassie Baalke=real).

The Faker is something Seb would type–words and phrases.

    Grant…

    Grow a mullet….

    1. Tom

You are not as astute as I thought you were. I have been on the blog for a few years and changed my name from Just Me to the one I use now in homage to Cassie B’s name change. I have rarely posted in the past and will probably stop posting until Grant fixes this mess or the real Seb grows up and starts acting his age.

I asked Seb to not reply and he couldn’t resist.

      1. Do not attack me, then duck and hide.
        .
You are fair game, when snarking away. If you had praised me, I probably would have honored your request.

    2. TrollD, nice try, but I have only one account, because I am so sick and tired of all these catfish trolls and burner accounts. It is tiresome to be continually attacked, but I put up with it, because I like this site so much. I will just continually respond, because that is backfiring on what these catfish trolls want. They want me to post less, but they have resulting in doubling the amounts of posts.
      .
I certainly am not FRM. That is Cassie. I certainly do not think Grant would look good with a mullet.

      1. “It is tiresome to be continually attacked, but I put up with it, because I like this site so much.”

        LMAO ? ? ?

  18. Grant…

HotMic is an interesting concept. To leverage the premise that fans should have a choice in which announcer/analyst they listen to come game time, go one step further. Add a real fan to the broadcast team. Increase HotMic credibility by embracing the typical fan–not just the closed community of social media influencer wannabes. On your next 9er HotMic, include someone from this blog. I nominate Sebbie. Might be an issue identifying the real Sebbie, but just check the various Sebbie IP addresses with Sebastopol origins. Allie would be my second choice.

  19. Still waiting for a roster move. Makes me wonder if there is some competition between certain receivers. The Niners made a trade to bring Sanders here, it seems unanimous that the reason is, the SB window is now open and coaches and players and fans understand this. It seems to me a veteran presence such as Mathews would help stabilize a receiving core that needs stabilizing.

    1. I think the Niner brain trust realizes they have something special going and they will continue trying to improve the team. It will probably get harder to make a deal now as they seem to be a real contender.

      1. I think the season pretty much exceeded even their own expectations. Of course the goal is always to get to the SB, that realty is now, and windows don’t open often.

        1. They would probably say they always thought they had all the pieces to make a run like this but I doubt they really believed they would do this well. It is great to see the success of Shanahan, Lynch and Selah when so many called for firing all of them not so long ago. I still like what Sherman recently had to say, ” If you doubted us, keep on doubting. The bandwagon is full so don’t try jumping on now”.

  20. This trade shows that the Jones Fracture injury to Trent Taylor will not allow him to play much, if at all, this season. According to a 2013 article in a medical journal:

“(Jones Fracture is) common among football players and may shorten their athletic careers, according to a February study that found players with fractures were significantly more likely than players without the injuries to have played in fewer than 10 National Football League (NFL) games.”

    https://lermagazine.com/news/in-the-moment-sports-medicine/bad-breaks-fifth-met-fractures-can-curtail-nfl-careers

The last thing the niners want to do is to roll TT out too early. The pressure to get back on the field before proper healing is probably why most players with JFs play less than 10 games in the NFL. Many Jones Fractures need to have 2nd surgeries to screw the bone to the foot again. I am thinking that this is the case for him.

    1. Cwool +49

Yeah. Be nice to see juice in the game plan to help the running game, so what the 49ers did in bringing in Sanders may add points to our already stingy defense against a streaking Panther team.

The Sanders trade will effect the outcome of this matchup as well as homefield adv. in the playoffs.

I sensed Niner management felt the same way, as Kyle Allen is off to a 5-0 start

    2. They said it was soft tissue damage near the break. I do not think they re-set the screw.
      .
There have been cases of tissue damage while removing the screw.

        1. TrollD, I know when you get upset. Your grammar gets bad.
          .
BTW, they do not rivet screws, but it does sound like you have a screw loose.

  21. A word from Grant’s posse…

For those who wish to follow quality NFL writers who really know their stuff than look no further than @HotMicInc own @grantcohn and myself. Shameless plug, don’t care. Results speak for itself. In order to report on your NFL team we need to understand dynamics of other 31.

  22. I wish to pause a moment and impart some words of wisdom here.
    .
For two weeks now this clone has been busy raking my reputation into a proverbial trash pile.
    .
I wish to provide some positivity and deep thought from my experiences. As a former local television and radio personality is fond of saying- “I’ve lived a little bit.”
    .
Look for a little bastion of brightness each day from me spreading my experiences to all of you.
    .
    With that, here goes:

“The universe illuminates a jumble of timelessness”

      1. Sigh.. catfish alert.
        .
He cannot form a complete sentence so he is resorting to insults.
        .
Is this the definition of winning?

          1. Whine Time, I’m pretty sure a simple card trick would be side-splitting to you. Let’s be honest, you’re not the… most intellectual of the blog regulars, to put it nicely.

            1. That’s lovely coming from you, Renas.
              .
You have your own shortcomings. Don’t think for a moment you’re fooling me with your kindness.

    1. I liked him in the draft. He’s a bigger, more durable version of Deion Jones, with greater football acumen and instincts….

        agreed

      2. Yeah, I remember seeing analysis of him after the Senior Bowl that was very positive and was very excited when the team drafted him in the 3rd. He’s definitely grown into a good modern day MLB that can play the run and pass very well.

Something that has also been understated in how good the D is is that Warner is the captain and the one relaying the calls and making on-field changes.

        1. The funny thing is, his biggest weakness to date was considered his best attribute going into the draft.
He was thought to be a very good cover linebacker and not as great against the run. The opposite has proven to be true thus far in his career.

  23. My ears perked up when I heard Saleh talking about Bosa, When he gets his opportunity on the tight end, he’s winning those one-on-ones also and constricting the C-gap while he can still maintain his D-gap.

I think this confirms my suspicion a 49ers representative monitors this blog.?

I’m watching Boise St. last week, and next thing I hear is the ESPN color analyst call Moa the Moa Constrictor!

  24. One thing that stood out about the Sanders presser on 49ers.com is that Sanders said he was only going to play 2 or 3 more years. He also said that in the upcoming FA the most important thing would be playing for a team where he could be happy (presumably this means a winning team). Sounds like money won’t be the overriding factor, but I’m sure he has a minimum amount in mind.

  25. I have had a day to digest the trade for Sanders, but I am still not much of a fan of the trade. Sanders feels like he is only a three-and-a-half month rental. I also do not see him elevating the offense much, if at all. What bothers me more is that I read on a Broncos blog Sanders had become disgruntled with the Broncos because he felt the ball was not coming to him often enough, and he got into a fight with a WR he was supposed to be a mentor to. Sanders has also failed to play a full season for the last two years.
A lot of fans and members of the sports media think the 49ers trading for Sanders was a great move, but as of right now, I do not see this. At best, I feel like the 49ers acquired a #2 WR which could help the offense a little bit of Garoppolo can get the ball to him. But the trade does not move the needle in terms of increasing or decreasing the possibility of the 49ers being a Super Bowl contender.

  26. Sanders and Welker, Sanders’ new position coach both played for Broncos for one year, 2014;
and Sanders was in the Pro Bowl that season. Sanders is also within 5 pounds of Welker’s playing weight.

Let’s hope that familiarity will help Sander’s acclimation into the Niners.

    Go Niners.
