Baalke: “You’ve got to be prepared to make the pick at 30, which we’re prepared to do.”

I just got home from Trent Baalke’s pre-draft press conference at which he didn’t say much of anything. That’s OK – I expected him to say nothing. What was he supposed to say? Who he’s hoping to draft?

If you’re interested in what he had to say about his first round pick, I transcribed that part below. I pass it along without comment, and if you guys would like to discuss go ahead. I’m going to move past it. I’ll post a blog in a couple hours on the top-10 pass catchers in the draft.

Back at you soon.

Baalke: “We have one person that we feel real good about that if we’re not able to make some moves, if we choose to do that, whether it be up or back. You’ve got to be prepared to make the pick at 30, which we’re prepared to do. You just see how the board falls. We certainly have more than one person. But there is one in particular that we feel will be there. And if he is, we’ll be prepared to make the pick.

“Are we expecting production out of the 30th pick? Yeah, to the level of that pick. Absolutely.”
