Dan Reeves? Niners O.C. candidate? Really?

Just like we’ve been speculating all along, the 49ers have reached out to Dan Reeves to interview for the offensive coordinator position, according to Jay Glazer of foxsports.com.

OK, we’re joking. This came completely out of nowhere.

Reeves turned 65 on Monday. In 23 seasons as an NFL head coach with the Broncos, Giants and Falcons, Reeves compiled a record of 190-165-2. He has not coached since 2003, when the Falcons fired him after losing 10 of the team’s first 13 games.

As I recall, Reeves is one of the former coaches Singletary met with in recent years to get advice to help him in his own career. (Oops, did I write Reeves was a “former coach?” Seems as if there’s a good chance that might change.)

Ravens QBs coach Hue Jackson is interviewing with the 49ers today. If/when Reeves shows up, we’ll let you know.
