Defense, Ted Ginn Jr. beat the Seahawks

SAN FRANCISCO — These are my post-game press box impressions of the Niners 33-17 victory over the Seahwaks. I’ll watch the film when I go home and give a more extensive analysis full of grades tonight.

The Niners’ defense dominated the first half. In the second half, the Seahawks made a game of it until Ted Ginn Jr. returned the two touchdowns on special teams.

Alex Smith played well – his QB rating was 90.4. But he only passed for 124 yards. Also, the Niners converted only one of their twelve third downs.

Harbaugh says the team that wins two out of three phases of the game usually wins. Today the Niners had the better defense and special teams. But they won’t win many games in the future converting just one third down.
