Demarcus Dobbs was involved in a car crash Friday morning. He was reportedly uninjured, but he was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana.
He will not play against the Rams this Sunday – he is not making the trip to St. Louis.
The 49ers released this statement: “The 49ers are aware of the recent matter involving Demarcus Dobbs. We are gathering the relevant facts as it pertains to this situation. We have been in contact with both Demarcus and the League office. He will not be making the trip to St. Louis, and we will reserve further comment at this time.”
The 49ers elevated special teams player Michael Wilhoite from the practice squad to the active roster today. He will presumably take Dobbs’ place on the coverage units this Sunday.
