For now, Warner still scheduled to visit with 49ers

Free-agent quarterback Kurt Warner is still scheduled to visit Monday with 49ers officials.

There is nothing going on today in 49erland, as far as I can tell – other than the team holding its collective breath, hoping Warner remains a free agent for at least another day.

Some in the 49ers’ organization believed Warner and the Cardinals might reach an agreement at some point before the two-time league MVP is scheduled to jump on a flight tomorrow to the Bay Area.

The 49ers are also expected to meet Monday with Redskins free-agent defensive end Demetric Evans. Warner and Evans are the only known free agents with whom the 49ers have scheduled upcoming visits.

The 49ers made contact on the first day of free agency with defensive end Chris Canty’s agent, but it was pretty obvious that wasn’t going to happen. They never even got to the point where they scheduled a visit. Canty reportedly signed a six-year, $42 million deal today with the New York Giants, who have also signed Seahawks defensive tackle Rocky Bernard.
