Gore: I’m set to practice and ‘fine’ to play Sunday

Running back Frank Gore is scheduled to practice today when the 49ers hit the field from 1:45 to 3:45 p.m. today. He said he’s happy and feeling normal.

There were some questions about Gore’s condition yesterday when he said he sustained a concussion while blocking Cardinals defender Chike Okeafor. But the 49ers said Gore had a neck strain.

Yesterday he described soreness at the base of the back of his neck. Today he said the soreness is moving further down. He is receiving ice, stim and massage to “try to get it loosened up.”

Gore said he no longer has any headaches. “I’ll be fine to play on Sunday,” he said.

He can turn his head from side-to-side, he demonstrated to a handful of reporters he spoke with just moments ago.

Gore was quite eager to talk about his cousin, Jakhari Gore, who is a standout junior running back at Columbus High in Miami. Jakhari recently had a fantastic game against Frank’s old high school.
