Green arrested in Texas 10 days ago

Free-agent outside linebacker Roderick Green had a disappointing season for the 49ers, recording just 3.5 sacks in his role as a third-down pass rusher. Now, he faces weapons and drug charges after allegedly becoming uncooperative during a traffic stop in Texas.

Green was recently charged with reckless driving, unlawfully carrying a weapon, possession of marijuana and interfering with the duties of a police officer, The Bryan-College Station Eagle newspaper reported today.

When asked for a comment, the 49ers issued the following statement:

“We’re aware of an off-the-field situation involving Roderick Green and we’re monitoring the situation. Due to the personal nature of the ongoing legal investigation, the team is withholding further comment until the matter is resolved legally.”

Green is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. The club is looking to upgrade its pass rush this offseason, casting doubt on Green’s future with the 49ers.
