Lattimore says he “most likely” will be ready to play at some point in the regular season

SANTA CLARA – Marcus Lattimore spoke to Bay Area reporters Tuesday afternoon. Here’s what he said.

Q: What have you been up to?

LATTIMORE: Same ole, same ole. Getting stronger. Running. Getting that confidence back, that’s the main thing right now.

Q: Do you see improvement?

LATTIMORE: Yeah, I feel improvement every day, just technique-wise. You get the running down, and then you start agility. It translates to football after that. I feel better every day.

Q: When the 49ers drafted you, Harbaugh said they were going to slow you down on your rehab. In retrospect, were you going too fast?

LATTIMORE: I know exactly what was going on. You see cases of guys rushing back and then they tear the other one, or they tear it again. I knew exactly where he was coming from when he said they were going to back off a little bit and slow it down and just give the knee time to heal. That’s what it needs so when it is time to go, there are no setbacks.

Q: How will you know when you’re 100 percent?

LATTIMORE: You won’t know until you get hit. Once you put on the pads and you take a hit and fall on your knee and get back up, that’s when you know you’re ready to go.

Q: When do you think you’ll be 100 percent?

LATTIMORE: I really don’t know any time table. Most likely the regular season.
