Report: 49ers trade for CB Eric Wright

ESPN is reporting the 49ers have traded a conditional late-round 2014 draft pick to the Buccaneers for 28-year-old cornerback Eric Wright. Wright played just 10 games last season because he injured his ankle and was suspended four games for violating the league’s PED policy. He was also arrested for DUI last Friday.

In the 10 games he played last season, he gave up 96.6 passer rating according to Pro Football Focus. He played 93 snaps in the slot and gave up a 101.2 passer rating at that position.

In 2011, Wright played better. He gave up an 84.1 passer rating overall. He played 251 snaps in the slot and gave up a 68.1 passer rating at that position. On the other hand, Wright gave up a 98.2 passer rating in 174 snaps covering the slot in 2010.

Do you think Wright will have a good or not-so-good season in 2013? Do you think he’ll take Carlos Rogers’ job as the No.1 slot cornerback? Why or why not?
