Stadium score: YES 52, NO 36

In case you missed it, a recent poll conducted by San Jose State University’s Survey and Policy Research Institute shows that 52 percent of likely voters currently favor Measure J, which would construct a 68,500-seat stadium next to the Great America Theme Park in Santa Clara. Only 36 percent of respondents said they were opposed.

A vast thicket of political and economic challenge still lie before the proposal, starting with the election on June 8. But these results have to be pleasing to the 49ers and the development backers. Especially encouraging: Of those who have registered since January, 72 percent plan to vote yes.
