KTVU invited my dad and I to join the Mercedes Benz Sports Weekend with Mark Ibanez and Joe Fonzi to talk all things 49ers. Check out the segment:

  1. It’s an opportunity to put an exclamation mark on a fantastic season, and put to death the myth that the 49ers can’t win up there.

    1. Everyone who knows me, knows I never pull punches …. Grant Cohn has grown on me as this season has worn on, and I’ve always enjoyed his father lowell. Now, don’t make the mistake of thinking that means I always agree with them, but …. they make a great team, and there’s a certain genuine quality to the both of them, even if Grant still gets it wrong from time to time ?

Good work Grant, and thumbs up to Cohn & Cohn! Now, GO Niners!

      1. There are dozens and dozens of QB’s who have started games in the NFL this season … and Derek Carr might be the softest of all of them. He’s almost certainly the worst cold weather QB of the lot!

  2. Grant I don’t understand why the PD can’t send you up to Seattle for what is the biggest game in franchise history in the last 5 years?
    WTF?

    1. Grant should be there, I agree.

“Newspapers'” budgets now have journalists on the cheap. The good news is that there still is a PD; the other news is that local papers’ survival is not guaranteed.

Competitors get more advertising revenues from meaningless posts from through illiterate social media “influencers” than they do by writing stories that cause a literate reader to choose one paper over the other.

  3. Iggy= I hope pops is wrong on this one….Wilson is an MVP QB and the 12th man could even things up…

Team has to play keep away…keep the ball away from Wilson let him wilt on the sidelines

      1. There’s a small rain band moving north just south of Portland, thru Portland into south Washington at 1:25pm heading towards Seattle. So it may rain some tonite there. Hopefully not.

  4. Great stuff.. Wish I had confidence today. This is another one of those games where Shanahan, Garappolo and the team need to mentally break through..

  5. I posted something on the previous post, about this interview.
    .
I was very pleased and entertained by this interview, and hope to see more. Both Mark and Joe showed a ton of respect to Lowell, a Bay Area legend.

  6. Didn’t realize that almost 80% of the teams that make the superbowl were either the no 1 or no 2 seed in the conference (54% for the no. 1 seed). On that basis this game really is huge for the 49ers chances of making the superbowl.

  7. With all the things the 9ers need to do in this game, Special Teams play needs to be very solid. When ya gotta punt, pin ’em back–well inside the 20…

        1. No I wish I was at that game. I was in New Orleans for that and my ears were ringing for about 8 hours after.
Tonight is personal with Seattle. I’m nervous!

  8. According to Field Yates Richburg has had his contract reworked. Will be interesting to see what the restructure looks like. One would assume it is with an eye to freeing up cap space for next season in order to extend/ re-sign some guys.

      1. Yeah, definitely a strong possibility. I wouldn’t rule out reworking Ford and/ or Alexander’s contracts either. You then have the guys they will likely let go such as McKinnon and Goodwin. It won’t be difficult for the team to create the cap space they need to extend and re-sign all the players they want to keep. Will just come down to whether they want to.

          1. Well, its only one restructure so far and we don’t know the details yet, so too early to tell in my book. They have a number of guys other than Armstead also coming off contract they will likely want to keep around as well.

            1. I guess I thought there was pretty much enough money already available to sign the obvious guys (assuming Jet and Goodwin are off the books). I’m not sure though. However, if true, the restructuring might be for Armstead.

  9. Wonder if Kittle will declare today National Tight End Day…..as he’s done in the past.

We need a National Longsnapper Day.

  10. I’m watching eagles – giant game . Kaden Smith is catching everything thrown to him ,why the EFFF did the 49ers keep Levine freaking Toilolo or whatever his name is over this guy ??? Makes absolutely no sense

  11. Biggest regular season game in the careers of almost all of the Niners’ players and for the young coaches, including Shanahan. No pressure!
