SANTA CLARA — Here is a video of the 49ers pass-rush drills from Sunday’s practice.

And here’s a video of Richard Sherman running very slowly.

  1. This is a great idea Grant. You can put your future interviews on YouTube too. YouTube will definitely help you grow your brand. Thumbs up, arrows up.

  2. Funny that we had this debate several days ago about giving up a 1st round pick for Mack. Now Grant mentions in his periscope session that he wants us to mull over the idea of the 49ers giving up Foster and a 1st round pick for Mack. First round pick is one thing, but throwing in Foster as well??! Recommend the team passes on this idea.

    1. I didn’t hear the “first” round pick. If that’s the case I’d keep Foster.

But if it was a later pick + Foster I’d consider the trade because of position importance.

      1. Yes, if a later round pick, but I was pretty sure he said 1st round pick at some point. Mack’s still gonna want an average of $20 million. Would you pay that much?

      2. Just listened to the Periscope session again. Grant said “offer Reuben Foster and a pick, maybe a first, for Khalil Mack”.

        1. In that case I keep Foster. The 2019 draft is supposed to be deep in pass rushers. I’d hang on to that pic.

        2. Why would Oakland give up a perennial all-pro player for a player yet to make a serious splash other than off season news?

If the raiders are inept enough to make such a one sided deal like that I’d be on board, but I doubt that they even entertain the idea.

  3. Grant, any camp mentions of undrafted DB Tarvarus McFadden? Haven’t heard a word, just curious how he is doing. BTW, I like your periscopes. Good sense of humor, entertaining.

  4. Totally enjoying the line drills.

The stunts seem disruptive. Thomas clearly belongs inside on pass downs. DJ Jones starting NT? Why is 280lb Julian Taylor rushing from the end spot? He’s an inside rusher in college. McGlinchy seems to do better vs power rushers. Speed gives him problems.

  5. I’m not sure if Verrett plays slot corner or not. But if he does, would it make sense to trade Ward to the Chargers even if the 49ers have to cover some of Ward’s salary (around 2 or so million)?

  6. Crazy part is, no cb in the league, not even your beloved Marcus Peters catches up to Goodwin in a flat out go route. Just saying

  7. Sherman has something that many fast CB’s don’t have – field savvy.
He has gone up against the best WR’s/QB’s in the league and has won most match-ups.

Sherman knows the nuances of his position and can read defensive alignments and QB/WR intricacies that allows him to know the play before it happens.
Richard also gives the young secondary a coach on the field which will be a big asset.
Even with Sherm’s lack of speed, I expect to see an overall improvement in the secondary this year.

    1. I agree, AES, even if Sherman does not play, his presence and knowledge on the sideline will be invalueble.
