Dixon: “All week we had been saying we were going to go there and take it to” the Patriots

SANTA CLARA – Anthon Dixon spoke at his locker Tuesday afternoon. Here’s what he said.

Q: Could you talk about your block on the fake punt?

DIXON: We’ve been doing it all year. My assignment, basically, was to cut the edge cut and that’s what I did. He came off hard, he really didn’t see me, kind of had his head down. I just cut him.

Q: Have you been practicing that for awhile?

DIXON: Yeah, it’s part of the regular special-teams routine. We always go over the fakes. We go over all the situations.

Q: Did you think the ball was more slippery on Sunday night??

DIXON: The couple times I touched it, it didn’t seem that slippery. I only touched it like twice, so I really don’t know how slippery it was. It looked slippery.

Q: Does a win like that tell you where the team is?

DIXON: I think it showed a lot of heart. It showed a lot of guts. That’s basically what we’re about over here. That was definitely a dog fight, but we were up for the challenge. All week we had been saying we were going to go there and take it to them. That was our plan, as soon as we stepped off the bus. We went out there and executed. We’ve just got to finish a little better.

Q: Are you expecting a physical game vs. Seattle?

DIXON: Definitely. That’s a little rivalry. We know those guys. We’ve played them a bunch of times. We know what to expect and we’ll definitely be ready.

Q: What do you see from Seattle? They’ve scored 50 points past two games.

DIXON: The same thing we saw when we watched the Patriots. They did the same thing to the Texans. We’ve got to take them serious. We’re not going to underestimate them. And we’re definitely not sleeping on them. We see what they’re doing, but at the same time they see us, too. It’s going to be a clash of the titans. It’s going to be good. It’s going to be fun, it’s going to be physical. But that’s the way we like it. We’re ready.

Q: Is Seattle the loudest place you play?

DIXON: Oh yeah, it’s very loud. It’s kind of hard to communicate at times. But at the same time, it pumps me life in me. Just to hear those people going crazy like that. It’s really a great experience. I feed off that. Even though they’re cheering against us, when they get loud, you know it’s time. It’s going to be fun.
