Goodwin: “When you get behind, you have to throw the ball a little bit more. That’s not what this team is about.”

SANTA CLARA – Offensive linemen Jonathan Goodwin and Alex Boone spoke in the locker room Monday afternoon. Here’s how each player summed up the offense’s performance against the Giants on Sunday.

GOODWIN: We were moving the ball and I think once we got behind, that kind of changed some things up. It was a seven-point game at halftime, and then they were able to come out and get a touchdown. We kind of got behind. When you get behind, you have to throw the ball a little bit more. That’s not what this team is about.

BOONE: I was blown away. We started the game so well – we were driving down, got caught in the red zone. Driving down again, got caught in the red zone. And then all of a sudden we just kind of stalled. We were shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties and dumb things that we cannot do. We know that as an offense. It’s hard to sit here and talk about that now because all I have on my mind right now is Seattle because it’s the Thursday night game. But it’s over. I’m sure we’ll watch it this weekend after the Seattle game. We have to come back and look at it and say: “Where did we go wrong? What did we do wrong?” We have to make this better. We can’t have this happen the rest of the year. Foot on the gas pedal, keep going.
