Jimmy Raye interviews for O.C. position

Jets assistant Jimmy Raye, a 32-year coaching veteran, is in Santa Clara today to interview for the club’s vacant offensive-coordinator position.

Raye served as the Jets’ running backs coach since 2006 under Eric Mangini, but he is not expected to be retained on Rex Ryan’s staff. Raye was 49ers receivers coach in 1977 under Ken Meyer.

Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson interviewed for the second time for the 49ers’ O.C. job on Tuesday. Raye becomes the eighth individual who has sat down with coach Mike Singletary and GM Scot McCloughan about the opening. Singletary fired Mike Martz on Dec. 30.
