Niners try out WRs Houshmandzadeh, Chambers

According to the Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows, the Niners have worked out free agent wide receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chris Chambers.

Harbaugh needs another 200-lb wide receiver who can at least run block on the perimeter. Ted Ginn Jr. and Kyle Williams, the next two wide receivers on the depth chart under the injured Joshua Morgan, are speedy slot receivers.

Of the two receivers, Houshmandzadeh is a year older (he’s 34), but I think he’s the superior player. But both he and Chambers had unproductive seasons in 2010, and neither guy may have anything left in the tank.
