Pregame notes from Green Bay

Greetings from Lambeau Field. Greetings from Lambeau Field. Greetings from Lambeau Field.

Sorry, I just really enjoy writing that.

They don’t have pigskin-lined streets here, much to my surprise, but they do have everything else to delight a diehard NFL fan, including an ocean of alcohol in the parking lot.

These folks take tailgating to a Hall-of-Fame level. Unfortunately, many
of them wouldn’t be able to stand — or speak — for their enshrinement
ceremony.

OK, the forecast for kickoff: 22 degrees, 14
mile-per-hour winds and 20 percent chance of snow showers. A few stray
flakes are falling now.

• 49ers inactives: LB Parys Haralson,
David Carr (third QB), K Joe Nedney, CB Will James, LB Keaton Kristick,
LB Thaddeus Gibson, T Joe Staley, T Alex Boone,

With Haralson out, outside linebackers Travis LaBoy and Ahmad Brooks will see more snaps.

CB
Shanwtae Spencer, who was questionable with a quadriceps injury and C
David Baas, questionable with a concussion he suffered Monday night,
will be in the starting lineup.

• Packers inactives: S Atari Bigby, CB Pat Lee, RB
Dimitri Nance, S Anthony Smith, LB Matt Wilhelm, C/G Nick McDonald, G/T
Marshall Newhouse, DE Jarius Wynn.

• Here’s the game advance. The
Niners only road win against a team that finished the season with a
winning record from 2007-09 was their 20-16 season-opening win at
Arizona in 2009. They are 0-2 on the road this season against teams that
currently have a winning record (Kansas City, Atlanta).

• One of
today’s key matchups will feature rookie right tackle Anthony Davis
against Green Bay linebacker Clay Matthews. The 49ers haven’t given
Davis much blocking assistance this season, but they plan to do so
today.

It’s possible a pair of rookies — Davis and running back Anthony Dixon — will team up against Matthews on occasion.

• The folks at Green Bay Press-Gazette are predicting a Packers victory:

Pete Dougherty: Packers 24, Niners 13 … “This is a must-win for the Packers’ playoff hopes.”

Rob Demovsky: Packers 31, 49ers 13 … “As long as the Packers can keep
tight end Vernon Davis from running roughshod over them, they should be
able to handle the disappointing 49ers.”

Mike Vandermause: Packers 24, 49ers 17 … “Although the Packers are heavy favorites, this won’t be an easy game.”

Kareem Copeland: Packers 24, 49ers 13 … “Don’t expect many points from the visitors.”

The Packers will go old-school today, wearing a re-creation of its
uniforms from 1929 when they won their first world title under coach
Curly Lambeau. Their helmets are solid brown to simulate a leather
helmet.

• The coldest gametime temperature at kickoff for the Niners in the season’s first 11 games: 53 degrees vs. Oakland at Candlestick. It was 54 at kickoff in London and against Tampa Bay at Candlestick.

• The 49ers have lost seven straight at Lambeau. Their last win in Green Bay was a 24-20 victory on Nov. 4, 1990. Joe Montana threw for 411 yards and tossed touchdowns to Jerry Rice, John Taylor and Brent Jones.
