Aldon Smith says he’s “all healed up and ready to go” after stabbing

SANTA CLARA – Aldon Smith spoke to reporters for the first time since his stabbing on June 30, and here’s what he said.

Q: There’s been a lot of concern around the country for your well-being. What was the saddest part for you?

ALDON SMITH: Letting everyone down was probably the saddest part. I’m back to 100 percent and I’m ready to go.

Q: You felt like you let who down?

ALDON SMITH: After the incidents that happened and the expectations that were set for me, I feel like I let the fans and everybody down.

Q: What has that done for you?

ALDON SMITH: Just helped my focus out. I’m focused more than ever, not to say that I wasn’t focused at the beginning.

Q: How scary was this? Did you see your career flash before your eyes?

ALDON SMITH: I wouldn’t say that. You definitely think about what happened and how you want to be perceived and how you want your career to go.

Q: Did you get stitches?

ALDON SMITH: Staples.

Q: Do you expect to feel your injury as you practice?

ALDON SMITH: I’m good. I’m alright. I’m all healed up and ready to go.

Thanks for this, Grant. Also, first line typo – “smoke” to “spoke”.

Here’s hoping Aldon now has his head on straight and that we’ll never have to hear about him doing stupid stuff during an offseason, again.

I think Aldon has learned his lesson & he should feel fortunate that neither incident had any major ramifications. Time to move on & get better at that OLB spot, there’s football to played now.

I hope this young man realizes that he can’t do those kind of things anymore. You dont want the NFL or us fans to start looking at him a problem child. That mantra is extremely hard to wash off. Hopefully he has his head screwed on straight and we can move on from here. The thing that pisses me off the most is that these players that do this already know the right thing to do in these situations and that they have a bullseye on their backs and it keeps happening again and again.

I feel like Aldon Smith starting every game at OLB next to Justin Smith this year will result in Aldon getting close to 20 sacks and being a serious contender for Defensive Player of the Year. Heck, starting every game at OLB might give Aldon a chance at breaking the All Time Season Sack record of 23 by Strahan. Also, I’m more optimistic than pessimistic so take this comment with a grain of salt.

    Harbaugh’s comments on Aldon Smith:

What is Aldon Smith’s status and how scary the process was for you? “Aldon passed his conditioning test yesterday and will practice full go today.”

Were you concerned about Aldon’s off-field incidents? “I’ve talked to Aldon and that conversation is private. Aldon doesn’t need to re-read the same thing I told him quoted in your newspaper.”

    • Msclemons67 says:

Harbaugh left out “he needs to get better every day.” I’m disappointed.

Two weeks until the 1st exhibition game. It’s gonna be a looooong two weeks.

Yeah, thank god for the Olympics. We have real sports to watch until football starts. I was getting tired of that so called ‘sport’ baseball.

At which point you and everybody will say something like:

“Can’t judge anything by that game. JH won’t reveal a thing until the real season starts.”

And, = correct, I agree with your post.

    Enrico,

    Easy bud, Baseball is Americana!

Glad Aldon is ok. Hope he becomes the most feared ROLB in the NFL this season.
