Is the August 12 practice/fanfest an actual practice or merely thousands of fans milling around the playing field?

It’s lame, the players don’t want to be there at all, it’s obvious. Thousands of fans waiting in line for autographs that most of them won’t get.
Every year I takes my son’s for the fan fair over at the Sharks tank, and they give you number’s so you are guaranteed autograph’s. They go in several groups of players, so you can get at least 5 autograpgs from one group. Very organized and the players are very friendly.
Too bad the Sharks are the softest team in the NHL!

You watch a 3 hour practice then go onto field to get autographs. But most players dont seem too thrilled. Most dont say a word. And VD, PW, FG sign about 5 autographs then leave.
Perhaps it should be done before practice and for a set time.
If you have the time and inclination I’d be curious to get a take by take view of one of your days at training camp. Take us from arrival through departure. Don’t leave anything out that doesn’t involve a water closet, I think we can pass on your daily bm’s.
Be sure to get an assessment on how Boone looks at RG with the pads on. And if you get a chance, ask Harbaugh and some of the players and other coaches what they think of Football Outsiders statistically saying the team will only win seven games this season.

Can’t wait to hear the reports from training camp. The battle between the backup QB’s might be the best. I fully expect Mr. Hunter to hold off Mr. James for the backup to Mr. Gore, but Dixon vs. Jacobs could prove interesting. I will be hoping for another pass rusher to emerge from the LB group.

We’re looking forward to camp reports. Please DO keep doing what you’ve done in reporting impressions as well as throw#s and completion%. I’d also be interested in the guys’ attitudes about other teams marking their schedules and aiming for them this year.
The competition at QB & RB & WR should be fun to watch. I’ll want to know how some of the bubble guys at OL and OLB are doing. This coaching staff doesn’t like to criticize their guys publicly. Perhaps when offering your thoughts that are critical of a player (to serve your readers), you may choose your words carefully. It’s not easy to criticize without offending, but it might help to keep you close enough to the players to get the insights you seek. In my mind that isn’t being a journalistic wussy or a shill for the team.
That being said, I can get some info from Matt and Barrows and Sando and still enjoy your fresh approach.

In any case, football is in the air! All rookies report today with the vets not far behind. Looking forward to a great new season and it begins in training camp. How will Boone do? Will JJ emerge as our back-up QB? Will L.James ‘wow’ during TC? Can MC become the force he was drafted to be as our #1 WR? Can AS repeat and even exceed last years success?

I take it your really good at the yard work, I got some over at my place if you care to induldge. You know the type, pruning, pulling weeds, mowing the lawn. My wife wont yell at you or give you instruction, she will offer you a beer and tell ya get back to work.
Yes its nice to see the football season on the horizon. Training camp first, then the season in what about six, seven weeks. Lots of our questions will soon be answered – well except one and thats if we are going to the big dance.

(lol) Thanks, but no thanks. I love taking care of my yard and keeping it manicured. It’s just a challenge when it get’s hot over here in the valley. I grew up in the Bayarea (Berkeley/Oakland) and I’ll take that weather any day of the week.
I look at TC as the start of the football season (minus the real games), because so much of what we see during the season will be determined there.
There will be some interesting battles in TC this year. Most of them surrounding Grant’ 5 biggest questions on yesterday’s blog.
