Jacobs visits Giants locker room after game

SAN FRANCISCO – I couldn’t find Brandon Jacobs in the 49ers locker room after the game.

I waited until every player left. Still no Jacobs.

So I walked to the Giants’ locker room. Who did I see? Jacobs. He was talking to Justin Tuck, his former teammate.

Tuck was sitting on a stool. Jacobs was leaning against the locker, wearing camouflage pants and a green polo shirt. He was talking with his hands. It seemed like he was explaining something.

Tuck didn’t say much. He listened and shook his head a lot, as if to say, “Ain’t that shame.”

After ten minutes, Tuck stood up and he and Jacobs hugged. Tuck left but Jacobs didn’t. Jacobs looked around for someone else to hug. He found a couple trainers, hugged them and told them he misses them.

Geez. Wasn’t Jacobs a troublemaker when he was with the Giants? The one who threw his helmet and complained about losing playing time to Bradshaw? Can we give him back? Dixon seems more serious about his job since Jacobs came on board, maybe he’s our short-yardage SME now.

This is what I have been saying since TC even before the Jacobs injury but for some reason they won’t hand AD the ball

    • Joe Clark says:

As a Giants fan, BJ was never a troublemaker with the Giants. And he took a pay cut so that the Giants could resign Bradshaw, his best friend.

I don’t know if BJ is a good fit for SF, and he’s probably past his prime, but he’s fully capable of putting 100+ yards up in a game if Gore ever goes down. Especially behind a good o-line like SF has.

  2. Sergio Mendoza says:

He should get released instantly. He hasn’t done anything for us anyway. Its like a slap in the face saying he doesn’t want to be a Niner. Please release him

  3. Hoferfan67 says:

Not a good move in my opinion. In the words of EddieD…he’s gone!

  4. Michael says:

Please get rid of this guy. We have enough Running Backs… You can replace him with another pass rusher….Andrea Carter who lives in the Bay Area. Yes, we need another pass rusher. New England had him last year and he posted ten sacks. C’mon Jim, make it happen.

  5. Devin says:

It’s all about the team. Support the one you are on win or lose. This sort of think makes conspiracy theorists salivate. Helped break down the Giant’s “tenancies”? Giants seemed to know what plays were being run throughout the game?

After he ran his mouth this week, he needs to go the way of Braylon Edwards.

  6. Houston 9er says:

Who cares? These men were his friends and teammates for years. So what if he visited their locker room. I would think this type of scenario happens quite often in the NFL.

  7. jjj says:

He wouldn’t be pissed if he was playing… Could have used him today. That being said it’s obvious he is not in the long term plans and is only here as Frank Gore insurance. Settle down people; why cut him now? Just keep him inactive every week as punishment! That would hurt his ego more, plus still keep him around as insurance. Don’t let him go potentially help someone else.

  8. Msclemons67 says:

We let Cartwright go to keep this buffoon?

  9. 23jordan/Alex is who I said he was! says:

On the other hand, if Jacobs is healthy and ready to play in his opinion, why not activate Him. From all the short yardage plays that I can remember this year, we damn sure could use him. We can’t pick up one yard when we need it. I knew it was garbage when he turned arou d and said ge wasn’t ready to play. He is ready to play. We clearly need him in the offense. Maybe he needs to be active. Maybe he should’ve been already. Certainly, he could very well be gone tomorrow.

    • La-La Land says:

I don’t know, Jordo. Jacobs strikes me as the T.O. of running backs. If he doesn’t get his way, he mouths off. Kinda like the Alex lovers.

  10. tkamB says:

Don’t know why we have Jacobs on this team anyway should just cut him. Wasn’t like he was a good short yardage back in New York, would much rather have a playmaker like LaMichael James activated.

  11. Crab15 says:

No excuse for Jacobs going to Giants locker room after his team gets crushed and coach Gilbride talks *h*t on Justin Smith.
    What a selfish, disrespectful kiss-ass.
Now I understand why his rehab took so long. He’s not committed to Niners.

  12. MidWestNiner says:

    Bye-bye Jacobs. Idiot.

  13. RR says:

This is a moot point. Jacobs will get on the field or not. The bigger question and story is the quarterback play.

  14. AES* says:

    No story here Grant.
BJac has many friends on the Giants team. He has yet to make any contributions on the 49ers and with little practice time during the week, he is still on the outside looking in.

BJac is in football limbo and it has to make him feel very helpless and lonely. I have no problems with him seeking any kind of affirmation, even if it comes from former teammates.

  15. Worlds greatest man says:

I know why we are keeping Brandon Jacobs, because the minute we release him the Cardinals are going to snap him up. That would be a huge blow to the niners if a division rival got him with all the knowledge he has on our run game. The cardinals are on what their 4th Rb.. Who cares if he isnt playing Harbaugh is smart and they are fighting dirty to win the division.

  16. AES* says:

If Harbaugh has shown us anything, it’s that he does not concern himself with what others have to say.

Harbaugh is going to do things his way, period. I also believe that unlike Nolan and Singletary, he will not try to squeeze something out of AS if he determines there’s nothing there.

Alex still gives us a better chance of winning then CK, but the 49ers brain-thrust has to take a closer look at the QB position for the future.
If AS’ inconsistency issues continue, there has to be some changes made after the season.

CK may not be ready to start next year, so free agency (QB) may be at a premium next summer.

I want AS to succeed, but he has yet to show consistency from one game to the next. I was hopeing that this area would have been one of his strengths coming into his second season. So far, AS’ signature game is last year’s game against the Saints. AS was lights-out in that game and put the team on his back. But since that game AS has taken two steps forward and one step back.

I see it, and I’m sure that Harbaugh and the Org see it as well.

  17. dReed says:

unacceptable…didnt he just hav a meeting with coach? this guy does seems like the type to share our playbook with old buddies…he needs to go, now.

  18. Chicago49er says:

I dont like it at all! NOT after your team gets smoked! Jacobs should have waited to catch up with his friends later.

    • Jack Hammer says:

Jacobs was not the only 49er over in the Giants locker room after the game. Manningham was over there as well.

  19. Jaclyn Em says:

Jacobs played with Big Blue for years. They are his friends. Same with Manningham. With all the time spent preparing for games and playing, it’s not like they get a ton of time to catch up. This is being blown way out of proportion. And I shouldn’t even have to acknowledge the “he gave the Niners’ plays away” comments. That’s childish. Making excuses for your team getting beaten isn’t fan behavior.

  20. helga fels says:

Has anyone signed Rock Cartwright? Cut Jacobs and sign Cartwright for special teams

  21. jgwindsor says:

no big deal visiting the opposite locker room…..

    friendships are friendships

  22. jgwindsor says:

special teams on the niners are really sucking this year….more than any other phase of the team has set this team back…..

is that costello special teams super guy on the ravens or were is he

  23. Detroit9er says:

Costanzo is with the Bears I believe
