49ers cut Brandon Jacobs

The 49ers just announced they’ve waived running back Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs had been suspended without pay for the last three games. The official reason for Jacobs’ suspension was unclear.

Monday afternoon, Jim Harbaugh was asked if Jacobs would be returning to the team for the playoffs. “No, he will not,” Harbaugh replied.

He was asked if the 49ers would release Jacobs, and he said yes.

I called this early on in the season, that the 49ers would hold on to Jacobs until they played arizona twice, because Arizona was starving for running backs. The 49ers are ruthlessly competitive.

What a waste of a roster spot Jacobs was. We could have had Owusu instead of that bum.

    Non-issue right now.

  4. Sean in Canada says:

Can Jacobs now be picked up by any of the playoffs teams or does the fact he wasn’t active on the final week still make him ineligible?

    • Sean in Canada says:

Disregard, I found my answer. He is unavailable to any team for the playoffs.

Glad the Giants are not in it, he would probably help them out with our playbook, although they own us for now.
