49ers v. Texans live blog: Third quarter

SAN FRANCISCO — This is the live blog for the third quarter of the 49ers’ Week 5 game against the Texans. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

7:03 Kaepernick underthrows a wide open Vernon Davis deep on first down, Kaepernick doesn’t see a wide open Kyle Williams deep on second down so he throws to Boldin and gets his pass knocked down at the line of scrimmage. On third down Kaepernick throws deep to Baldwin and he catches it but only gets one foot in bounds. The 49ers punt. Texans’ ball at their 34.

7:07 Andre Johnson drops a 23-yard touchdown pass on third-and-three. The Texans will attempt a field goal. It’s good. 21-3 Texans.

7:11 Gore is back in the game.

7:13 The 49ers go three-and-out. Watt beats Anthony Davis on first down to tackle Gore for a one-yard loss. Gore gains six yards up the middle on second down and Mercilus sacks Kaepernick on third down.

7:14 The Texans commit a holding penalty on the punt return. They’ll start at their 10 yard line.

7:17 The Texans gain one yard and go three-and-out. Schaub takes a sack from McDonald on third down. Get Schaub off the field.

7:18 The Texans punt. First-and-10 for the 49ers at their 41.

7:25 Ray McDonald injured his bicep and is out.

7:27 Dawson makes a 38-yard field goal. 24-3 49ers. Frank Gore pops another 26-yard run. He had three other carries on the drive and gained negative one net yards on those runs. Kaepernick was 0-for-2 on the drive. His passer rating is down to 42.1 tonight. He hasn’t completed a pass since the first possession of the game.

7:36 Schaub completes a 19-yard pass to Daniels on fourth-and-one.

7:40 Schaub throws a pick right to Tony Jerod-Eddie on third-and-12. Schaub out-did himself on that one. It isn’t easy to throw a pick to a defensive tackle.

7:43 On first-and-ten, Gore gains one yard around the left side. That’s the end of the third quarter.
