49ers v. Titans live blog: First quarter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — This is the live blog for the first quarter of the 49ers’ Week 7 game against the Titans. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

1:04 The 49ers call tails and it’s tails and they defer.

1:06 Phil Dawson kicks the opening kickoff out of the end zone.

1:10 Darius Reynaud drops a first-down pass on third-and-four and the Titans punt and Kyle Williams makes a fair catch at the 49ers’ 8. The Titans converted one third down. Kendall Wright beat Carlos Rogers in the slot for 21 yards.

1:20 Phil Dawson makes a 45-yard field goal. 3-0 49ers. Gore had six carries for 22 yards. Kaepernick hit Vernon Davis on a corner route for 24 yards. Kaepernick converted a third-and-six with a 10-yard run on a read-option. The drive ended when Kaepernick lost two yards on a read option run on third-and-four. Kaepernick did not throw a pass to a wide receiver on the drive. But Kaepernick did overthrow an open Vernon Davis in the end zone on second-and-four.

1:31 On third-and-five Locker throws a beautiful touch pass deep to Delanie Walker who beats Patrick Willis. Next play, the Titans commit a holding penalty and cannot recover. They punt. Williams returns it to the 49ers’ 28 but the 49ers’ are flagged for holding. First-and-10 at the SF 4.

1:37 The 49ers use their first timeout on third-and-12 from the 2. Frank Gore lost three yards on first down and Bruce Miller gained a yard back on second down.

1:40 Kaepernick completes a 7-yard pass to Boldin on third-and-12 and McCourty tackles him right away. The 49ers must punt.
