49ers Week 17 grades: Quarterbacks

SAN FRANCISCO – The 49ers stomped the Cardinals 27-13. Here is the grade for the 49ers quarterbacks.

Quarterbacks: A. Colin Kaepernick was not good in the first quarter, but neither were the rest of the 49ers. He completed just one pass for five yards in the first quarter. He almost threw an interception, too.

From the second quarter on, Kaepernick played the best football of his life. He completed 15 of 24 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns – a 129 QB rating. He would have had three TD passes and an even higher QB rating if Delanie Walker hadn’t dropped a TD pass in the second half. When Kaepernick is on, as he was for three quarters today, he makes throws no one else in the NFL can make.

Alex Smith came in for two series in the fourth quarter when the game was all wrapped up. He attempted one pass and completed it for six yards. He also handed off two times and kneeled down a couple of times. They were some of the best hand offs and kneel downs you’ve ever seen.
