Hey, Eric — Could you do a review piece on just what the teams and players can/can’t do for the remainder of the off-season, until a new CBA is in place? (Can they train together, is the facility on lockdown, can Harbaugh review game tapes, etc….)
Thanks!
Suppose a team spends $100 million of a $120 million salary cap. Does the unused salary cap money of $2o million carry over to the following year under the new CBA, so that they can spend $140 million next year?
in the past it did not …. don’t expect it to now

I have an interesting ideal question for you as a topic. Could Colin Kapernick have the same sucess as Alex Smith did if he became the starter in 2012. If he played Alex Smith game in which he was mart with the football and kept the defense in position to win the games. Im thinking worst case scenario Alex is not resigned or hurt.
If Kaepernick started next year you could expect more turnovers than Smith and more explosive plays than Smith. If the defense stays intact, he could win 10 games and win the division.
It wouldn’t be fair to judge him on his first year since it would be his first live bullets. He’d learn to read a defense, get the same excellent coaching that Alex got. His true test would be his second year.
I like where you are going with this bayareafanatic. I think we need to hand the ball to CK and see what he can do. He is a better runner and i am hoping is insticts are better and he can see the field better than AS. Hopefully we did not spend a high draft choice on somebody who will sit on the bench for 4 years. Do we spend $10 mill per year on AS or do we use that money to do beef up all the other players on the offensive side? We need at least 1 Wide out, probably two O-lineman, and 1 running back. Dalton did GREAT one pick before us, do we think JH is a better quarterbacks coach than most headcoaches? I say yes!
