Aldon Smith on Justin Smith, and more.

SANTA CLARA – Here are some quotes from Aldon Smith’s Q&A today outside the 49ers locker room.

Q: How much does it help you playing right next to Justin Smith?

ALDON SMITH: That definitely helps. Man, he demands so much attention. He’s a great player. He makes my job easier.

Q: Are you blocked one-on-one often because you’re next to him?

ALDON SMITH: Yeah, I’d say so, yeah, because you’ve definitely got to double team him.

Q: They can’t double team both of you, can they?

ALDON SMITH: No, I don’t think so.

Q: Did it feel like your head was spinning out there earlier in the season compared to now?

ALDON SMITH: Yeah. I’m always going back to my first day of camp, and we were going through some drills and I kind of just paused because everything went fast, but now everything’s starting to slow down and I’m getting the hang of it a little bit.

Q: How is everything working out so well for you guys when everything’s so new?

ALDON SMITH: When did new ever become a bad thing, you know? I think anytime something’s new you’ve got a better chance of it working out. The coach has done a good job preparing us. We’re believing what he’s saying and we’re all on board.

Q: You got rookie of the week last week and you’ve been nominated again this week. How’s it feel to get that kind of recognition?

ALDON SMITH: That’s cool. That’s definitely cool. Give me some votes (laughter).

Q: When you win the rookie of the week, do you get anything? A certificate, perhaps?

ALDON SMITH: Nah, I haven’t gotten anything yet. A Pepsi. I drink Sprite (laughter).

Q: Got any plans for this week?

ALDON SMITH: I’m going to try to just get away. I’m not going to tell you my secrets, but I’m going to get away and do something.

Q: Where are you going to go?

ALDON SMITH: I’m getting away Southwest-style (laughter).
