49ers final injury report for NFC Championship Game

The 49ers are relatively healthy for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Rams, with one big exception.

Starting left tackle Trent Williams has not participated in practice this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday.

“It’s going to be like it was three weeks ago. I feel the same way as I did at the beginning of the week,” said 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. “He came out for walk-through today and Trent is adamant that he’s going. And he was last time, too, which, I believe Trent when he says that he’s going to do everything that he can to play. And so I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t, but I was surprised last time. I was also surprised he was able to finish the game versus Green Bay. So hopefully his mindset will be how his body reacts on Sunday. We know it’ll help us a lot, but if not, we’ll deal with it.”

If Williams is unable to play, San Francisco will turn to second-year offensive lineman Colton McKivitiz, who started the 49ers week 18 victory over Los Angeles in place of Williams.

Running back Jeff Wilson Jr is also listed as questionable with an ankle injury. Wilson was a limited participant in practice on Friday.

The Rams look to be getting back linebacker Ernest Jones and left tackle Andrew Whitworth from injury. However, offensive lineman Joe Noteboom is listed as doubtful while wide receiver Van Jefferson and safety Taylor Rapp are questionable for Sunday.

  1. Need to add Grant Cohn to the Injury Report. What
will Sunday’s game be without his on-site presence?

      1. Grant’s offers little of value to me but except for his constantly talking over them I usually enjoy his segments with Jack of course and Vish, Sybylla (sp?) and Jessie Naylor. What’s your take on that, rib?

        1. Grant was great with his dad too.
Maybe he needs a sidekick to prevent him from spinning out of control….

        2. George, I have no take on it. For me, Grant dropped off my radar after he exited here. In a world of limitless sports talk, news, criticism, analysis I found him to be just another clanging cymbal.

  2. The issue I find kind of interesting is: Why McKivits? 49ers have had Aaron Banks and Jaylon Moore on the active roster all year but the 49ers bring up a 2nd year player from the PS to start in front of them. Seems like a viable option would be to start Moore or Banks at Guard and bump Brunskill to Tackle. I guess the Brunskill v Donald matchup is a consideration and you might weaken 2 positions instead of one but still. I find it very telling 2 players on your active roster can’t get a sniff of the field. A PS player beat them out. Especially for Aaron Banks who was drafted to be an immediate starter. 49ers should look long and hard at whomever advocated for that pick and then ask Lynch why they drafted a player to start who many people had pegged to go 3 or even 4 rounds later than the 49ers picked him. Anyone with eyes can see Banks has exceptionally poor lateral movement. He will never be good in pass pro. His physical limitations are obvious. Definite head scratcher.

    1. I don’t think it’s anything more than that neither of the three is good enough to play consistently and that McKivits is the best of the lot to play left tackle. The offensive line just doesn’t have much depth. Can you imagine what would happen if Mack or Tomlinson got injured?

Funny that you should mention that Banks has poor lateral movement. I just read a CBS analysis on McKivits that said the same about him.

  3. Tom Brady announces retirement. There’s a changing of the guard happening. One more QB opening for next year. I suspect There will be a lot of interest in Jimmy.
